Excellent revival of a classic meme. Love to see it! Seriously though the world’s top-class physicists have to look into this quantum phenomenon. Clearly we can’t go and check ourselves because we would perturb the system by observing it.

[–] Strider@lemmy.world 7 points 2 hours ago

The question is when it's out in the open that he died and the government is proven to have used a generated image to lie....

What will happen? Consequences? Doubt.

Schroedinger's turtle

[–] FreshParsnip@lemmy.ca 8 points 4 hours ago (1 children)

He's passed on! This senator is no more! He has ceased to be! He's expired and gone to meet his maker! He's a stiff! Bereft of life, he rests in peace! If they hadn't nailed him to the hospital bed he'd be pushing up the daisies! His metabolic processes are now history! He's off the twig! He's kicked the bucket, he's shuffled off his mortal coil, run down the curtain and joined the choir invisible!! HE IS AN EX-SENATOR!!

[–] SavinDWhales@lemmy.world 4 points 3 hours ago* (last edited 3 hours ago)

Well, we'd better replace it, then.

Sorry squire, I've had a look 'round the back of the shop, and uh, we're right out of Senators.

...

I got a ~~slug~~ turtle?

[–] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 20 points 7 hours ago (1 children)

Beshear should call their bluff, and announce the Democratic replacement. Let MAGA sue to stop him, and they'll be forced to provide proof of life.

If they can show proof he's alive, then fine, MAGA wins, and the case is over. But if they can't, then the case will also evaporate, and then they'll have to answer for hiding the death from the citizens, and people should go to jail.

[–] jumjummy@lemmy.world 13 points 6 hours ago (1 children)

It’s beyond frustrating that this hasn’t happened already. 1000% chance that the Republicans would do this as soon as a Democrat senator went under for surgery.

[–] ScoffingLizard@lemmy.dbzer0.com 11 points 5 hours ago

This is why we're cooked. Dems have no balls. They are apologists at best and they're in on it all.

[–] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 2 points 4 hours ago (1 children)

you see his wife has likely taken his corpse to be ressurected in asia.

[–] DonkeyStar@lemmy.world 5 points 3 hours ago

I assume that’s why she left. To recharge the jade egg that’s been animating him for the past three years.

[–] farmgineer@nord.pub 4 points 6 hours ago (2 children)

In theory, HIPAA is in play here so, without consent, no one can say anything to the public about the specific patient and their medical details.

[–] PlantDadManGuy@lemmy.world 2 points 1 hour ago (1 children)

HIPPA does not overrule the responsibility of a senator to represent his constituents. If he is unable to perform the duty, then he forfeits the seat.

[–] farmgineer@nord.pub 1 points 55 minutes ago

I was just giving a possible reason why there's silence. I do think that certain information on public figures and their ability to do their jobs should be public and handled accordingly.

[–] Phunter@lemmy.zip 2 points 3 hours ago

My dying wish is that my mortal status be forever in question.

[–] FreshParsnip@lemmy.ca 8 points 11 hours ago (1 children)

They're practicing to troll us by not letting us know when Trump dies

[–] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 6 points 6 hours ago

That will never work. Nobody will believe he's still alive if we haven't heard him say something stupid in a couple of weeks. He can't stay out of the spotlight. It wouldn't be long before his absence was too obvious.

[–] Hasherm0n@lemmy.world 27 points 15 hours ago

All I know is that if I stopped showing up to work for this long and there was this much doubt as to my state of being, my access and accounts would for sure be shut off and my paychecks would stop coming.

[–] TemplaerDude@sh.itjust.works 24 points 16 hours ago* (last edited 16 hours ago) (3 children)

This is exactly like the people saying “is Trump a pedo? I’m not sure?!” Yes you are. He’s a pedo. And Mcconell is dead.

Americans needs to stop playing into fascists little games. You’re looking at a puzzle missing one piece and you’re all pretending you can’t figure out what it’s depicting.

Anything to stretch it past August 4th. Literally anything. Guarantee they will announce his death or retirement on August 5th.

[–] Viking_Hippie@lemmy.dbzer0.com 60 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (6 children)

They sent out the following proof of life pic:

Even IF we assume that it's genuine, the left side of his face is severely drooping and his wife seems to have to hold him up on the same side. Both indicators of paralysis of the entire left side of his body, likely due to a massive stroke.

I'm no geologist, but in my strictly non-electrician estimation, it's extremely unlikely that a stroke that bad doesn't leave him too cognitively impaired to adequately do his job of evaluating and deciding matters of the utmost importance for 340 million people.

I'm not licensed to teach judo, though.

[–] EmpathicVagrant@lemmy.world 1 points 2 hours ago

Isn’t it a photoshop of a vacation pic from a couple years ago?

[–] SaveTheTuaHawk@lemmy.ca 8 points 15 hours ago* (last edited 15 hours ago)

but I'm an unregistered massage therapist.

[–] Doom@lemmy.world 39 points 1 day ago (5 children)

I'm calling BS on that picture. If he's in a long term hospital stay he is going to be in a gown, he's going to have a medical bracelet, an IV, possibly oxygen and he's going to look like hot shit because no one who has been in the hospital looks good even when they are on the road to recovery. The man isn't even wearing a pulseox. If you've ever gone through it with a loved one, you know exactly what I'm talking about. So either they shoved a sick old man in jeans in a button down for a photo op (doubt) or that photo is fake as fuck. I also find the tag being on the outside of that button down shirt suspicious as fuck in an AI is stupid kind of way.

[–] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 5 points 6 hours ago

One photo? They went to all that trouble to remove the IV, etc., get showered, shave, haircut, dress him up, and pose with the wife, and they only have ONE PHOTO?

Wouldn't they take a few, in different poses, showing him looking at her, posing with his doctor and nurses (as long as he's dressed and looking good), etc.? One dumb photo?

Let's see the outtakes.

I mean, it's a proof of life photo for a Senator. It's entirely possible they dressed him up for it. These people are nothing but appearances.

[–] cynar@lemmy.world 13 points 22 hours ago (3 children)

The tag is normal. I have shirts with the tag like that.

I personally suspect they photo oped a (barely) living corpse. Likely with a good dose of drugs to have him cognitive enough to sit up for a few minutes before wearing off.

If it's AI, then it's a minor (but critical) modification to an existing picture. Not one created fully. It's a lot easier to cover its mistakes when it's limited in scope.

[–] HCSOThrowaway@lemmy.world 5 points 16 hours ago

Yeah, AI generating from scratch is far more error-prone than AI doing a few tweaks.

Not to mention Photoshop (other image alteration software is available), not to mention pre-Photoshop image doctoring (see the USSR flying their flag over the Reichstag or photos of Stalin pictured with purged comrades).

[–] FrChazzz@lemmus.org 2 points 14 hours ago (1 children)

I don't know, the angles on the wall behind him seem super off to me

[–] cynar@lemmy.world 1 points 14 hours ago

That looks like angle and/lens distortion to me. The camera looks a little fishy eyed, so the lines can bend slightly towards the edges.

[–] jballs@sh.itjust.works 3 points 18 hours ago (1 children)

Yeah exactly. Look how he's holding the newspaper. He's not holding it up like "aha here's my proof of life!" It's more like "someone sat me up and told me to hold this but I don't know why."

My grandma had dementia so we might be able to get a picture of her looking at a camera, but we wouldn't have been able to get her to do something specific for a photo, like hold up a newspaper. Same thing going on here.

[–] cynar@lemmy.world 3 points 16 hours ago

It's the eyes to me. Defocused and drifting. Combined with the drooping face, just screams stroke. If that's the best photo they could get, his brain is likely a barely functional soup. Particularly given the drugs they likely have available to turbo charge what's left.

[–] Viking_Hippie@lemmy.dbzer0.com 23 points 1 day ago (3 children)

they shoved a sick old man in jeans in a button down for a photo op (doubt)

Not that I don't agree with your general point and conclusion (I do), but the Republican propaganda ghouls would ABSOLUTELY do that.

I'm also not a geologist but I think he's ready to be put in the ground

[–] lightnsfw@reddthat.com 5 points 20 hours ago

Should have been decades ago.

[–] Wildmimic@anarchist.nexus 10 points 23 hours ago (1 children)

When the picture was released, the added information mentioned a "light" pneumonia. That is the shit you get if you can't swallow correctly anymore, and is one of the main killers of people who suffer strokes. If he was lying around for a few hours before he found him, his brain scans will probably show severe brain damage on his right side brain. He might recover enough faculties to not die for the next years, but i see no way for him to come back and work.

[–] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 2 points 6 hours ago

Diminished use of your brain is not a barrier to leadership in MAGA. It can actually be a benefit.

Schrödinger’s republican?

[–] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 2 points 3 hours ago
[–] db2@lemmy.world 83 points 1 day ago (2 children)

He's dead. They're testing how willing the public is to believe their AI is a person.

[–] postmateDumbass@lemmy.world 1 points 3 hours ago

The explaination will come after they buy more tokens.

[–] ImgurRefugee114@reddthat.com 34 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Well I wasn't all that convinced he was a person before, so...

[–] NocturnalMorning@lemmy.world 2 points 17 hours ago

He's a turtle, I dunno what all the fuss is about. Turtles die sometimes.

[–] ExtremeDullard@piefed.social 43 points 1 day ago

He's a Republican. He's been dead inside his whole life.

[–] WoodScientist@lemmy.world 31 points 1 day ago (6 children)

Because the Democratic governor of Kentucky is a chicken shit coward.
