Come on piggy, only 60%? Your buddy Kim Jung-Un is pulling 98.99%. Surely you can be the most popular president ever in the history of the universe!

[–] DonkeyStar@lemmy.world 12 points 16 hours ago

I’m shocked he was willing to go that low.

[–] ThePowerOfGeek@lemmy.world 14 points 19 hours ago

In other words: his handlers / string-pullers told him most people love him. So it must be true because it makes his fee-fees tingle.

[–] Mulligrubs@lemmy.world 17 points 20 hours ago

Somehow, again, coincidentally, all of the Earth is lying and only Trump knows the truth.

What are the odds? Poor guy just can't catch a break other than his entire life and two Presidential terms

The Party told you to reject the evidence of your eyes and ears.

[–] Buffalox@lemmy.world 95 points 1 day ago (12 children)

Trump is a malignant narcissist suffering from dementia. Everything he says is most likely in no way related to reality, so please stop reporting and posting crap about what Trump is saying.

[–] sexhaver87@sh.itjust.works 27 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Oh, but they never will, the news media hasn’t stopped talking about Trump since before 2016. It’s been a decade of Trump. Stay prepared for more. They won’t stop now, not while he’s still got a pulse.

[–] Mulligrubs@lemmy.world 10 points 23 hours ago* (last edited 23 hours ago)

In his first run Trump got more coverage in the press than every other candidate combined.

[–] Buffalox@lemmy.world 3 points 21 hours ago

You are right, it's mostly wishful thinking, I bet when he dies they will write about his children. 🤮

[–] Malica@lemmy.zip 3 points 21 hours ago (1 children)

They're complicit with him and they put all their eggs in his basket, they have to keep trying to spin this.

[–] Buffalox@lemmy.world 2 points 8 hours ago

Absolutely the media are highly complicit in Trump winning the election both times. And the media are owned by the 1%.
USA is not a functioning democracy.

The 60% approval rating came from the Muscovite and CCP mobile phones.

[–] Mulligrubs@lemmy.world 2 points 20 hours ago (1 children)

Check out Tennessee some day, you're in for quite a shock

[–] Gammelfisch@lemmy.world 5 points 20 hours ago

Travelled around Tennessee, Alabama, Kentucky, parts of Mississippi and Arkansas. Beautiful landscape and scenery until you see the MAGA fucknuts. No thanks, I would not live in the shit they continue to vote for.

His ego is writing checks that his brain can't cash. -J-Roc

[–] stickyprimer@lemmy.world 2 points 22 hours ago

Dude’s brain is overdrawn. It can’t cash any check.

[–] twjolson@lemmy.world 9 points 23 hours ago (1 children)

Maine being able to set your own approval rating... And going only 60%.

What a moron.

[–] tazeycrazy@feddit.uk 4 points 20 hours ago

He polled people in the white house. Forgot to exclude the staff.

[–] artyom@piefed.social 23 points 1 day ago (2 children)

He didn't "insist his approval rating is really at 60%". Quote from the article says:

I don’t believe I could be beaten by anybody. I think that if I needed it, which I don’t, I think 60.

Which, as usual, makes absolutely no fucking sense. Because the one thing you do need to win an election is approval. Or maybe it's a reference to his earlier promises to "cheat like hell"? As in, he doesn't need approval because he's going to cheat? Who fuckin knows what goes this this guy's head? But then he provides no source for the 60 number, because he clearly made up on the spot.

I would also like to point out that you both noticed that he mentioned it.

[–] stickyprimer@lemmy.world 2 points 22 hours ago

He has a point that approval rating is one thing but winning is another. As soon as he’s matched up against an actual person the game changes completely. People will vote for someone they don’t approve of very much in order to block someone they despise. “Hypothetical Democratic candidate” probably polls higher than any of Kamala, Newsom, Bernie. AOC, Buttigieg, anyone.

[–] Tolookah@discuss.tchncs.de 23 points 1 day ago (1 children)

His handlers have been feeding him lies

[–] artyom@piefed.social 14 points 1 day ago

100%. Look at what happens when he sits at a table with all his henchmen. The meeting always starts with going around the table kissing his ass. What are the chances they're NOT also saying "MR.PRESIDENT YOU'RE SO GREAT, LOOK; EVERYONE LOVES YOU!"?

[–] jaschen306@sh.itjust.works 17 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Why stop at 60 if you're just going to make shit up. Say 100% .... Or 11000394847292%.

[–] Corkyskog@sh.itjust.works 13 points 1 day ago

Because he is a narcissist, so he is not just trying to convince you, he has to pick a number that he can convince his ego of.

[–] stickyprimer@lemmy.world 2 points 22 hours ago

He thrives on antagonism so there’s no pretending 100%.

[–] akilou@sh.itjust.works 14 points 1 day ago

If you're going to make up a number that no one will believe anyway, why stop at 60%?

[–] lol_idk@piefed.social 7 points 1 day ago

He’s not wrong, polls are fake. People will still vote for him if he ran even if they say they disapprove of him

[–] Bwaz@lemmy.world 4 points 22 hours ago

hilarious. I bet he's in the 20s at best.

[–] Takeshidude@lemmy.world 6 points 1 day ago (1 children)

"No I'm not hated by almost everyone, I'm only hated by almost half of everyone " doesn't feel like quite the flex he thinks it is

And I say my poverty is fake and I actually have 60 billion in the bank.

[–] Nonprophet@lemmy.world 4 points 23 hours ago

'Natalie told me!'

President Trump has a different way of calculating ...[percentages]

from rfk, jr about maga math

[–] foggy@lemmy.world 5 points 1 day ago

It must be kinda nice to be so narcissistic that you're genuinely delusional.

[–] HumanOnEarth@lemmy.ca 3 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Tick tock 9 days.

What's your plan if the midterms don't stop MAGA?

[–] Mulligrubs@lemmy.world 5 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (2 children)

What do you think would be different? Seriously.

They won't pass minimum wage increase, they won't impose term limits, they won't make an age cap, they won't pass universal healthcare, and so on.

They won't release the Epstein files. You know, like every other time for 20 years

(I'm voting, and you should too. But great expectations are at this point ridiculous)

[–] HumanOnEarth@lemmy.ca 3 points 22 hours ago

Not American, but....ending the obvious slide into fascism?

[–] vaultdweller013@sh.itjust.works 2 points 21 hours ago

The midterms are an emergency break, even if the Dems win the most likely outcome is that the legislative branch can at least try to counter some of Trump's nonsense IE Iran but otherwise will simply work as not being a rubber stamp.

Personally I'm not expecting much, but the possibility that he cant appoint any more judges in the courts is good enough by itself let alone the possibility that there are no more funding bills passed.
