Not everyone can read images. Can someone provide a text version?

Hostile takeover.

Once again, we need a source more than what appears to be a word processor with a typed list. The OG link at the "dailyspill" on reddit provides no other source or claim.

At least it's not a screenshot of someone's Notes app

Link to the Reddit post? Link to an actual source?

I just can't believe someone leaked this to a subreddit...

https://www.reddit.com/r/TheDailySpill/comments/1w1n0pi/the_leaked_us_trade_demands_that_caused_canada_to/ Also this is not breaking news in Canada, although it was published in Canada in long form articles and on long form in depth reporting on Canadian news, it is, or a week ago it was breaking news in the US.

Then how is it "leaked"? And who was it leaked to?

Most of that reporting was based on public statements made by key politicians and negotiators. Some of it was expanded upon on background. "Leaked US trade demands" is a dishonest claim. As far as I know, there can be no list of demands because there were only verbal discussions. Those talks broke down as they were beginning to put them in writing. So this isn't a leaked list and it also isn't a list of things that were leaked. So what is it? Just a list from an unknown author, I guess.

Edit: Thanks for the link!

In Canada the politicians involved pussy footed around and didn't do more that the broad strokes, but apparently someone in the press got leaked a set of documents that they then had people in the know verify. They didn't release it all at once for a few days, and then released the story in long form. Then a bunch of people on reddit put the hot button issues in a 4 or 5 point format, and then other people picked up the story themselves. Short form content didn't talk about it though. Then a couple of weeks go buy and it starts going into the US Press, but they wanted to keep the God-King happy so they only talked about the hot button issues in general. I haven't come across it but they could have put it in a point form, but for all that means this could be AI making a summary.

Then 9 days ago this appears and it was breaking news to them so they said it was "Just Leaked". If that is just leaked that would be like coming home from a vacation and finding a wet bathroom floor from a leak.

MAGA: we don't need anything from Canada

Also MAGA: we demand this from Canada

USA: Be the 51st state or well make you the 51st state.

CAN: No.

The things demanded on Canada is some vassal state shit. No country should ever be subject to such one sided deals.

[–] wampus@lemmy.ca 12 points 1 day ago

Doesn't really look all that official, and the source is generally unknown.

That said, in terms of the trade war, I'm surprised Canada hasn't demanded that we include the service-deficit/trade in the calculations. The trade deficits the Americans like to quote, don't include things like, say, how much Canada spends on Microsoft, Netflix, Apple, etc.

The USA empire needs to be brought down by the world.

[–] CapuccinoCoretto@lemmy.world 9 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Because Americans can't be counted on to fix their shit.

[–] Sunshine@lemmy.ca 3 points 1 day ago

Dems don't care about Canada.

[–] OldCrow@lemmy.ca 3 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Mark Carney's speech at Devos! He's standing up to the USA.

[–] Sunshine@lemmy.ca 1 points 1 day ago

Gotta develop all weapon orders with Canadian, European and Asian partners and leave NORAD.

[–] Diplomjodler3@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago

They're doing that themselves already.

[–] OldCrow@lemmy.ca 5 points 1 day ago

I listened, again, to Mark Carney's Davos speech. Thank you, Mark, for standing up to the lunatic!
