Very informative. Thanks for the genuine reply to my glib cynicism:)

There's a reason Gen X is called the Forgotten Generation.

I reckon YT Premium is worth it, as problematic as Google is these days. I primarily watch YT videos for entertainment, mostly video essays and gaming news/let's plays, and after ditching Spotify, YT Music is a worthwhile addition.

A VPN

YouTube Premium, plus a member of the Internet Today channel, because Ricky and Elliot deserve all the love they can get.

Nebula.

And a handful of simracing Patreons.

XAI, the company behind Grok, did not respond to a request for comment, other than with an automatically-generated reply stating "legacy media lies".

Fuckin' WHAT?

"We need to get beyond the arguments of slop vs sophistication," Nadella laments, emphasizing hopes that society will become more accepting of AI, or what Nadella describes as "cognitive amplifier tools." "...and develop a new equilibrium in terms of our “theory of the mind” that accounts for humans being equipped with these new cognitive amplifier tools as we relate to each other."

There's that word 'hope' again. It seems to be the main driving force behind a.i. implementation.

Also, I think "cognitive real-time amplifier product" makes for a better acronym.

There a good reason for that.

Lapses in safeguards

Yeah, right. :|

That looks fantastic, but oof at the price.

Edit after some thought: Mind you, a reasonably specced out regular bike can easily be that much or more. I bought a Bacchetta Giro in 2006 for around $3000, so maybe it's not so unreasonable. I was just thinking that I bought a used car for less than that in '23.

Bullshit Jobs by David Graeber. Very enlightening.

I started reading them this year on a recommendation from a lemmist, and got a bit fatigued with them by book 4. It's my first foray into litrpg, and while they're a rollicking good read, it started to bother me that there was a bit too much 'rpg' and not enough 'lit' for me. By that I mean, I'm into the overarching story with the aliens and what they're up to, but not so much the dungeon crawling stuff, and all the stat's and leveling and so on, which is the majority of the content. It's a bit grindy, is what I'm saying.

That said I will get back to them, I think, after I finish the Stainless Steel Rat series I'm currently on.

Browsing around Gaza on Google Maps and came across this, which tickled my dark sense of humour. I'm going to hell.

That said, I have no idea how old the satellite photos are, but the scale of the destruction of Gaza is pretty mind-blowing and horrifying.

New Mummies video just dropped. Love it!

I had this on VHS back in the day. My favourite DB concert film supporting my favourite DB album, 'Uh-Oh'. I've listened to that album probably over a thousand times and I'm still not tired of it. No exaggeration.

A bit of classic Byrne since he's been putting out some new stuff recently that hasn't really grabbed me as much. The bass on this is great.

I'd like to introduce you all to TISM (This Is Serious, Mum), one of the greatest satirical Aussie bands of the nineties. This is just a taste of their schtick.

There's always at least a couple of them within arm's reach from my couch.

Full livestream of some of the tightest funk you'll ever hear, with a cheeky sense of humour. This show is relentlessly good. Only two cameras, but the sound mix is great. I've watched this multiple times, and am watching it again on posting this.
