Do, uh, you want to get some of your things first?

Just get me the hell out of here.

Don't you even want to know what this other timeline is like?

Did I stutter?

It might be deadly. You may have to confront skin-eating monsters!

How's the air quality? Is it at least below unknown records?

(i drew this comic when the air quality was so bad the local expert's vibes were like "leave if you can; if you don't you'll uh.... well honestly we don't know what will happen to you, but it probably won't be good."

one of the California wildfires’ air quality was so bad, it was described as “smoking a pack of cigarettes an hour”

Not a bad idea ... instead of putting out the fire, just throw in bales of tobacco or marijuana and let everyone enjoy themselves instead.

What could you possibly want to bring from your timeline? Your money will be useless your ID will be fraudulent, your clothes will be out of place.

Genuinely: snacks and a family photo. Maybe my favorite pen.

Timelines are actually a lot like magnetic field lines:

(you go in from the bottom)

society is like a big engine, pushing every human forward in a collective way. (this is being represented by the red part in that image. Society "squeezes" humans forward, towards the top.)

Then, after society has fully developed, it falls apart because there's no need for its collective effort/structure/organization anymore. Everybody goes on with their own way. That's what the spreading magnetic field lines atop the image represent. You can branch out in one of many different ways. The future, from now on, is yours. There is no more "collective normal person", no more " adhering to the norm", just: you do you.

I've been reading Reality is Not What it Seems and it is breaking my brain; like I think I can actually feel my brain caving in on itself or making new wrinkles trying to comprehend what the hell he's talking about. I THINK I'm following him, but ye gods time and gravity and... just everything... it's boggling!

I gotta check it out, thanks!
