Welcome to the News community!

Rules:

1. Be civil

Attack the argument, not the person. No racism/sexism/bigotry. Good faith argumentation only. This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban. Do not respond to rule-breaking content; report it and move on.

2. All posts should contain a source (url) that is as reliable and unbiased as possible and must only contain one link.

Obvious biased sources will be removed at the mods’ discretion. Supporting links can be added in comments or posted separately but not to the post body. Sources may be checked for reliability using Wikipedia, MBFC, AdFontes, GroundNews, etc.

3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.

Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.

4. Post titles should be the same as the article used as source. Clickbait titles may be removed.

Posts which titles don’t match the source may be removed. If the site changed their headline, we may ask you to update the post title. Clickbait titles use hyperbolic language and do not accurately describe the article content. When necessary, post titles may be edited, clearly marked with [brackets], but may never be used to editorialize or comment on the content.

5. Only recent news is allowed.

Posts must be news from the most recent 30 days.

6. All posts must be news articles.

No opinion pieces, Listicles, editorials, videos, blogs, press releases, or celebrity gossip will be allowed. All posts will be judged on a case-by-case basis. Mods may use discretion to pre-approve videos or press releases from highly credible sources that provide unique, newsworthy content not available or possible in another format.

7. No duplicate posts.

If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.

8. Misinformation is prohibited.

Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.

9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.

All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.

10. Don't copy entire article in your post body

For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.

“We know that these drugs traveled all the way from Mexico, over the United States’ southern border, and then made their way here to Canada where we stopped and seized them,” said Toronto Police Chief Myron Demkiw at a press conference Tuesday, Jan. 21.

Wait, aren't the drugs meant to be flowing the other way?

[–] floofloof@lemmy.ca 47 points 11 months ago

Oops, whoopsie, that was a lie.

[–] Bakkoda@sh.itjust.works 19 points 11 months ago

[–] WhyFlip@lemmy.world 12 points 11 months ago (1 children)

The very big cocaine spigot is turned on in Mexico and flows north to Canada.

[–] crawancon@lemm.ee 11 points 11 months ago

THE SPICE MUST FLOW

[–] Maiq@lemy.lol 8 points 11 months ago (2 children)

In the northern hemisphere the the hardcore drugs usually come from the south.

[–] Reverendender@sh.itjust.works 6 points 11 months ago (1 children)

We know all about your lies, Maiq!

[–] Maiq@lemy.lol 7 points 11 months ago

This one knows many things. You may find moonsugar Elsweyr.

[–] match@pawb.social 3 points 11 months ago (3 children)

Is coke harder than ketamine?

[–] Maiq@lemy.lol 9 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Khajiit avoids veterinarians over fear one may wake without his two furry friends.

[–] SinningStromgald@lemmy.world 2 points 11 months ago (1 children)

I thought Khajit only have one tail?

[–] Maiq@lemy.lol 4 points 11 months ago

Not true, Khajiit have many tales. M'aiq once knew an apothecary, he had three legs and a limp. Maybe it was two. He said to this one, "Everybody lies". Even domiciles hold wisdom.

[–] feedum_sneedson@lemmy.world 2 points 11 months ago

Effects, no. Side effects, yes.

[–] prole@lemmy.blahaj.zone 1 points 11 months ago

Yes, absolutely.

[–] Typotyper@sh.itjust.works 3 points 11 months ago

They come here so we can send them down there in smaller quantities. It’s called warehousing and on demand delivery

[–] pineapple_pizza@lemmy.dexlit.xyz 45 points 11 months ago

They're stealing our drugs!

[–] noxypaws@pawb.social 36 points 11 months ago

Now there's a whole category of headline I've never seen before.

Feels like a clear sign of how much Canada is just fucking done carrying water for us.

Keep it up.

Maybe we should be putting some heavy tariffs on the US for allowing this scourge to flow past it's borders towards Canada, eh?

[–] Kraven_the_Hunter@lemmy.dbzer0.com 25 points 11 months ago (1 children)

GET YOUR SHIT TOGETHER USA !!!

oh wait, that's me. nvm

[–] skuzz@discuss.tchncs.de 7 points 11 months ago

Yeah, we dumb. A friend always mentioned in the past, "doesn't it seem like there's just 20% of people navigating for the other 80%?" Not politicians. The people that pay attention, on things like roadways to prevent wrecks and that report bad food and such to the proper places. It seems, perhaps, that 80% of dumb just might not be worth the 20%s time anymore.

[–] ATDA@lemmy.world 18 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Canada be like THE WALL JUST GOT TEN FEET HIGHER, sorry.

[–] BruceAlrighty@lemmy.nz 6 points 11 months ago* (last edited 11 months ago)

Arrest that wall! It’s on drugs.

[–] triptrapper@lemmy.world 17 points 11 months ago (5 children)

I'm really proud of everyone for not making the tired "835 kilograms! What would someone do with 750 kilograms?" joke. It's just the worst.

[–] tiefling@lemmy.blahaj.zone 7 points 11 months ago (1 children)

600 kilograms of cocaine is no laughing matter

[–] T00l_shed@lemmy.world 4 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Yes it's good that 400 kilograms of cocaine were taken off the street.

[–] BenM2023@lemmy.world 1 points 11 months ago (1 children)

That 200kg of cocaine has nearly filled the storage facility.

[–] feedum_sneedson@lemmy.world 2 points 11 months ago

835kg of cocaine

[–] Generic_Idiot@lemm.ee 3 points 11 months ago

Hands down the most rinsed out joke on the internet. I think less of anyone who seriously does it.

[–] SilentStorms@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 11 months ago

Augh now you've started it. Now there's going to be a 20 comment chain underneith you making the same lame joke.

[–] Proprietary_Blend@lemmy.world 9 points 11 months ago (1 children)
[–] whostosay@lemmy.world 4 points 11 months ago

Tarrifs don't hurt the drug producers, they hurt the drug users.

[–] SabinStargem@lemmings.world 9 points 11 months ago

Ah, finally a resource that Trump and Musk is fully willing to remove their tariffs for!

[–] Lifecoach5000@lemmy.world 5 points 11 months ago (1 children)
