Dad hopefully shoved you the user manual and BASIC reference guide into your face?
RTFM, Bucko
Read The Buckin' Manual, Fucko
The old RTFM.
But actually I was referencing the manuals for the questions being asked.
When it's the 80s and computers were 'new' to the home, seeing a data array in a manual didn't explain how or what you do with it.
So next step ask parents, whom also didn't know.
Next step go to the library and ask if they had a book on BASIC or computers. The librarian shakes her head but leads you to the only computer book, which is like the 1960s history of the Mainframe. LOL
Data Array question finally got answered in a 1986 computer course offered at the highschool.
Jesus Christ, you're as old as my mom.
I don't personally see myself as old, but grey pubic hair has started.
This is why I opted out of having kids.
I decided not to have kids too. My wife understands, but my two sons are a bit shaken by it.

I honestly wonder what would parenting mean to me
I didn't have younger siblings to test it out, but I love being asked questions and explaining the world to others. Is it that people get tired of it quickly, or the questions are too silly and oddly formulated, or untimely, or too loud, or something?
P.S. I never expected to get so much brilliant and hilarious parenting advice, you rock!
With my kids, it's not the asking of the questions I mind, as I love answering questions too! Being a dad is one of my favorite things ever. The part that gets frustrating is when. They ask me a question but don't listen to my response. It's not that they didn't understand, mind you... they simply tuned me out as soon as I started talking. And believe me, I'm explaining things in a way they could understand. That drives me nuts when anyone does this, like don't make me waste my breath! Why bother to ask?
I've come up with a good punishment at least: I either ball up my fist and punch 'em in the butt, or I choke their pet rabbit while telling them "look what you did! This is your fault!" Nothin' wrong with that, amirite?

I taught some cousin's kids how to swim. I tried to teach my daughter to swim but she refused to listen. Enrolled her in swimming classes where the teacher said and did the exact same things and she went on about how they showed her the exact same things and it worked. Literally the same things with the same amount of patience. Repeat this pattern for her first 17 years of life on various stuff, it just had to come from someone else.
She finally started listening to me this year about stuff! Yay! I didn't change anything, she just finally decided that maybe I do know what I'm talking about.
Could it also be that she saw other kids doing the same? Peer pressure seems to be a huge part of child psychology, and there are ways to weaponise it for good. Such as giving a child to classes :)
It was also the case when it was one on one with of her teachers/coaches. I'm sure someone will jump in with "it was something you did" but seriously I have no issues with teaching other kids, she just didn't want to learn from me or her mom.
Maybe she resented us for making her clean up her room and do other chores or something.
Could be, lol
When you're in the middle of cleaning up something they just broke while also cooking dinner, answering "whats dirt made of?" can be a little frustrating.
I see lol
Feels like teaching the child basic household stuff is a thing of very early priority :D
I encourage the questions (and have had some really cool ones, like why don't we have two suns, or where did the first person come from) but yes, especially young kids ask questions because they want to hear you talk, and often they are the same one over and over, or don't make sense, or are asked to delay something else. I mostly only answer the exciting well thought out questions and encourage them to try harder if it's not a good question (for their age).
That's a fair approach, I'd say! Though, if they love to hear you talk, and you can spare some time for that, it sounds like a great investment.
But yeah, being quite introverted, I can see it easily crossing the line, too, especially when I'm not up to talking.
My kids are getting older now (oldest is 9) and I allocate time at bed time for talking. They have aged out of random questions but we continue with "question time" that is the last thing before "lying down quiet time" so there's a good incentive to think of questions to delay sleep 😁
Wow, that's smart lol
Two birds with one stone :)
In my expirience, they tend to make a lot of questions, sometimes very silly ones and many times very quickly they also (since they are kids) cannot understand when it's a good moment to make questions which is the most annoying thing
Yeah I thought of that! As someone introverted, it's very easy to come to me at the wrong time and have me annoyed. Takes some patience to keep going :)
Yeah i am introverted too so i can get annoyed very easly, I understand
You don't need to be a parent for this, just anyone who spends time with young children. At least they can usually annunciate by the time they're five or six.
