Wow, this article is a great resource to show someone who thinks privacy is pointless because "I have nothing to hide."
It's hard to find good real-world examples of how people's data is being used in ways they would be against if only they knew about them.
I hope you're right but my guess the response will be "lulz that will not happen". "It's a conspiracy". "There would be a revolution if that happened". "They coulnd't find that out just by knowing which services I use, exactly at what times and how often, how I engage with it".
I think there will always be people stuck with their existing confirmation biases, but if the advice merely helps less people it's still better than nothing at all... some people are just beyond saving.

Not a good article, unfortunately. Vague weasel words for the first 5 paragraphs before they get to anything of substance when they say some platforms potentially have something like this. I gave up shortly after. I'm against the practice of course and I don't doubt employers would use this, but if the journalists find something they should really let us know.

Getting in the door is hard enough without dealing with getting lowballed.
I just want a job. I had many years of stability. Now I want a win win where I get to do a good job and get compensated at the same level.
Time to build a co-op. This exploitation has become so systematized, that it is essentially a runaway genocide.

There are moneyless co-op communities like Bruderhof, which are interesting. The tricky part with those is what happens if you want to exit.

We aren't doing this. Even if we were, most smart candidates are not going to accept a lowball and I don't want to offer one.
If i paid you the same or barely more than your current salary, you would not change jobs. If I were able to force a shit salary down someone's throat, they are going to keep looking because I forced a shit salary down their throats.
While I don't doubt this is happening, it will only be effective if people accept it. If a company lowballs you, don't take the fucking offer!
I need someone in my open roles. If I don't hire them, I have to do that work. If the company sees me doing the work, they will think that it is OK and it is cheaper to have me do all the work and close the open position. Therefore, I am willing to pay someone a reasonable offer above the original.
Always ask for more. When we need roles filled, most of are good to give. Its not my money, what do I care? I'm certainly not going to rescind the offer because someone asked. Only useless bootlickers who think they will be rewarded by saving the company $10k will hold firm. They will also have a staff full of people that hate them and do shit work. Ask for more.
I pray workers syndicalize, and guillotine every employer doing this.
