Ironically Trump is making a bigger case for getting off of fossil fuels than any Democrat could.

'Shart' of war, surely?

[–] Programman4233@lemmy.dbzer0.com 7 points 21 hours ago (1 children)

More like the art of losing a war

[–] captainlezbian@lemmy.world 2 points 18 hours ago

"Any time you establish goals you risk the possibility of failing to achieve them, the wise general abandons such foolishness and instead focuses on simply killing the opponents"

[–] rumimevlevi@sh.itjust.works 28 points 21 hours ago (1 children)

Why nobody mention that Saudi arabia restarted the war by attacking an envoy returning from Khamanei funeral leading to this?

[–] bedwyr@piefed.ca 4 points 20 hours ago (3 children)

You have a link?

Iran really should assassinate the leaders of the Saudis and UAE. Patience is a virtue, just get the pieces in place, and wait.

[–] finallymadeanaccount@lemmy.world 6 points 19 hours ago

There's a genocidal war criminal in Israel could use a bit of that.

[–] anarchy79@lemmy.world 4 points 17 hours ago

I mean they literally invented assassins, the whole thing writes itself.

They are ruled by families, killinggnillik and they current leaders is useless

[–] anarchy79@lemmy.world 3 points 17 hours ago* (last edited 17 hours ago)

killinggnillik

Who is gnillik? What is happening here? I get that it's a palindrome but why?

[–] bedwyr@piefed.ca -1 points 20 hours ago (2 children)

Just because someone else will take their place doesn't mean it's useless, that logic would make killing any leader worthless, which is not the case at all.

The royal families of both the Saudis and the UAE are legitimate, and valuable targets for the Iranians to hit. If they don't, then it will just encourage future harm against their country.

[–] Glemek@lemmy.world 4 points 18 hours ago (1 children)

It really worked so well for the US killing the leader of Iran. Basically won them the war in one stroke. /s

We have an obvious and pertinent example of a decapitation strike on political leadership not being a particularly good strategy from a military standpoint. Iran seems to be conducting itself much in a much less emotionally reactive way than this, so I doubt we'll see it unless they really are falling apart internally and are just trying to lash out in revenge on their way down.

[–] bedwyr@piefed.ca -2 points 15 hours ago

You are equating the evil empire assassinating a leader with a underdog assassinating the evil empire leaders?

GTFO.

[–] rumimevlevi@sh.itjust.works 1 points 19 hours ago (2 children)

You may end up with even worse more extreme leaders. I just don't see the advantages of assassination . Better focus on ruining those countries foreign and imperialist interests

[–] anarchy79@lemmy.world 1 points 17 hours ago

You could also end up with less extreme leaders. When you already have extremist fascist genocidal psychopaths running the show, you're saying that maybe there will be another extremist fascist genocidal psychopath taking their place.

Ok? I'll take that chance then because if it doesn't change anything then let's keep killing them as they pop up until we get one that isn't an extremist fascist genocidal psychopath anymore.

You don't have to stop after the first one.

[–] bedwyr@piefed.ca -4 points 19 hours ago* (last edited 19 hours ago) (1 children)

So Hitler shouldn't have been killed? Stalin? Mussolini? What about a little tin pot dictator sitting on oil wealth abusing their citizens and neighbors with the help of the biggest bully in the world that they stroke off?

In truth, there is only one thing bullies understand, and losing an amount of money isn't it in this case.

I really find your argument incredible.

I feel like you don't know much about the dirty deeds these guys have been up to since mohhammed bin tuna here took power. They've assassinated a lot of people by the way, using american mercenary firms.

[–] rumimevlevi@sh.itjust.works 2 points 19 hours ago (1 children)

One man regime vs family regime are different

Even then, look at how fucked up Iraq is and how hundreds of thousands and possibly over a million civilians died in the process.

[–] slaacaa@lemmy.world 14 points 18 hours ago

Art of the Deal^TM^

[–] FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world 24 points 21 hours ago

Well, that just can't be.

I just saw an ai-generated ad from the Department of War that said the US Military is invincible or something.

[–] TankovayaDiviziya@lemmy.world 29 points 23 hours ago (2 children)

Look like Trump is in dire straits.

[–] fartographer@lemmy.world 5 points 13 hours ago

He's definitely earning money for nothing

[–] bedwyr@piefed.ca -2 points 20 hours ago* (last edited 20 hours ago)

I have heard people opining that he is not strait given his associations in the past with Roy Cohn, the lawyer point man of the McCarthy witch hunts and other things.

The truth finally comes out, he's not so strait after all. I'm glad he's out of the closet, the strait closet, he came out of his nazi closet a long time ago.

[–] DarkFuture@lemmy.world 3 points 15 hours ago
[–] melsaskca@lemmy.ca 14 points 21 hours ago (2 children)

All of this to cover up his pervert degeneracy. What a huge colossal waste and a big black eye for humanity.

[–] DarkFuture@lemmy.world 2 points 15 hours ago

Americans are going to be viewed as drooling shortbus dipshits for an entire generation, at least.

We're going to be one of those generations the history books look back on with scorn and mockery.

[–] rumimevlevi@sh.itjust.works 7 points 21 hours ago (1 children)

This one is on Saudi arabia

But it's the same picture.

More like “bad news for most of the world”

[–] rumimevlevi@sh.itjust.works 9 points 21 hours ago

Most of the world who exerced zero pressure on the USA and blamed Iran for the war

[–] Washedupcynic@lemmy.ca 2 points 14 hours ago

I ride a bicycle everywhere and occasionally take public transport. Other than higher prices for goods and maybe higher per kilowatt hour for energy usage, this will not hit me as hard as others. I've lost 25 lbs in the past 3 months just from cutting back on treats and snacks because $. I've got about 40lbs of pure fat still banked to sustain me before the worst of it. I can't fathom how people paying for cars + gas are going to live with this, especially in areas without public transportation.

Interestingly I’ve seen some claims that it is possible Saudi Arabia failed to aid Tariq Saleh’s National Resistance Forces not from incompetence but rather due to not wanting to lift a finger for a proxy that had a lot of lingering UAE influence. The NRF was a lot more independent minded than the Saudi backed militias and did awkward things like cozying up to the UAE-backed STC (South Yemen separatists) after the STC basically rolled the recognized government of Yemen’s forces in much of former South Yemen… which would have been great for the NRF if things stayed that way but by like a month later the Saudis had booted out the UAE and dissolved the STC entirely.

Compare these unfortunately blurry maps from before and after the offensive, the NRF is the one in blue in the before picture.

Doesn’t seem like a great time for backstabbing and scheming but having a fragmented opposition has been a tremendous headache to the Saudis throughtout this war so I guess if it’s annoying enough… but Ansar Allah has like three quarters of Yemen’s population so they’re hefty (almost up there with the population of Saudi Arabia)

[–] anarchy79@lemmy.world 3 points 17 hours ago

Interesting takes, thanks.

[–] Kirp123@lemmy.world 10 points 1 day ago

Iran is 2 for 2

[–] Tolc@lemmy.world 1 points 18 hours ago* (last edited 18 hours ago) (1 children)

this is why trump is unironically better when it comes to destroying america and thus doing greater good for humanity

[–] anarchy79@lemmy.world 3 points 17 hours ago

True confident incompetent malice is a thing to behold.
