I knew a couple of different people who would fabricate drama if they were actually doing well for once. In a good relationship with a supportive partner? Starts talking to their ex who just got out of prison. Job and housing in order? Spends rent money on a $1200 dog. Things quieted down? Starts fights. I donβt need that nonsense anywhere near my life.
Yeah, this gets applied to things like addiction or poverty, too. βAll you gotta do is change stop doing the thingβ¦β. Sure, politically or about other things itβs probably a choice of willful ignorance. But sometimes not so much.

How I see people who don't follow my exact prescribed advice that I came up with without knowing the situation
Legit. If someone in my life did this I'd believe them when they say they don't know why they don't move it away. Maybe they can't. Mental health issues can often look like a person standing in fire, not moving out of the fire, just letting it consume them as normal folk watch on talking about how they should have just walked into the water.

I don't remember if it was a comedian or who/where I heard this but someone once likened depression and outsiders talking about it to an asthmatic.

There's a word for this in mandarin - Dao Mei (forgive me if I got the spelling wrong). But from what I've been told, it doesn't quite mean "bad luck" which implies you had no control over it; but it means that bad things are happening to you because you put yourself into that position

I met Americans my age (early 30s) when i was at a Caribbean resort. They were from North Carolina. The topic of US politics and their president came up and they said that they voted Republican but they're not maga and are against the things Trumps doing.
We were all confused so we asked them to explain further. They said that voting Republican was just local/family/regional tradition and voting Democrat was unthinkable. They then followed that up with something like "at the end of the day, you still have to show up to work the next day, you still have bills to pay, nothing changes".
The killer was that about 15 or so minutes prior, they talked about how their local society collapsed as a result of a previous hurricane and how FEMA never showed up and then allegedly prevented them from helping out.
