Thereβs clearly something Iβm missing. I donβt get it at all.
Comic Strips
Comic Strips is a community for those who love comic stories.
Rules
-
π Be Nice!
- Treat others with respect and dignity. Friendly banter is okay, as long as it is mutual; keyword: friendly.
-
ποΈ Community Standards
- Comics should be a full story, from start to finish, in one post.
- Posts should be safe and enjoyable by the majority of community members, both here on lemmy.world and other instances.
- Any comic that would qualify as raunchy, lewd, or otherwise draw unwanted attention by nosy coworkers, spouses, or family members should be tagged as NSFW.
- Moderators have final say on what and what does not qualify as appropriate. Use common sense, and if need be, err on the side of caution.
-
𧬠Keep it Real
- Comics should be made and posted by real human beans, not by automated means like bots or AI. This is not the community for that sort of thing.
-
π½οΈ Credit Where Credit is Due
- Comics should include the original attribution to the artist(s) involved, and be unmodified. Bonus points if you include a link back to their website. When in doubt, use a reverse image search to try to find the original version. Repeat offenders will have their posts removed, be temporarily banned from posting, or if all else fails, be permanently banned from posting.
- Attributions include, but are not limited to, watermarks, links, or other text or imagery that artists add to their comics to use for identification purposes. If you find a comic without any such markings, it would be a good idea to see if you can find an original version. If one cannot be found, say so and ask the community for help!
-
π Post Formatting
- Post an image, gallery, or link to a specific comic hosted on another site; e.g., the author's website.
- Meta posts about the community should be tagged with [Meta] either at the beginning or the end of the post title.
- When linking to a comic hosted on another site, ensure the link is to the comic itself and not just to the website; e.g.,
β Correct: https://xkcd.com/386/
β Incorrect: https://xkcd.com/
-
π¬ Post Frequency/SPAM
- Each user (regardless of instance) may post up to five (5 π) comics a day. This can be any combination of personal comics you have written yourself, or other author's comics. Any comics exceeding five (5 π) will be removed.
-
π΄ββ οΈ Internationalization (i18n)
- Non-English posts are welcome. Please tag the post title with the original language, and include an English translation in the body of the post; e.g.,
SΓ, por favor [Spanish/EspaΓ±ol]
- Non-English posts are welcome. Please tag the post title with the original language, and include an English translation in the body of the post; e.g.,
-
πΏ Moderation
- We are human, just like most everybody else on Lemmy. If you feel a moderation decision was made in error, you are welcome to reach out to anybody on the moderation team for clarification. Keep in mind that moderation decisions may be final.
- When reporting posts and/or comments, quote which rule is being broken, and why you feel it broke the rules.
Banned Artists
The following artists are banned from the community.
- Jago
- Stonetoss
It should be noted that when you make reports, it is your responsibility to provide rational reasoning why something should be removed. Saying it simply breaks community rules is not always good enough.
Web Accessibility
Note: This is not a rule, but a helpful suggestion.
When posting images, you should strive to add alt-text for screen readers to use to describe the image you're posting:
Another helpful thing to do is to provide a transcription of the text in your images, as well as brief descriptions of what's going on. (example)

Leaky bucket watered flowers along the path!
Thank you! I was slightly confused as well.
My interpretation, the leaky bucket is watering the side of the path, why you see all the blooming flowers in the final panel. While the bucket is feeling like it's worthless and not as good at the task of hauling water, it has an positive impact on things around it's world.
The incompetence of the bucket allowed flowers to thrive, leading them to eventually achieve sapience and overthrow the farmer. It was during the renaissance after the post industrial age of flower society that a new peaceful era dedicated to the worship of the wooden bucket began.
Incompetence?
Maybe old age. Or lack of self worth. Or grief. Or inexperience. Or... are we still taking about a bucket?
Until the farmer sends his tank... umm... his plow.
The leaky wooden bucket has given up on itself just because it can't perform like it used to, especially when compared. The bucket, however is unkind to judge itself so harshly. The leak watered and grew beautiful flowers along it's path, and in the end still held enough water to help fill the pot.
Oh, that was what the last panel was about.
Donβt forget that it also helps to keep it balanced with the other bucket.
Very true

When these people are fired for "not doing anything important", everyone else's work suffers.
What... Does pro level: expert mean?
Pro is short for professional
So the level of professionalism is... Expert. Not "Pro"?
Essential. Basic. Standard. Deluxe. Office (SOHO). Pro. Expert. Enterprise. Datacenter.
Software editions have taught me that so many levels have been invented that we might as well use level1,2,3,4,5 etc...
I gotta teach my wife this word.
Cute but what's the takeaway here? Your shortcomings help others?
If you're not good at the thing others expect you to do, you may be good at something else.
But you might still get fired for being a leaky bucket? Thus not getting the chance to water the path anymore?
Lol. But that bucket isn't going to get fired because it provides balance and still almost doubled the woman's carrying capacity.
Will get replaced
Yeah, if the woman is lucky.
But the woman in this comic doesn't look like she's rolling in spare money to replace a buck that still mostly works.
(Having to spend time to carry water on a walking path isn't usually a signal of extravagant wealth.)
She probably threatens the bucket with replacement daily, though.
Work harder for the bilionaires to enjoy flowers
Inefficiency may have positive side effects to the point of being not inefficient at all, but different
Retirement is bad! You should keep working even if you're worn out and not fit for purpose! Keep laboring!
Don't throw away the bucket, think how a little flaw may be beautiful and even useful.
I donβt get it either, does the water holder want to water the flowers? Cause otherwise itβs still a bad bucket
The water source is higher ground than the house... Dude should just build a small trench for the water to flow down to his house
β¦ thereβs a hole in the bucket, Dear Liza dear Liza
Then fix it, dear Henry, dear Henry, dear Henry.
With what shall I fix it, dear Liza, dear Liza?
Shouldn't the flowers be on the other side of the path?
Water drips on the way from the lake, not towards the lake.
Yup! Youβre absolutely right. π€¦ββοΈ
At first I thought the flowers were fallen apples and I thought it was about finding a new use. Either way, it's a positive sentiment.
