Oh, wow. I've always wondered about the crazy bathroom laws. I used to ask, "What're they gonna do? Raid the bathroom and start checking genitals?" Turns out, yeah, that's exactly what they're gonna do. I hope the malicious idiots that voted for this get a taste of their own medicine when they become collateral damage.

There wasn't even a bathroom law in Arizona. A bunch of men busted in there just to harass a lesbian.

[–] [email protected] 46 points 3 weeks ago

Who could’ve ever possibly imagined that this would happen?

Oh anyone who can put two and two together…

[–] [email protected] 19 points 3 weeks ago (3 children)

Whoa, that's even crazier. Are police not beholden to law? If not, what exactly is law enforcement in the context of the executive branch of government?

[–] [email protected] 15 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

They've always considered themselves above the law.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 3 weeks ago

I am the law!

"What am I being arrested for?"

"Doing stuff we don't like without license."

Why rely on MintPress’ analysis of someone else’s take. Why not use their source?

[–] [email protected] 2 points 3 weeks ago

To be honest I just pulled the first link.

Are police not beholden to law?

In the US? LOLOLOL

[–] [email protected] 18 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

There wasn't even a bathroom law in Arizona. A bunch of men busted in there just to harass a ~~lesbian~~ woman.

Her sexuality is irrelevant. There are plenty of "butch" straight women.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

There's a clear hierarchy to their hate. Trans > gay > cishet.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 3 weeks ago

Sure, but don't let them use their bigotry to control narrative.

There is no reason this person had to be an lesbian for this scenario. The bigots hear lesbian and think, no big deal, better safe than sorry, etc.

[–] [email protected] 14 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Sounds like a lucrative lawsuit to me

[–] [email protected] 11 points 3 weeks ago

Nah, suing the cops is an uphill battle, even when you have a good case. And even if you win the cops will see 0 repercussions. Anything you win will be payed for by the tax payer while the cops get to stay on the force and brutalize more citizens.

It's the Sith side of Penis Inspection Day.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 3 weeks ago

Fear leads to anger. Anger leads to hate. Hate leads to genital inspection.

Men burst into the ladies' room with flashlights to harass a woman.

These anti trans bathroom laws are just an excuse for perverts and rapists to get into the ladies' room!

This is just one reason why TERFs are morons

trans exclusionary radical bathroom fetishists?

edit sadly that doesn't describe it enough. how many more modifiers do you want. hate is hate.

[–] [email protected] 12 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Someone on Lemmy, I wish I remembered and could credit them, called them FARTs- Feminism Appropriating Radical Transphobes. I've been telling all my friends to do that, it feels right.

[–] [email protected] 31 points 3 weeks ago

it's just basic human decency that i need to know the details of your junk in a Tucson mega mart

[–] [email protected] 28 points 3 weeks ago

"We can always tell"

[–] [email protected] 14 points 3 weeks ago

We knew this would happen. Gender purity tests affect everyone.

[–] [email protected] 10 points 3 weeks ago

I had a bad feeling about Tuscan and Phoenix, not sure about the rest of Arizona

[–] [email protected] 10 points 3 weeks ago

you could not hire the most talented comedian on earth to parody this.

[–] [email protected] 10 points 3 weeks ago (2 children)

Ah yeah, just people learning about new/old genders the hard way. You just have to remember LGBTQ A+. There's a plus I assume now because there's a large number of yet to surface genders. There's a space between the A, I assume because A is for Asexual sort of de-gendered. Its a rainbow out there. Just accept it and move on. I don't even understand why the big deal. At home there's two bathrooms and anyone can go in them. I don't have to go check all my guests for dick or vagina. I assume that they gotta go at some point so I provide them the same two bathrooms my own family uses....unless they got Ebola. I assume other people would also draw the line at deadly airborne diseases. Possible at diarrhea, but hey, even then, you still gotta go somewhere!

[–] [email protected] 6 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

The same type of people complaining about Gender-Neutral bathrooms are the same type of people that would complain about desegregated water fountains. Bigots.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 3 weeks ago* (last edited 3 weeks ago) (2 children)

So if we create a bathroom for bigots will that solve the problem?

  • Common M/F/Whatever
  • Disabled
  • Bigots

/S

[–] [email protected] 4 points 3 weeks ago

really bathrooms should default to being accessible, look to thatcher's grave for a great example.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 3 weeks ago

Yes please, and paint the bathroom door red.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 3 weeks ago* (last edited 3 weeks ago) (1 children)

The full acronym as far as we are aware is: LGBTQIANB2SP+

Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Intersex, Asexual/Aromantic, Nonbinary, TwoSpirit, Pansexual (and maybe Polyamorous) plus

[–] [email protected] 3 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Dang! I want to be polyamorous but my wife said no.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Oh, sorry that you're in that situation.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Its OK I'll ask again tomorrow.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Doesn't sound like a good thing to be honest. If someone says no, you should respect that and either stop being in that relationship if being polyamorous is that important to you, or accept that you won't ever be in a polyamorous relationship.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Lol. No worries it was just a funny comment. I'm totally fine.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Oh, okay. As somemany who are polyamorous we saw the possible outcomes of trying to force such a situation. Glad you're okay and it's not serious.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

I totally wonder how they can possibly make a trio or more work. But to each their own. Two of my sisters in law have all their kids from different dads. It seems to work for them and they are nice and decent people not trying to sexually molest me when we meet lol.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 3 weeks ago* (last edited 3 weeks ago)

Well it depends what kind of polyamory you want. Personally we are relationship anarchists and mostly solo polyam which is more towards the egalitarian end.

There's the hierarchical polyamorous folks that we don't really like at all, but if it works for someone or somemany, then they have our support.

We've made a lot of mistakes in the past over it, but we have learned what to do and what not to do.

We highly recommend undertaking therapy, and learning to recognise that jealousy and envy are not good things to base relationships on nor to blame others for, those are our own problems, nothing to do with others if they aren't doing anything to be petty to us or to intentionally hurt us in other ways.

PAPERS PLEASE

sounds familiar...

[–] [email protected] 7 points 3 weeks ago

Another reason to boycott Walmart and U.S. corporations.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 3 weeks ago

Should be able to sue the police union. Absolute shitshow that these clowns can do what they do and are defended on the taxpayer dollar.

The design of our restrooms is dumb, and the hate brigade makes it 10x worse.

Sweden does restrooms correctly. They are more private, more hygienic, and more efficient. That’s on top of eliminating the reason for the temptation for scumbags to be the genital police.

What I am used to at work in the US is a giant room for two toilets and a urinal plus two sinks. And it should go without saying that the privacy of the stalls is terrible. They are only ever metal panels that start a foot off the floor and end low enough for tall people to see over. The metal panels have huge gaps between them that you have to avoid looking at unless you like awkward eye contact. Of course there is also the door for the ladies’ room leading to a second giant room with I assume 3 toilets and 2 sinks.

Over in Sweden, in the same space you have a short hallway with 6-8 individual doors. Real wooden doors, that fully close and lock with vacant/occupied indicators on the outside. Behind each is a reasonably sized small room with a toilet and sink. You know, kind of like a restroom!

The setup is better for the individuals using the facilities as well as the group’s utilization. Any person can use any restroom at any time, and with a much better experience than we have now.

It just seems a bit too “respects other humans” to fly in the US. Plus I’m sure the upfront construction cost is slightly higher (gasps in American).
