I've seen enough warehouse fails to fully agree.

Mine goes to bucket excavator.

I don't consider forklift to be heavy machinery, at least not the little pallet ones. The seacan ones, absolutely.

"A small electric forklift may weigh around 3,000 lbs (1,360 kg)"

Call me crazy, but I personally draw the line to "heavy" somewhere BELOW a metric ton 😄

I always go to crane

I guess small quadcopters do not count?
"Alright commander, I'm all clear to operate kamikazi drones." 🎇🙈 xD

Only against Russians

[–] SkunkWorkz@lemmy.world 6 points 5 hours ago

They obviously mean my schlong

[–] Zier@fedia.io 2 points 5 hours ago

All machines are heavy, I operate none of them.

[–] Feathercrown@lemmy.world 5 points 6 hours ago

I always think of like an excavator lol

[–] Etterra@discuss.online 7 points 7 hours ago

Having driven both, I can safely say that they meant both.

I think it's spelled Baelor 😉

[–] Blackfeathr@lemmy.world 34 points 14 hours ago (1 children)

I drive a forklift for a living and I equate "heavy machinery" as a bulldozer or something, lol.

[–] toynbee@lemmy.world 5 points 5 hours ago

To be fair, I probably couldn't lift either.

[–] ThatGuy46475@lemmy.world 14 points 13 hours ago

It says don’t drive or operate heavy machinery, the additional clarification is precisely because people will think “well a forklift isn’t a car”

[–] hayvan@piefed.world 66 points 19 hours ago (2 children)

Wait they aren't talking about cranes?

I once zoned out of driving for a solid 5 minutes on my way home from work as a teen because my brain didn't equate heavy machinery with car. Got onto highway...turning off of highway. Nothing in between. Needless to say, I've never made that mistake again.

[–] Viking_Hippie@lemmy.dbzer0.com 19 points 15 hours ago (1 children)

work as a teen

Interesting profession

[–] Dzheyk@sh.itjust.works 4 points 13 hours ago

Long hours, always underappreciated, also thought pretty highly of myself too for someone with very little work experience

[–] Botzo@lemmy.world 4 points 12 hours ago

This happened to me on a regular basis for a couple years, just sans medication.

Coming to in the parking lot or badging in and realizing you have no idea what happened between getting in the car and now.

3am start times with a 20min drive will do that to you.

[–] phx@lemmy.world 2 points 13 hours ago

I mean, it would be better off to say "motor vehicle" or at least include that with "heavy machinery", but chances are this would reduce use for a lot of medications when people need to drive to/from work etc so it gives them convenient out lawsuit-wise

[–] Janx@piefed.social 6 points 15 hours ago (1 children)

My mind always goes to all garbage mashers on the detention level.

[–] fantacyde@lemmy.blahaj.zone 5 points 13 hours ago

No, shut them all down!

[–] ExtremeDullard@piefed.social 12 points 18 hours ago

It's even worse than that: when I'm zoned out of my mind, nothing feels heavy anymore. So I can operate anything safely, right?

[–] Diddlydee@feddit.uk 8 points 18 hours ago (1 children)

Big ball and chain thing for knocking down buildings for me

[–] snowsuit2654@piefed.blahaj.zone 6 points 18 hours ago (1 children)

I believe that's called a wrecking ball

Depends how heavy it is, I guess 🤷🏻

[–] Mouselemming@sh.itjust.works 3 points 8 hours ago

And how strong your arms are.

[–] JoeBigelow@lemmy.ca 3 points 15 hours ago (3 children)

Right? What about my top handle climbing saw? I think it weighs 7.5lbs

[–] Etterra@discuss.online 1 points 7 hours ago

Which sounds light until you have to lug it around all day.

[–] Mouselemming@sh.itjust.works 1 points 7 hours ago (1 children)

Is that like the guy I watched for a few hours as he climbed the redwood tree that towers up past the 6-story apartment across the street, lopping off limbs as he went, flipping his waist rope a little higher with his left hand and wielding his chain saw with his right?

[–] JoeBigelow@lemmy.ca 1 points 1 hour ago

He shouldn't be spiking a live tree, redwoods may have thick enough bark though I'm on the East Coast

[–] Pat_Riot@lemmy.today 3 points 15 hours ago (1 children)

Light machine. I think you're good to go.

[–] JoeBigelow@lemmy.ca 2 points 14 hours ago

What about the bucket truck? The truck doesn't move when I'm in the bucket!

[–] Kolanaki@pawb.social 5 points 18 hours ago

What if my ride was an ultralight? 🤔
