This is a community for discussion, news, and memes pertaining to the video game sub-genre "soulslike".
Given Lemmy's size, the definition of soulslike may be treated relatively loosely. While games like the numerous FromSoft titles, the recent Star Wars Jedi games, Lies of P, Nioh and similar games should be the focus, games that incorporate soulslike elements - like Hollow Knight and Blasphemous, for example - may also be discussed here.

Definitely for the memes since DS1 was released in 2011 but still…
I was playing DS3 the other day and was amazed at how beautiful that game is. Almost 10 years old and the graphics really hold up.
Art direction > Graphical fidelity
Demon's Souls remake vs Elden Ring; you can see the difference in graphical fidelity with Bluepoint's remaster having "more" graphics, but ER still looks good because they used the aesthetics extremely well. Any random place you look ends up appearing like the cover of a fantasy novel.
I'd play ER with this mod for flat textures just for the look. Though I don't think the textures are what makes the game slow down in the DLC areas so that would still be a bummer.
If only you found an area that was actually similar to compare to
