It's simple that they spent their time and energy trying to convince Republicans that would hardly ever cross the aisle while ignoring progressives. That's why they lost. The Republican party is uniform, the Democrats are not.

[–] gofsckyourself@lemmy.world 12 points 11 months ago

Uniformly ~~controlled~~ guided by baseless fear mongering, but yeah.

[–] FrowingFostek@lemmy.world 35 points 11 months ago (2 children)

Why dwell on the Cheney thing?

She and the party didn't offer an economically populist message. Any status quo democrat would have lost.

[–] Zorque@lemmy.world 18 points 11 months ago

Well it's a good thing Trump promises to fix everything by raising prices and deporting everyone with a tan! That's an economically populist message I can get behind!

It just underscores the shitty campaign they ran.

“I will have a Republican in my cabinet, guaranteed.”

[–] LifeInMultipleChoice@lemmy.world 2 points 11 months ago* (last edited 11 months ago)

Where is that quote from? Media distorted her words when having been asked about such. It was around the lines of "Would you consider putting a Republican in your cabinet". And she said sure I believe diversifying views is good.

Far from guaranteeing anything. But w.e, it's all in the past now

Campaigning with the daughter of a war criminal was not a good look, even if it didn't move Kamala right on any actual policy. It's perfectly reasonable to look askance at me if I'm out there doing campaign stops with Uday Hussein, even if I still support a $15 minimum wage.

[–] TachyonTele@lemm.ee 6 points 11 months ago (2 children)

What crimes did his daughter commit?

[–] Anamnesis@lemmy.world 4 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Did I say she committed any crimes?

[–] TachyonTele@lemm.ee 2 points 11 months ago* (last edited 11 months ago) (1 children)

So she's just guilty by association? That's an unfortunate way to judge people.

What bad things did your parent do? I want to judge you for it.

[–] Dkarma@lemmy.world 6 points 11 months ago (1 children)

They're both Republicans so....yes.

[–] TachyonTele@lemm.ee 1 points 11 months ago

That's ignorant. She's been critical of the Republican party for almost a decade.

[–] NoneOfUrBusiness@fedia.io 1 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Not many, but she campaigned for her war criminal father in 2004 so she at least didn't have issues with the principle.

[–] TachyonTele@lemm.ee 2 points 11 months ago (1 children)

What are the "not many" crimes she committed? List them.

[–] NoneOfUrBusiness@fedia.io 2 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Yeah fair enough. That should've been "none".

[–] TachyonTele@lemm.ee 4 points 11 months ago

Props for admitting it. These people are scumbaggish enough, no need to make things up.

[–] Red_October@lemmy.world 2 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Okay, now compare "Campaigned with the daughter of a war criminal" to "Is a war criminal rapist felon con man with dementia." You're arguing that "Not a good look" is worse than "Possibly the actual Anti-Christ."

[–] Anamnesis@lemmy.world 17 points 11 months ago (2 children)

You shouldn't assume that everyone who criticizes Kamala Harris' actions during the campaign supported Trump or didn't vote. That'd make you just as tribal and reactive as Trump supporters.

[–] Red_October@lemmy.world 1 points 11 months ago

Either you voted for Harris or you didn't. This isn't tribal or reactive, this is a basic understanding of how the election works.

[–] vin@lemmynsfw.com 13 points 11 months ago (1 children)

It just made it look too establishment when people want change

[–] IndustryStandard@lemmy.world 12 points 11 months ago

The average Kamala Stan has never followed her campaign nor listened to any of her speeches. Not surprising since every time Kamala said something ridiculous the echo chambers downvoted it into oblivion.

[–] pigup@lemmy.world 11 points 11 months ago

It's hard to be progressive when you are DVDA quadruple spitroasted with billionaire dong. Limits motion.

[–] verdantbanana@lemmy.world 6 points 11 months ago (1 children)

you don't have to move if you are already there

[–] TherapyGary@lemmy.blahaj.zone 1 points 11 months ago

I thought this was the implied conclusion before the last sentence lmao

[–] Hello_there@fedia.io 5 points 11 months ago

What about the "I'm going to put together a council of Republicans to advise the govt"

[–] Thcdenton@lemmy.world 3 points 11 months ago (2 children)

Im just glad that its over with. Here's to hoping the next candidate is better

[–] franklin@lemmy.world 4 points 11 months ago (1 children)

it won't be because it's never about the actual quality of the candidates

[–] Thcdenton@lemmy.world 3 points 11 months ago

You're right but im trying to be optimistic

[–] nova_ad_vitum@lemmy.ca 2 points 11 months ago

Hoping achieves nothing. Participating in the leadership race could at least achieve something.

[–] NoneOfUrBusiness@fedia.io 2 points 11 months ago

This is fucking stupid. Yes, campaigning with Cheney didn't push her to the right in and of itself, but she in the same time period promised to include Republicans in her cabinet and build that stupid border wall, so the existence or lack of a causal relationship frankly doesn't matter.

[–] frankpsy@lemm.ee 2 points 11 months ago

My local Democratic party affiliate literally has the photo of Kamala and Liz Cheney holding hands as their cover photo on FB. It's clear the leadership is conservative themselves and are more than willing to hand victories to Donald Trump and Ron DeSantis in order to deny anyone slightly to their left any sort of power.

Bluesky looks just like twitter. I thought this was from the birdie site.

Now that I look at it, even the logo looks similar.
