Mildly Interesting

This is for strictly mildly interesting material. If it's too interesting, it doesn't belong. If it's not interesting, it doesn't belong.

This is obviously an objective criteria, so the mods are always right. Or maybe mildly right? Ahh.. what do we know?

Just post some stuff and don't spam.

He's got to be the painter, right?

[–] FatVegan@leminal.space 3 points 1 day ago

My fuess is: chatgpt: mak me picture look like painted

[–] VieuxQueb@lemmy.ca 5 points 2 days ago

That is what I thought, someone in that home must be a painter.

[–] Jackhammer_Joe@lemmy.world 8 points 2 days ago (1 children)

A beautiful T....(?), but great execution?

[–] NOT_RICK@lemmy.world 12 points 2 days ago

I messed up the acronym, my bad. In my head it’s a bit trashy but great execution but you motivated me to check and it’s actually awful taste, not a bit trashy.

This is so weird... Like, yikes lol.

Saves your guests from needing to figure out you've outsourced your personality, I guess

Nah, this seems like it would circle back around to implying a personality, given the amount of work involved in this (they look like real paintings to me). It’s a nice house with a pretty view, but they probably don’t have the kind of money you need to commission over a dozen very skilled paintings. That likely means that they’re painting them themselves, and that’s a hell of a lot more interesting than most people’s hobbies.

Like, why spend so much time on… this? Is it truly just for the meme? That’s weirdly self-sacrificing: they’re essentially spending months if not years of their time painting these just to bring a slight smile to a bunch of people’s faces. I don’t know if the utilitarian math works out there, but for him it’s definitely a loss. Is this gif itself a piece of art, representing an aspect of society with a bland and hollow house filled with memetic art placed in a landscape that looks like it used to be wilderness?

I have a feeling I’d either have a great conversation with them or I’d send them into an existential spiral (not my intention, but looking at those questions from the perspective of someone who is proud of their house and homemade art which they find fulfilling… yeeesh).

Or they’re not real paintings, lol

Some people just like memes ~ I like looking at them, they amuse me

[–] idiomaddict@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago (2 children)

I do too, but I don’t like them enough to spend even a whole day making a representation of one (hell, sometimes I just describe to someone what a meme would be like instead of going to the trouble of a few minutes’ work to make it). We’ve all got different levels of tolerance for that, but do they amuse you enough for months-years of effort?

[–] HerbalGamer@sh.itjust.works 2 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I'd guess it started as a sort of painting exercise.

[–] idiomaddict@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I mean, yeah, but why choose memes? Do they literally just like looking at them (for hundreds of hours)? If so, why- as in what feeling do they get when they look at memes? Have memes played a significant role in their life? Are they making a statement about the world- and if so, what?

[–] HerbalGamer@sh.itjust.works 1 points 1 day ago (1 children)

is classical paintings of memes not a meme in itself and in becoming so, has it not become art?

[–] idiomaddict@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago

That’s one way of seeing it! I’d be interested in hearing more about their thoughts in that case. If they weren’t considering that, I’d want to know what their motivations were.

The only thing I’m saying here is that I don’t think this person has no personality. Even if they were just doing it for the meme, there’s something deeper there.

I don't think it was prohibited, and they would still have androgen hormones to help with that

[–] Anchorxiety@reddthat.com 11 points 2 days ago

This is what we call "fine taste", children.

What a beautiful house.

Does this meme nothing to you?!

[–] snooggums@piefed.world 14 points 2 days ago

Fun and enjoyment!

I loved the disaster girl sneaking a peek from the right corner at the very end.

For the lulz

[–] Jackhammer_Joe@lemmy.world 2 points 2 days ago (1 children)

It's that a special remix of the song? It slaps!

[–] brax@sh.itjust.works 5 points 2 days ago

I don't here anything different from the original aside from the volume fade-in at the start?

[–] dohpaz42@lemmy.world 0 points 2 days ago (4 children)

This feels oddly AI generated.

[–] egrets@lemmy.world 11 points 2 days ago (1 children)

The one thing more tiring than a stream of AI-generated content is a feed of real content with people baselessly commenting that it's AI. Your broad complaint is valid but it's misplaced so often that it's utterly fucking exhausting -- please be more judicious.

[–] dohpaz42@lemmy.world 1 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

Since you brought it up, I never once accused op of posting AI content. In fact, you’d be hard pressed to find any comment I’ve made accusing anyone of posting AI, and if by chance I did it was very few and very far between. What I did say, Mr. Judicious, is that it feels oddly like AI. And I even stated why in response to OP. That is a huge leap to accusations of AI.

i saw this on reddit, i stopped visiting that site june 2023, if you asked me to guess i saw it 5 to 7 years ago

[–] pelespirit@sh.itjust.works 3 points 2 days ago (1 children)

You must not have watched it. There is a reflection of him in the window.

[–] dohpaz42@lemmy.world 0 points 2 days ago (2 children)

I did watch it. Tell me about that dining room lighting situation. And those pixelized pictures; only the pixelized pictures, because everything else was fine.

[–] rarWars@lemmy.blahaj.zone 1 points 1 day ago

It's a 39 second unbroken shot with consistent movement, geometry, and reflections. Video compression and slightly tacky architecture ≠ AI.

[–] pelespirit@sh.itjust.works 3 points 2 days ago

The AI detective is on the case! I'm sure it will be solved and not devolve into an argument. It looked like either a stabilizer on his camera or in post.
