Welcome to the News community!

Rules:

1. Be civil

Attack the argument, not the person. No racism/sexism/bigotry. Good faith argumentation only. This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban. Do not respond to rule-breaking content; report it and move on.

2. All posts should contain a source (url) that is as reliable and unbiased as possible and must only contain one link.

Obvious biased sources will be removed at the mods’ discretion. Supporting links can be added in comments or posted separately but not to the post body. Sources may be checked for reliability using Wikipedia, MBFC, AdFontes, GroundNews, etc.

3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.

Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.

4. Post titles should be the same as the article used as source. Clickbait titles may be removed.

Posts which titles don’t match the source may be removed. If the site changed their headline, we may ask you to update the post title. Clickbait titles use hyperbolic language and do not accurately describe the article content. When necessary, post titles may be edited, clearly marked with [brackets], but may never be used to editorialize or comment on the content.

5. Only recent news is allowed.

Posts must be news from the most recent 30 days.

6. All posts must be news articles.

No opinion pieces, Listicles, editorials, videos, blogs, press releases, or celebrity gossip will be allowed. All posts will be judged on a case-by-case basis. Mods may use discretion to pre-approve videos or press releases from highly credible sources that provide unique, newsworthy content not available or possible in another format.

7. No duplicate posts.

If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.

8. Misinformation is prohibited.

Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.

9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.

All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.

10. Don't copy entire article in your post body

For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.

If only there was some kind of method for safely removing infectious diseases from milk.

[–] iAmTheTot@sh.itjust.works 115 points 1 year ago (3 children)

Honestly milk is just bad for cats in general.

[–] ryannathans@aussie.zone 65 points 1 year ago

At least they wouldn't be dead

I love plenty of things that are bad for me.

[–] NotSteve_@lemmy.ca 6 points 1 year ago (1 children)

You can get milk made for cats that they usually like just as much

[–] BakerBagel@midwest.social 12 points 1 year ago (2 children)

It doesn't matter, my cats are way more interested in the sour cream spoon laying in the sink instead

[–] NotSteve_@lemmy.ca 4 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Lol my cat's the same. If I have a glass of milk, she'll find a way to lick the rim of the glass if I don't stop her

[–] Justas@sh.itjust.works 1 points 1 year ago

Things my cat will prefer over her own food:

  • meat of any kind;
  • potatoes;
  • soup;
  • wet sausage;
  • soft pastries, especially if they have butter in them;
  • sour cream, or any cream for that matter;
  • sauerkraut.

Sour cream is low in lactose (relative to milk), so I think this is not a big deal.

[–] Nonononoki@lemmy.world 6 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Lactose free milk is okay for cats

[–] Rhaedas@fedia.io 14 points 1 year ago

I've got a friend Louie that's been working on something...

[–] lnxtx@feddit.nl 6 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Two shots of vodka will be enough?

[–] massive_bereavement@fedia.io 5 points 1 year ago

Do you mean remeowing it?

[–] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 79 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Someone tell RFK, Jr.! He'll drive the family over so they can watch him skin them and preserve the skulls!

[–] expatriado@lemmy.world 8 points 1 year ago (1 children)

instructions unclear, cat found on Griffith Park

[–] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago

No, it's fine to take its skull away first. It's not like it's a bear.

[–] ramsorge@discuss.online 72 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Stop giving your cat milk!!!! Ffs, they shouldn’t be drinking milk anyway.

Some people are morons.

Some cats don’t have digestive issues with milk. That said, you’re right. Don’t gamble with giving your cat the shits over a treat. There are plenty of decent treats for cats that milk isn’e necessary.

[–] atzanteol@sh.itjust.works 47 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Health officials said in a statement that people who had direct contact with the cats are now being monitored for symptoms and have been offered Tamiflu or other antiviral medications.

As if the people feeding their cats raw milk would take antivirals rather than megadosing vitamine C.

[–] kautau@lemmy.world 6 points 1 year ago

Vitamins? Even that's not homeopathic enough. They'll probably find this trash AI article and trust it to be true https://www.lybrate.com/topic/homeopathic-and-natural-remedies-for-lactose-intolerance/007d52bee0db5ad3dd7b085b5acca3b0

[–] some_guy@lemmy.sdf.org 35 points 1 year ago

Milk isn't good for cats. It's hard on their digestive systems.

This is still awful. If water killed my kitties, I'd be very upset.

[–] MTK@lemmy.world 23 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I hope they mean the musical performers

[–] hakunawazo@lemmy.world 4 points 1 year ago (2 children)

At least some edits of that abomination of a musical are funny (and nsfw).

[–] Iamsqueegee@sh.itjust.works 15 points 1 year ago

You pasteurize after milking!

[–] Evil_Shrubbery@lemm.ee 6 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) (1 children)
