Yep, I think the whole point is that he thinks he's being different, but in reality he just turned into an asshole.

Same. Come has changed their recipe so much over the year it just tastes like weird chemical carbonation to me. Used to love OG vanilla coke. Now I'm a Pepsi guy. Especially fountain. So refreshing. Barqs still wins best on fountain tho.

For me it's Pepsi too but Pepsi Max is the best. Pepsi Max 2-pack best.
Diet versions of pop are better.

100% agree and it cleans up easier than regular syrupy soda.
I don't find Pepsi as bad as Coke with that. Coke leaves my mouth feeling gross.
Try them with real sugar. I find that real sugar doesnβt leave that filmy aftertaste

Diet versions are pointless as they provide no sugar. I'd rather drink water

Lol my brother is a coke guy. Took him out for his birthday and he's in the bathroom when server came over for drink orders. My brother usually interrogates them if it's real coke which seems kind of over the top so I just said "do you have actual coke?" and got a yes so ordered it for him. He sits down and I'm like I made sure it was coke for you! He takes a sipβ it's Pepsi lmao.
Still not as funny as the time we were on vacation in a Pepsi area. Couldn't even find coke in the gas stations. We visit a ye olde touristy shopping center done up like the 1950s. Coke paraphernalia everywhere. I'm like great we can finally get you a coke! Go in a store, all the coolers are coke aesthetic, he's excited. βIt's all Pepsi.
It's hard up out there lmao. (I understand the frustration though, did once have a meltdown after a lot of driving because I couldn't get tea anywhere that wasn't a cheap grocery store teabag at best lol just want good tea before doing another 8hrs straight driving. Ended up angrily making my own in the parking lot like a madwoman lmfao)
I'm a coke guy but will drink Pepsi in restaurants. I've never seen a "convenience" store that only had Pepsi. It doesn't sound very convenient to me.
Was the most weirdly aggressively Pepsi only area I've ever been in haha now I try to make sure we grab him a six pack when we go anywhere new juuuust in case. Haven't run into the situation a second time fortunately lol

They're right though, Pepsi is not god damn "okay". Pepsi is great. (though I'll drink any of my top 5 interchangeably, except for the sugar, and I only have any of them as a treat now after years of drinking way too much.)
If diet Pepsi is your #2, your taste buds are broken.
Diet Pepsi tastes much more like Pepsi compared to Diet Coke/Coke. Pepsi Max could easily be second though depending on my mood.
I've convinced people with blind taste tests, but not much I can do over the internet.
Coke is too sweet and makes my teeth feel weird which is why most of the Pepsi products go above the Cokes.
I don't think Diet Coke was ever meant to taste like Coke. My conspiracy theory is when New Coke bombed, they rebranded it as Diet Coke when they brought back "classic Coke." I just prefer the flavor of diet coke.
If you prefer diet coke your taste buds are broken :-P

Being this passionate about cola is just the marketing that has been internalised as part of one's identity.

What part of the world are you from? I've had various melon-flavored sodas, but they were at World of Coke. I've never seen it in a restaurant.

Not a fan of the spiced cola flavour, but it's not the worst thing out there, it's really nice out of a soda fountain tho.
What the hell is diet pepsi? Pepsi max is already 0 calories?
Diet Coke and Coke Zero are both 0 calories but taste very different.
Pepsi Max was meant to compete with Coke Zero (also uses black in the marketing/logo)
Edit to add: also Diet Pepsi has been around way longer than Pepsi Max, so the correct question is "what the hell is Pepsi Max!?"
