Community Rules

You must post before you leave

Be nice. Assume others have good intent (within reason).

Block or ignore posts, comments, and users that irritate you in some way rather than engaging. Report if they are actually breaking community rules.

Use content warnings and/or mark as NSFW when appropriate. Most posts with content warnings likely need to be marked NSFW.

Most 196 posts are memes, shitposts, cute images, or even just recent things that happened, etc. There is no real theme, but try to avoid posts that are very inflammatory, offensive, very low quality, or very "off topic".

Bigotry is not allowed, this includes (but is not limited to): Homophobia, Transphobia, Racism, Sexism, Abelism, Classism, or discrimination based on things like Ethnicity, Nationality, Language, or Religion.

Avoid shilling for corporations, posting advertisements, or promoting exploitation of workers.

Proselytization, support, or defense of authoritarianism is not welcome. This includes but is not limited to: imperialism, nationalism, genocide denial, ethnic or racial supremacy, fascism, Nazism, Marxism-Leninism, Maoism, etc.

Avoid AI generated content.

Avoid misinformation.

Avoid incomprehensible posts.

No threats or personal attacks.

No spam.

Moderator Guidelines

Moderator Guidelines

  • Don’t be mean to users. Be gentle or neutral.
  • Most moderator actions which have a modlog message should include your username.
  • When in doubt about whether or not a user is problematic, send them a DM.
  • Don’t waste time debating/arguing with problematic users.
  • Assume the best, but don’t tolerate sealioning/just asking questions/concern trolling.
  • Ask another mod to take over cases you struggle with, if you get tired, or when things get personal.
  • Ask the other mods for advice when things get complicated.
  • Share everything you do in the mod matrix, both so several mods aren't unknowingly handling the same issues, but also so you can receive feedback on what you intend to do.
  • Don't rush mod actions. If a case doesn't need to be handled right away, consider taking a short break before getting to it. This is to say, cool down and make room for feedback.
  • Don’t perform too much moderation in the comments, except if you want a verdict to be public or to ask people to dial a convo down/stop. Single comment warnings are okay.
  • Send users concise DMs about verdicts about them, such as bans etc, except in cases where it is clear we don’t want them at all, such as obvious transphobes. No need to notify someone they haven’t been banned of course.
  • Explain to a user why their behavior is problematic and how it is distressing others rather than engage with whatever they are saying. Ask them to avoid this in the future and send them packing if they do not comply.
  • First warn users, then temp ban them, then finally perma ban them when they break the rules or act inappropriately. Skip steps if necessary.
  • Use neutral statements like “this statement can be considered transphobic” rather than “you are being transphobic”.
  • No large decisions or actions without community input (polls or meta posts f.ex.).
  • Large internal decisions (such as ousting a mod) might require a vote, needing more than 50% of the votes to pass. Also consider asking the community for feedback.
  • Remember you are a voluntary moderator. You don’t get paid. Take a break when you need one. Perhaps ask another moderator to step in if necessary.

Wow Twitter 2.0 turned out to also be shit?

What a surprise!

Its almost like this was bound to happen to a capitalist for-profit corporation, no matter if it identifies as 'benefit'!

Makes me feel even better about my choice ~ 3 years ago to join lemmy. Stay awesome people.

[–] Damage@slrpnk.net 43 points 2 days ago (3 children)

I'd like to use Mastodon as well but I just can't get into micro logging I guess, I forget to check it

[–] warm@kbin.earth 16 points 2 days ago

That's where Mbin's microblog section and combined feed comes into play!

[–] grrgyle@slrpnk.net 7 points 2 days ago

I never liked Twitter but I'm into Mastodon. I dunno, I just kept going back and trying it until I found my folx. Now I'm on there because of maybe two dozen really cool people who are great to chat with and keep tabs on

[–] NKBTN@feddit.uk 3 points 2 days ago

It's more that nobody I know, including weblebreties, are on it. Except for Cory Doctorow (a bit)

[–] vaultdweller013@sh.itjust.works 5 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Same but it's mostly cause I got banned off reddit, apparently I'm not allowed to suggest death for the Saudi royal family, or the UAE, or Qatar, or Israel, or Turkey, or Russia, or China, or England, or France, or the US, or India, or Argentina... Y'know what I may actually be the problem for once... Nah it's the authoritarian cock suckers who are the problem.

Why not both? Become the problem for the problem!

Don't worry, the AI will come here eventually.
Then where do we go

[–] FrowingFostek@lemmy.world 29 points 2 days ago (4 children)
[–] AtomicHotSauce@piefed.social 16 points 2 days ago

Please, no.

[–] CheesyFingers@piefed.social 5 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I'm already outside anyway, i just come here when I'm bored and/or at work

[–] FrowingFostek@lemmy.world 2 points 2 days ago

Same but, I've grown attached to the community here so I feel as though I live here too.

[–] SatyrSack@quokk.au 8 points 2 days ago

Until the AI takes that too

[–] SkaveRat@discuss.tchncs.de 4 points 2 days ago

But I already touched grass this year

You either die a hero... or live long enough to implement Artificial Slop in your product.

It's a slippery slope and we're all wearing roller skates.

[–] Viking_Hippie@lemmy.dbzer0.com 21 points 2 days ago (1 children)

And most of us have had the skates strapped on against our will.

[–] caurvo@aussie.zone 5 points 2 days ago

The ground is slowly being replaced with wheels. And also there are people at the top of the hill pouring soapy water and oil down the hill. Also they are shooting at those not wearing roller skates. Also the people at the bottom of the hill are setting up spikes at the bottom.

for context:
Attie (@attie.ai) — Bluesky
Attie - AI assistant platform built on the AT Protocol, offering conversational AI, shaping Bluesky feeds, and collecting and sharing information on the Atmosphere.

[–] GalacticSushi@lemmy.blahaj.zone 28 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Wait is that a Twitter url at the end of their post??

i think bluesky uses their twitter account to advertise themselves.

[–] Avicenna@programming.dev 18 points 2 days ago

I mean two years ago it wasn't even that hard to side with anti-AI since even the simple code it produced was generally buggy, let alone making software with it. They just waited until it was more reliable and farmed some PR while waiting. That is the basic summary of every large company, minimize the path to profit.

[–] jaybone@lemmy.zip 25 points 2 days ago

Did they forget to switch their alt account?

[–] alapakala@quokk.au 14 points 2 days ago (2 children)
[–] Ratio_Tile@lemmy.blahaj.zone 41 points 2 days ago (2 children)

The reason this is funny is that Bluesky added an AI named Attie. Fediverse has no such abominable intelligence.

[–] CobraCommander@quokk.au 14 points 2 days ago (1 children)
[–] FreddiesLantern@leminal.space 35 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Please pull over your phone!

[–] alapakala@quokk.au 1 points 2 days ago

I begin to wonder, if this is denial, counterintelligence, or Dunning–Kruger.
Ai is here.
Has always been.
Denial shouldn't be conversed🔞.

[–] pulsewidth@lemmy.world 25 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Bluesky ain't the Fediverse.

[–] alapakala@quokk.au -1 points 2 days ago (1 children)

yet AI is a core value of fediverse⬆️

[–] pulsewidth@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Honestly I have no idea what you're talking about.
