I tried watching one anime to see if I was wrong. Watched high school of the dead, was met with crazy bouncing boobs between a sniper rifle shot. Regretted my decision immediately. All of it screams pedophilia to me.
It's one thing to have a cool shot, but it went on for 10+ seconds of bouncing animated tits. Just not interested in animated porn. Maybe if i was 12.
I feel like if you're gonna give a specific style of media exactly one good faith try, that should warrant a bit more careful curation lol. Like, why not go with something pretty much everyone agrees generally is great like a Ghibli film? What made you choose THIS anime of all things?

You know what? Fair! I'm also guilty of generally not liking something, experiencing something related to it and just completely forgetting the association when I end up liking it. Kiki's Delivery Service is my personal fave, so when you get the chance I really hope you enjoy!
I agree with what the other person said. You might click more with seinen anime, which tend to include much more adult oriented conflicts. But if you enjoy interpersonal drama/romance though, josei anime is extremely underrated since it's usually aimed towards women.
Would probably help if ya watched some Seinen which is generally of a higher quality. May I suggest Hellsing Ultimate and Black Lagoon? Just be ready for some proper ultra violence, also pretty sure all the characters are of age.
I did try chainsaw man, but just couldn't get into it. I thought the idea was interesting though.
Yeah that's a rough one to get into, it's good don't get me wrong but fuck. But you are kinda on the right track, just approach anime like you would different art mediums with similar properties, anime is to western animation what bronze working is to stone working. Best suggestions I can give is like I said Hellsing and Black Lagoon but I'd also add Ghost in the Shell (1990s version), Netflix Castlevania, and fuck it I'll toss in Star Wars Visions since it is anime. Really stay away from Shonen unless it's basically Jojo or Attack on Titan since they are just kinda doing their own things and don't follow the tropes all that much.
Edit: Also Fullmetal Alchemist brotherhood worth a watch by itself.
Bruh if you see that scene as porn rather than absurdist humor and satire, you might have some weird repressed kinks. Which, not saying that's a bad thing necessarily, just that you might wanna look at things through a different lens

I just calculated if you try catch up with all 1180 episodes today, then you need to watch for 12 hours per day without a single second of interruption for 38 days, to get to today's most recent episode.
Sometimes it can be nice to have a consistent ongoing side project tbh. I started one piece when it had about 800 episodes, took ages but its far from a slog, killer story all the way through.
Sometimes I binged 10 episodes straight sometimes only 3 or 4.
Caught up within 6 or so months watching everything (including fillers) until the Punk Hazard Arc.
Since then I am following the show live (more or less)
28 days. There’s 18 minutes pf material per episode. The rest is extremely long title sequence and recaps to pad out time.

Did you take into account effective watch time? I would exclude intro and outro... also some animes spend 3-5 minutes repeating the last 3-5 minutes from last episode (almost verbatim, super cheap imo).
Edit: according to this source, it's between 18 and 20 minutes of actual watch time. Not bad at all.
1179 episodes, 20 min per episode, 12 hs max a day... 32,75 days
There was one anime where an episode ends with the protagonist barely winning a very bloody fight. I made a snap judgment “He’s probably going to need to spend an episode recovering from his injuries, so I’ll just skip one.”
I think I got it dead on and it honestly didn’t seem like I missed much. But I have no idea what that guidance should be for One Piece.

Wonder how much the One Pace series eliminates from the watch time? Lmfao I watch it when I need to catch up and it honestly helps a lot.
Last time I checked (about a year ago) it's ~40% of the original run time.
For anyone not already aware, One Pace is a fan profect to re-edit the series to reduce runtime like overly long shots, repeating animations, and recaps. It also condenses 3-6 episodes into one hour super episodes to reduce how often the intro/outro credits run because they also take up a lot of time

Maybe wait for next year, there will be a remake that should compress the episodes published by Netflix.
I love it, but the length is certainly a hurdle. It took me years to get through the anime, and there were several points where it felt like it took multiple episodes to make even the most minor progress in the story. Still, though, the story itself is great, and it seems that recently things are back to the snappy pace that the beginning of the show used to have, at least where the dub leaves off.
I've recently been using one pace to watch the anime. I found that is cuts a lot of "shocked face" shots that last a unnecessarily long time and a few others

If you have not started, I'd recommend waiting for "the one piece", a remake of the anime that will be much shorter, it will probably be a much more reasonable commitment to see it. It should start airing in february 2027.
For an even quicker speedrun, LEGO One Piece comes out on Tuesday.
