Welcome to the News community!

Rules:

1. Be civil

Attack the argument, not the person. No racism/sexism/bigotry. Good faith argumentation only. This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban. Do not respond to rule-breaking content; report it and move on.

2. All posts should contain a source (url) that is as reliable and unbiased as possible and must only contain one link.

Obvious biased sources will be removed at the mods’ discretion. Supporting links can be added in comments or posted separately but not to the post body. Sources may be checked for reliability using Wikipedia, MBFC, AdFontes, GroundNews, etc.

3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.

Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.

4. Post titles should be the same as the article used as source. Clickbait titles may be removed.

Posts which titles don’t match the source may be removed. If the site changed their headline, we may ask you to update the post title. Clickbait titles use hyperbolic language and do not accurately describe the article content. When necessary, post titles may be edited, clearly marked with [brackets], but may never be used to editorialize or comment on the content.

5. Only recent news is allowed.

Posts must be news from the most recent 30 days.

6. All posts must be news articles.

No opinion pieces, Listicles, editorials, videos, press releases, or celebrity gossip will be allowed. All posts will be judged on a case-by-case basis. Mods may use discretion to pre-approve videos or press releases from highly credible sources that provide unique, newsworthy content not available or possible in another format.

7. No duplicate posts.

If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.

8. Misinformation is prohibited.

Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.

9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.

All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.

10. Don't copy entire article in your post body

For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.

President Trump fell asleep at the 9/11 memorial ceremony.

The president dozed off at multiple points during the event Friday, slumped over in his chair with his eyes closed and his head hanging down while everyone else onstage—Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, Melania Trump, and former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice—was clearly awake.

I don’t care if he falls asleep. I just get disappointed that he wakes up.

Reminder that like 90% of his election campaign was telling everyone that sleepy people are unfit for office.

Conservatives love hypocrisy because it's a demonstration of the social hierarchy they're all obsessed with (it's not a problem when he does it because he is Donald Trump)

[–] Xanthobilly@lemmy.world 30 points 2 days ago

It wasn’t just him. Every media outlet hounded Biden about his age, and now they ignore Trump’s decline. It’s my best evidence of the media being captured and controlled by this authoritarian oligarchy.

Kinda satisfying knowing trump spends so much of his time doing things he hates doing.

[–] Tujio@lemmy.world 64 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Wow! This is the second shittiest thing he's done on 9/11!

[–] k0e3@lemmy.ca 7 points 3 days ago (1 children)

What was the other thing? Being alive on 9/11?

[–] CileTheSane@lemmy.ca 30 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Calling in to a radio station on the day of the attacks to brag that he now had the tallest building in NY.

[–] k0e3@lemmy.ca 6 points 2 days ago

Oooh I had heard of this, but didn't realize it was on 9/11. Not that it makes it ok, but I thought it was much later. He's such a shit human.

Make it like an Iron Maiden, just to be sure.....

[–] DarrinBrunner@lemmy.world 3 points 2 days ago

Right? They had the perfect opportunity. They could have him declared dead, and buried before he wakes up.

He instantly falls down another set of stairs and explodes. Like in cartoons.

They name the names like it's admirable the rest stayed awake, but I think they are all just bracing for the inevitable cropdusting. Dude likes to shit while he sleeps, going by the videos I've seen. Note how there is no one behind him, and his wife is seated far enough away to allow plenty of airflow between them.

Also note the unevenness in his face: the right side of his mouth (his right; to the left in the pic, last one in the article) is markedly different from the left, even when he appears to be facing the camera directly, and that entire side of his face is somewhat slumped compared to the other. Seems to be getting worse these days.

[–] dregan@lemmy.world 15 points 3 days ago (2 children)

[–] SpikedIguana@sh.itjust.works 7 points 3 days ago

I missed the word asleep at first :(

Stunning and brave 🫡

Honestly though it’s way less damaging to my calm since I’ve just started leaning into the absurdism of it all
