Welcome to the News community!

Rules:

1. Be civil

Attack the argument, not the person. No racism/sexism/bigotry. Good faith argumentation only. This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban. Do not respond to rule-breaking content; report it and move on.

2. All posts should contain a source (url) that is as reliable and unbiased as possible and must only contain one link.

Obvious biased sources will be removed at the mods’ discretion. Supporting links can be added in comments or posted separately but not to the post body. Sources may be checked for reliability using Wikipedia, MBFC, AdFontes, GroundNews, etc.

3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.

Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.

4. Post titles should be the same as the article used as source. Clickbait titles may be removed.

Posts which titles don’t match the source may be removed. If the site changed their headline, we may ask you to update the post title. Clickbait titles use hyperbolic language and do not accurately describe the article content. When necessary, post titles may be edited, clearly marked with [brackets], but may never be used to editorialize or comment on the content.

5. Only recent news is allowed.

Posts must be news from the most recent 30 days.

6. All posts must be news articles.

No opinion pieces, Listicles, editorials, videos, blogs, press releases, or celebrity gossip will be allowed. All posts will be judged on a case-by-case basis. Mods may use discretion to pre-approve videos or press releases from highly credible sources that provide unique, newsworthy content not available or possible in another format.

7. No duplicate posts.

If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.

8. Misinformation is prohibited.

Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.

9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.

All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.

10. Don't copy entire article in your post body

For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.

Hah! Well played!

[–] oakey66@lemmy.world 50 points 1 year ago (3 children)

Suck my balls. They're not going to do shit. They've learned absolutely nothing.

[–] oakey66@lemmy.world 48 points 1 year ago

They'll primary AOC before they "Street fight" republican fascism. And the fact that they're still making this about Trump and not the Republican party as a whole is extremely telling.

[–] hansolo@lemm.ee 10 points 1 year ago (1 children)

They've learned from the GOP that you can be very financially successful saying you're the only group that can do anything to help...with just a little bit more money.

Then every time you try and do something, it fails because you didn't have enough money, and blame everyone else.

[–] Spacehooks@reddthat.com 4 points 1 year ago (1 children)

That's like dems whole deal.

[–] hansolo@lemm.ee 5 points 1 year ago (1 children)

It's how both of them work, Trump's emails are structured the same way.

"Donate today or a [person from a political party] will eat your baby! Only [candidate] can stand up to the mean ol' [other party]."

Then 3 days later, video of the two opposing candidates sitting together, laughing, sharing a bottle of scotch, and their spouses sharing recipes at an event.

[–] Spacehooks@reddthat.com 6 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Yeah but gop actually does more work to destroy than dems do to move left. So in my mind donating to gop is actually value if you're a d bag.

[–] hansolo@lemm.ee 3 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Moving left and destroying rule of law are not, by definition, opposites.

Building resilient, rights respecting, widely trusted, and protective institutions is the opposite of tearing it all down, and Dems haven't been good at that in 30 years other than Obama doing a lot to boost up OMB to utilize data and evidence in decision-making. And just look how that's going at this point.

[–] Spacehooks@reddthat.com 2 points 1 year ago

Yeah that summarize how I feel. Dems idle center while gop is in fact doing work. The worst possible kind but a GOP supporter is probably happy.

[–] Maggoty@lemmy.world 7 points 1 year ago

Oh according to the article they're excited to ... Work with Republicans on key votes.

So they're going to do something, they're going to help the people they said are destroying our country.

This better be a literal street fight.

[–] goldteeth@lemmy.dbzer0.com 15 points 1 year ago

This better be the fucking street fight from Anchorman with a hand grenade and a circular saw and a dude with a claymore.

[–] z3rOR0ne@lemmy.ml 7 points 1 year ago

Fuck a street fight, I wanna see a drive by shooting.

[–] Rhoeri@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

Fingers crossed.

[–] ctkatz@lemmy.ml 35 points 1 year ago

I'll believe it when I see it.

[–] kreskin@lemmy.world 33 points 1 year ago

If we could harvest the Dem leaderships lack of energy to do anything we might be able to create vacuum energy or antimatter.

[–] Maggoty@lemmy.world 29 points 1 year ago

Wait... Are they admitting that they were just coasting before? Like, what the fuck guys? The GOP has been in full partisan war mode for 17 years. And you guys are just now realizing you need to get off your ass?

Also, the call to get off your ass is because you think they're going to reach out for votes on key bills? After all this you're still on about bipartisanship?

No. You let them fuck it up. You run ads about them fucking it up. You put their dysfunction on a fucking stage for the world to see. You do not rescue them. They would not rescue you. They have a trifecta. If they cannot pass anything with a trifecta that's a good result for you. (For anyone worried about the filibuster, it doesn't apply to budget bills, they don't need Democrat votes to fund the government)

Let them be hoisted by their own petard.

[–] Diplomjodler3@lemmy.world 28 points 1 year ago (1 children)

So what are they going to do? Write a strongly worded letter?

[–] Rhoeri@lemmy.world 15 points 1 year ago (1 children)

An aggressively shaken fist in their general direction.

[–] Diplomjodler3@lemmy.world 9 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Now now! Whatever happened to civility?

[–] dan1101@lemm.ee 3 points 1 year ago

We should not stoop to their level.

Maybe theyll offer a compromise that only gives them 90% of what they want instead of 95%, that'll show them

[–] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 25 points 1 year ago (1 children)

There's no such thing as a finger-wagging street fight, Democrats. Sorry.

[–] fallowseed@lemmy.world 10 points 1 year ago

aoc shouting WORLDSTAR

[–] kikutwo@lemmy.world 21 points 1 year ago

Oh, they are still around?

[–] Allonzee@lemmy.world 14 points 1 year ago

Democrats used neoliberalism.

It made Republicans laugh.

[–] Brkdncr@lemmy.world 12 points 1 year ago (2 children)

I almost don’t care. They need to figure out what the rest of the USA wants and prep for the next election.

[–] tiefling@lemmy.blahaj.zone 43 points 1 year ago

Next election?

[–] Saljid@lemmy.world 31 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) (1 children)

Kinda funny how people think this could still be voted, discussed or reasoned away. Get a grip and look around, the Gleichschaltung is in full swing. Camps are being established.

[–] Rhoeri@lemmy.world 6 points 1 year ago

Sadly, this is true.

[–] bitjunkie@lemmy.world 11 points 1 year ago

More meaningless rhetoric as the camps are being opened. Fuck the Dems. They were supposed to protect us.

[–] NudeNewt@lemm.ee 9 points 1 year ago

Don't get me wrong I despise MAGA but holy cow, Democrats are spineless cowards.
