Yes, but only alternatives such as the Fediverse. Facebook owned social media is no better, and Bluesky has no guarantee it can't become just as bad in time.

Why doesn’t the Government run its own secure servers? Tie an instance into the Fediverse, allow free read access to anyone. With a Lemmy subscription option.
