President Donald Trump spent early Tuesday night making desperate phone calls and blasting Fox News before midterm election results came in.

“I have the ultimate power — it’s called ‘veto,’” President Trump told CBS News in a phone interview before polls first began to close in some states. Already, Trump appeared to make excuses for a potentially massive Republican loss.

Trump also called the Financial Times, assuring reporter Edward Lucas that the U.S. has no immediate plans to strike Iran, the Middle East country Trump started a war with in February.

Trump had a particular grudge against Fox News Tuesday night, texting commentator Greg Gutfeld about his disdain for liberal Fox News commentator Jessica Tarlov.

I'm just happy he's suffering.

[–] sexy_peach@feddit.org 109 points 3 days ago (3 children)

Same, hopefully dying soon

[–] im_fine_sandy@nord.pub 60 points 3 days ago (5 children)

No way. I want to watch him and his cronies squirm in court first. He can die after that.

[–] Feidry@sh.itjust.works 59 points 3 days ago (4 children)

I don't care about making him suffer. There's been enough suffering because of him. I just want him to die and be rid of him for good.

[–] sexy_peach@feddit.org 28 points 3 days ago (4 children)

Same, also I don't trust americans to not elect him again.

Any additional stress on him can only hasten the ultimate solution to his madness.

[–] FullPenguin@lemmy.world 29 points 3 days ago (2 children)

And let him and his friends get off that easy? No way, try them all, convict them, send them to prison or the gallows, and claw back as much of the money they've gained at the expensive of the country as possible.

[–] orclev@lemmy.world 21 points 3 days ago (3 children)

Even if he died he should still be tried posthumously, if only to give his victims closure, claw back some of the money he's stolen for those victims, and to insure his legacy as the most criminal president of the US is properly recorded. It will also be important for the cases against his collaborators.

Not nearly enough for the suffering he's unleashed on the entire human race

I don't think about him. I'm a fish.

[–] Treczoks@lemmy.world 26 points 3 days ago

He has served well as the millstone around the Republican neck. Time for him to get a stroke over the vote results and croak.

His Gold Diapers must be filling up fast.

[–] 800XL@lemmy.world 23 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Spoiler, a presidential veto isn't the be-all-end-all. It can be overturned by a 2/3 majority in both houses. Not saying it wouldn't be super difficult to pull off but it is still there.

[–] Avicenna@programming.dev 10 points 2 days ago (1 children)

There were already some republicans that didn't like Trump. With these results there will more opportunistic parasites that will look to jump ship so maybe possible if democrats play the manipulation game right.

[–] AdolfSchmitler@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago

Im sure some will gleefully flee that sinking ship and look out for their themselves in their next election cycle. Trump and maga are toxic to be associated with.

[–] Buffalox@lemmy.world 96 points 3 days ago (1 children)

a clearly frantic Trump blamed a potential Republican loss on everyone but himself.

Of course he did. 🤡

[–] Atelopus-zeteki@fedia.io 39 points 3 days ago (6 children)

Mr. 'pretend I'm on the ballot'. And we did, and he lost.

Wait, didn’t he bomb them yesterday?

Two more years of this crap….

[–] HazardousBanjo@lemmy.world 58 points 3 days ago (6 children)

Maybe not.

The GOP civil war has started, its just a matter of who will fire the first bullet and when?

We've heard for years GOP congressmen HATE Trump. Now they see America HATES Trump too. Who (if any) will scramble to cross party lines to impeach and remove to save their own careers?

I mean, we shouldn't let them save their own careers, but we should let them act like there's a chance to appease us before we vote them out and (god willing) prosecute them.

[–] tburkhol@lemmy.world 21 points 3 days ago (4 children)

Americans on the whole hate Trump, but there's still that core of 30-ish% who love him uncritically. They're all Republicans, which makes them around 60% of the GOP and more than enough to determine primary outcomes. It's hard to get nominated as a Republican without Trump, and now we see that it's hard to win with Trump.

I suspect that most of those cult members will just stop voting once their idol fades away. Maybe that will let the Republicans recover in 2030, but you just know Trump's going to be out for his base in 2028.

Fox News is liberal now, wow.

[–] Dryad@lemmy.world 55 points 3 days ago (6 children)

“Liberal“ is anything the senile dear leader doesn’t understand or that bruises his soggy paper ego, so this case yes.

[–] jaykrown@lemmy.world 38 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Good, get him the fuck out of here and raise taxes on the wealthy immediately.

[–] Nouvellalia@lemmy.world 16 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

To 1939 levels, but on wealth, not just income.

[–] Spiv@lemmy.world 46 points 3 days ago (3 children)

Definition of a good day: Any day Trump is suffering

[–] CedricWhaley@lemmy.dbzer0.com 28 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago)

The day his suffering ends will also be pretty good.

What a loser.

[–] DagwoodIII@piefed.social 39 points 3 days ago (1 children)

I've been waiting for this for a decade.

[–] HazardousBanjo@lemmy.world 32 points 3 days ago (26 children)

This is just the tease.

What we've been waiting for is impeachment, removal and prosecution.

Maybe some barbiturates and alcohol will help.

[–] Lushed_Lungfish@lemmy.ca 11 points 2 days ago (1 children)

He could go pull a Hitler...

[–] modus@lemmy.world 9 points 2 days ago (4 children)

We should collectively find a euphemism for suicide and call it Trump. As in "He Trumped himself with a .45 in the mouth."

[–] perturbedstarstuff@lemmy.world 8 points 2 days ago (2 children)

I figured that was already a euphemism for shitting yourself.
