News and Discussions about Reddit

Welcome to !reddit. This is a community for all news and discussions about Reddit.

The rules for posting and commenting, besides the rules defined here for lemmy.world, are as follows:

Rules

Rule 1- No brigading.

**You may not encourage brigading any communities or subreddits in any way. **

YSKs are about self-improvement on how to do things.

Rule 2- No illegal or NSFW or gore content.

**No illegal or NSFW or gore content. **

Rule 3- Do not seek mental, medical and professional help here.

Do not seek mental, medical and professional help here. Breaking this rule will not get you or your post removed, but it will put you at risk, and possibly in danger.

Rule 4- No self promotion or upvote-farming of any kind.

That's it.

Rule 5- No baiting or sealioning or promoting an agenda.

Posts and comments which, instead of being of an innocuous nature, are specifically intended (based on reports and in the opinion of our crack moderation team) to bait users into ideological wars on charged political topics will be removed and the authors warned - or banned - depending on severity.

Rule 6- Regarding META posts.

Provided it is about the community itself, you may post non-Reddit posts using the [META] tag on your post title.

Rule 7- You can't harass or disturb other members.

If you vocally harass or discriminate against any individual member, you will be removed.

Likewise, if you are a member, sympathiser or a resemblant of a movement that is known to largely hate, mock, discriminate against, and/or want to take lives of a group of people, and you were provably vocal about your hate, then you will be banned on sight.

Rule 8- All comments should try to stay relevant to their parent content.

Rule 9- Reposts from other platforms are not allowed.

Let everyone have their own content.

Rule 10- Majority of bots aren't allowed to participate here. This includes using AI responses and summaries.

Ive been on Reddit for 10 to 15 years. Its always been a strange place but ive never seen anything like what's going on at the moment.

  • weird rules (like 'Luigi') being applied system-wide without being communicated
  • automated actions applied to individual users site-wide, like allowing them to engage but preventing them from creating posts anywhere
  • over zealous mods. I'm assuming a lot of mods got sick of it and left over the last few years and those doing the work are under experienced. Or maybe just AI. Its possible.
  • GPTs engaging in posts and comments for training
  • agents from hostile governments agitating and spurring on political discussions that favour their agenda.

So yeah I'm giving up on it now, its just no fun anymore.

Yeah, this sure. But I think primarily Reddit doesn't want its platform to be used to organize and protest. This is how they are setting the stage.

I am pretty sure a bunch of mods on big subreddits are actually Reddit employees cosplaying as normal users too.

Oh, and Reddit is now shadow banning your accounts when you evade a ban on a sub. So now I got all my accounts shadow banned because I ended up commenting on a sub I was banned on one account without noticing it, so I have zero reasons to go back to using reddit anymore. At least before I got a ban and was notified about how long it would take for my accounts to be usable again, now they are shadow banned without any notifications and I have no idea if they will ever go back to normal or not, so fuck it.

I mean this is political censorship. Just plain and simple. Well done reddit. And i am against violence. But the thing that touches me the wrong way is the idea that not guilty until proven completely got lost in this case. And dont get me started on the united healthcare topic. Ia this still allowed on reddit or will it get shadow banned?

Hey everyone, there's a lot of you. You ever think maybe you can just troll them by none stop posting to all their subreddits. Hell the mods are like the same 20 people in over 5000 sub reddits. That's a weak point.

For a brief few years we had communication platforms that could topple dictatorships but now here we are.

Victual the affluent.

So do we all sign back into our old reddit accounts to say "Luigi" until permaban?

[–] [email protected] 9 points 1 month ago

I would, but I deleted my 17 year old account last year after the API mess and other spez bullshit that I don’t even recall 🤣

Well that means they’re afraid. We’re not calling for anything violent we’re just calling out what we see. It’s a shame that Reddit went red. #boycottreddit

I would upvote this post if you didn't include mention of Luigi in the title. The image and the extreme action isn't about Luigi at all. A mod was banned for upvoting an article from The Guardian about Donald Trump. If it were actually about Luigi then that would actually make more sense as a decision from Reddit admins, but it's not. The user was banned for upvoting trustworthy news about Donald Trump.

I'll never understand why people do unpaid labor for free for capitalists

[–] [email protected] 15 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Many (most?) volunteer moderators are doing unpaid labor for a community they are invested in that happens to be hosted by capitalists because aggregation (and smart phones giving every normie constant access to the internet) killed forum culture.

Just put "luigi" at the bottom of every comment.

Reddit became a clownshow 2 years ago, how are people even still enjoying the place?

[–] [email protected] 14 points 1 month ago (2 children)

It's still the only major community hub for loads of hobbies and such. As an example: the Magic the Gathering community here has 1300 members and almost no activity.

Everybody log into your reddit accounts and post "Luigi" everywhere you can.

[–] [email protected] 12 points 1 month ago

Let it burn.

[–] [email protected] 11 points 1 month ago

How long till the people still using X, Meta, and Reddit products will start to be featured on [email protected] and other related communities?

Out of the loop somehow, what is (this) Luigi all about?
