Out of Context Comics

Comic panels taken out of comics so we can make fun of them!! We love the golden age stuff!

Rules:

  1. Comics must come from actual comic books. No AI or Photoshops.

  2. Single panels are preferred.

  3. Comics should be unintentionally funny. Spider-man cracking wise is not what this is about.

  4. Don't be a dick.

  5. I can't believe I've had to add this... NO RACISM.

The movie has a lot of flaws, but I think they nailed this entire sequence perfectly. It's so eerie.

I actually kind of like the whole movie but according to several people on the internet that’s a bad thing and I should feel ashamed

[–] TachyonTele@lemm.ee 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

I do too. It's a fun movie.
I don't need a movie to be 100.99999% accurate to the source material. That's not realistic.

Especially with this source material. All things considered I think I enjoyed both about equally for what they are.

I think people like to gang up on it because Alan Moore criticized it, but let's be real, he would never have been happy with a Hollywood movie anyway, and I think it could have been a lot worse.

Alan Moore is ridiculous. He hates his success and he hates anything that he inspired.

I dunno, I quite like his politics, and I think this stance is a byproduct of him sticking to his guns in that aspect

DC just released the first half of an animated version which is a lot closer to the comic. It's still not perfect, but I think it's better than the film.

This comic has a lotta heart. Also numerous arteries and veins.

Some of him...

Because we are trapped in a linear experience of time and can only perceive the part of him intersecting the present slice.

I was kind of sleepy when I walked through the kitchen. Let me check.

HOLY FU

They do make a lot more sense when you know the context, don't they?!

[–] johny@feddit.org 0 points 2 years ago

I literally made a calendar appointment months ago to post this yesterday evening but I still forgot :/

Posting one of the most well known graphic novels ever as "out of context" doesnt really work imo.

[–] Lemjukes@lemm.ee 1 points 2 years ago

Except how? The community isn’t “panels from comics you’ve never seen taken out of context”

It's funny how the perception of ubiquity works. I've never seen this nor anything about watchman. I just have a vague memory that it exists.

[–] isyasad@lemmy.world 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

I've never seen this before and I don't know what it's from

[–] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 1 points 2 years ago

Watchmen, generally considered one of the greatest comics of all time, certainly in the superhero genre. The movie, not so much.

The more you know about comic book history, the better it is too.
