Term limits are very easy to get around. Look up how George Wallace and Vladimir Putin pulled it off. Basically you get some patsy/stand-in to run in your place. You run openly announcing that the stand-in will just be holding the pen. To keep them loyal, you select someone with no independent power or authority, low popularity, or no real interest in governing. Think someone like Jared Kushner. He's completely dependent on Trump financially and politically. They could run a President Kushner, openly admitting it's just going to be a third Trump term. Republicans could vote for Kushner reasonably confident that Kushner will remain loyal, as he has no independent existence from Trump.
From my point of view, the idea of Donald Trump or his family running in 2028 appears to be a uniquely unpopular idea with Americans across the political spectrum.
It's something that most people I know agree is a bad idea and unconstitutional regardless of political leaning. One thing is clear, when the voting population is most divided, Republicans win big. It's why communism, trans anything, and immigrant wedge issues (amongst others) get rolled out so often. It's a 'yuge political error to lean into this highly unpopular and unifying Trump 2028 messaging, particularly in these months leading into the midterm elections.
While it is concerning to see MAGA types flaunting Trump 2028 merchandise / apparel, I see them for what they are: Insufferable contrarians who get joy from intentionally provoking and upsetting others. Not serious people with serious opinions. Whether they honestly believe and support the idea of a 3rd term, they just like being anti-social, or both, their intent is a moot point. That kind of behavior is a huge turn off for middle of the road voters.
The key point here is "shall be elected". It says nothing about acquiring the office of President by other means. Like a coup.
That is the controlling part. This means it can only be this way not there are many possibilities.

Laws are just words on paper if the people in charge of enforcing them choose not to. We are the people in charge of enforcing the enforcers when things break down - it's what the second amendment is all about.
They know we won't do our job when all is said and done, so they no longer have a reason to bother doing theirs when they could instead be paid by the wealthy to look the other way.
And those term limits were finally voted into the constitution by conservatives because they were terrified that FDR had already been elected to his fourth term due to social policies being, surprise surprise, popular with the people, and they wanted to prevent those who would become a “dictator, king, or totalitarian leader”

Also, insurrectionist aren't allowed to hold office, but the Supreme Court said, "Meh, as long as the people are willing to vote for one, it's cool." The one about term limits is more obvious, so it's a more blatant potential violation, sure, but the current Court has already shown a willingness to ignore the Constitution if it benefits their guy.
The birthright citizenship case really made it obvious. Three judges straight up said “I will ignore the explicit text of the constitution if the right person wants me to” and they’ll do it again
Their reasoning could be used to allow Zohran Mamdani to become president - after all, immigrants aren't supposed to become presidents either.
Of course, the SCROTUS will be hypocritical about this...

Everyone keeps saying "the Nuremberg Trials show you can hold them accountable" but keep forgetting that the Nuremberg Trials were held by an international court after it took a World Fucking War to get the Nazis to stop their shit. Not that I'm saying that's an excuse to give up and let the Republicans run rampant but the Democrats aren't doing shit and the rest of the world isn't holding Trump accountable either.
Yes I'm sure many of us, myself included, understand this. Countries can and have held themselves accountable too albeit with less success. South Africa and then Canada have each done their own TRC. It's possible. You just can't let perfect be the enemy of good.

Given that the opposition to this very obvious conman's soft coup and systematic destruction of everything good in America consists of: Centrist Democrats still looking for compromise, left-wing media that is becoming increasingly Fox-ified, lots of justifiably angry people who fundamentally do not understand our antiquated system of government (and that it needs to change before what they want to happen can happen), about a dozen elected officials actually doing something, and no one who has bothered to write a counterplan to Project 2025, I'm not liking the odds. I fear that things will have to get much worse before political will and consciousness align enough to stop this downward spiral the USA has been riding since Reagan.
If the orange turd goes out for a third term, the sane people of the USA should run Obama against him. Fair is fair.

As much as I don't want third terms and also don't want Obama, this is the best action and I'll vote for Obama out of spite. Maybe he'd get another chance to fix healthcare, and make it work right instead of a half measure that just gifts more revenue to health insurance companies. I'd thoroughly enjoy the video of trump's meltdown when he loses to the "Muslim" black man he's been racistly demonizing, and I'd love to hear his phone call conceding the race.
Everything he and his cronies does is founded in the toddler scream "you can't tell me what to do!!" I really believe that a lot of the child abuse was less because they were irresistibly attracted to children, and more that they wanted to prove that no rules apply to them.

He’s not planning on leaving the office. Hopefully we’ll still have elections in 2028 but I think he’s going to need to be removed by force in January 2029.

Yes, I’m afraid so too, because on the one hand, this regime is so criminal that everyone involved would likely face prosecution immediately after a new administration takes office—even under the dysfunctional U.S. legal system. Despite all the tricks and the expected election fraud in the event of another presidential election, I consider it virtually impossible that the MAGA fascists would be re-elected—they’ve pulled the wool over the eyes of their own, fantastic voters far too obviously this time.
On the other hand, ICE is quite obviously a secret police force whose mission is presumably to secure a coup d’état. I simply cannot see any reason other than the creation of a loyal terrorist force—which ICE already is—for its astronomical budget; it equals the military spending of a medium-sized country and, by U.S. standards, is more than double that of all U.S. federal agencies combined—such as the FBI, CIA, etc. The explanation for this is, in my view, obvious: ICE is intended to serve as a counterweight in case of doubt, should the military be unwilling to stand idly by in the event of an anti-democratic coup.
In short: I think that even darker times lie ahead for U.S. citizens, for they are being ruled by organized crime. I do not believe it can be removed without violence.
At this point I think he can only be removed by force of nature. Death can only be cheated so long.

Unfortunately that doesn’t really mean much.
Sure he can’t be elected to a third term. He could be elected VP and ascend back to the office though. There’s no bar on that. That’s why they’ve already publicly been floating that.
He could be elected speaker of the house and be second in line for the presidency.
The only argument you could really make is the clause that
no person who has held the office of President, or acted as President, for more than two years of a term to which some other person was elected President shall be elected to the office of the President more than once.
Means he’d be ineligible to act as president even, because he has already been elected more than once.
He will run as a VP for a puppet, right the election then said puppet will step down. Perfectly “legal” since he was never elected.
He’s not allowed to run for VP either. Not that it matters, but they did account for that loophole.
He's never been held accountable for breaking the rules his entire life, and this will be no different.

Best case scenario is he attempts it, a few red states allow it then a couple state courts remove him from ballot and finally GOP scrambled to find a replacement at even less time than when Harris became the nominee. They would be decimated in the GE.
