Having sudden infusions of small quantities accidental veggies 😳

[–] prole@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 points 2 days ago

I feel like most of them haven't either, they just jump on the meme train

[–] BeMoreCareful@lemmy.world 1 points 2 days ago

I've eaten too much taco bell to listen to some people's foolishness.

It's fast food, so I mean, not the healthiest option, probably best of the worst IMO.

But I think it's just a way to be polite racist, to determine if the conversation will continue.

Real racist dislike race traders the most.

[–] PolarKraken@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 3 days ago

Not once for me either. Jokes have failed to land since the gatdamn 90s.

I've had maybe a dozen Taco Bells in my life, and had no digestive issues. What is wrong with people?

What is wrong with people?

The states are dealing with a cyclospora parasite outbreak.

Taco bell is actually being responsible pulling items prematurely, because there is still no information where it originated or how it's spreading.

Edit- worth mentioning the CDC used to proactively track this parasite, but toddler in chief dropped that program last year.

[–] DarkCloud@lemmy.world 15 points 4 days ago

In addition to cyclospora, surveillance of campylobacter, listeria, shigella, vibrio and Yersinia was cut. FoodNet now only regularly monitors two diseases: Salmonella and Shiga toxin-producing E. coli.

A list of CDC talking points seen by NBC News last summer clearly blamed funding for the program’s drastic cutback.

“Funding has not kept pace with the resources required to maintain the continuation of FoodNet surveillance for all eight pathogens,” the talking point read.

Fiber. The average American eats 500g of protein a day and maybe accidentally 1 gram of fiber.

Then they go to Taco Bell where every menu item has beans (a staple source of fiber) -> poopacolypse

[–] justaman123@lemmy.world 18 points 4 days ago

I figured this out a while back after always wondering what people were talking about and it makes so much sense. Dudes living on Doritos and code red talking bout the Taco Bell shits like bruh eat a salad

[–] Telodzrum@lemmy.world 7 points 4 days ago (5 children)

No one is getting 500g of protein a day except for people using supplements and even then that is a fucking ton.

You’re right about the fiber though; it’s honestly pathetic.

Not a scientist but this sounds so right. As a regular consumer of fiber, I find taco bell to be one of the more digestible fast food chains. Fiber actually holds water into your stools after going through the stomach, but if your body isn't used to getting any then you are probably gonna be in for some kind of event.

[–] cm0002@libretechni.ca 12 points 4 days ago (2 children)

I've had TB hundreds and hundreds of times, it's one of the only fast food I could eat every day for the rest of my life and never get sick of it

We just have superior digestive bloodlines!

[–] arrow74@lemmy.zip 23 points 4 days ago (1 children)

I read TB as tuberculosis at first and was very concerned

[–] Zachariah@lemmy.world 4 points 4 days ago

easy to mistake terabyte for tuberculosis

Demolition man ass comment.

But also I concur.

[–] hanrahan@slrpnk.net 1 points 2 days ago

this is a meme about the explosive diarrhea outbreak in the US. aka MAHA led US winning.

Americans asserting taco bell diarrhoea has been theorized as for many, their diet is so bad, when they eat beans, rice etc i.e some fibre instead of endless meat, they take a normal shit and because it doesn't need a poop knife, they assume diarrhoea

and here we are

[–] yggstyle@lemmy.world 4 points 4 days ago

Lack of fiber. Taco bell has been priced out of authentic sawdust and has oped to use a synthetic knock off. They just dont make it like they used to. No commitment to natural ingredients. Hate to see it.

I don't eat at taco bell side there's a local place with 1000x better quality, but I have never once experienced intestinal distress after eating taco bell.

It's just a meme, right? Surely if they actually caused bowel issues, people wouldn't keep eating there...

[–] blattrules@lemmy.world 12 points 4 days ago (1 children)

It’s just people repeating the same hack joke that was rooted in racism 40 years ago because they can’t think of anything funny themselves. I’ve never had a problem eating there.

[–] halcyoncmdr@piefed.social 5 points 4 days ago (1 children)

I don't think racism is the main issue.

I think it's largely more that most Americans don't eat nearly enough fiber in their daily lives. But nearly every item at Taco Bell has quite a bit of fiber in conparison. This throws their digestive system way out of balance.

[–] blattrules@lemmy.world 5 points 4 days ago

It’s not overtly racist, but the original “x food gives you diarrhea” joke is rooted in racism and it’s proliferated for all these decades because people like hack, cliche jokes for some reason. I seriously doubt that it gives anyone diarrhea from it unless there is something wrong with the produce like we’re seeing now.

[–] Psythik@lemmy.world 5 points 4 days ago

Yeah I don't get it either. I've never had digestive issues from Taco Bell. I imagine the only people who do are those who think their hot sauces are spicy. Either that, or you're right; it's just a meme.

[–] Drusas@fedia.io 5 points 4 days ago

The real reason is more likely that people who have this problem don't get enough fiber, so when they eat something with beans at Taco Bell, they get the shits.

I've never understood the "Taco Bell gives you the shits" thing. I'm no big fan of Taco Bell and I would never claim they make great food, but I've eaten there plenty in my life and I don't think I've ever gotten the shits from their food. Honestly I don't think I've ever even gotten the farts from Taco Bell. Is this really some common human experience I've missed out on?

EDIT I just read the other comments, apparently I'm not alone

[–] zalgotext@sh.itjust.works 8 points 3 days ago (1 children)

It's literally because Taco Bell is one of the few fast food places that has a decent amount of fiber in most of their items, and most people's diets are sorely lacking in fiber. So the sudden influx gives them the shits, and they blame it on the Taco Bell, instead of their poor diet.

Eat your vegetables, eat more beans, and your Taco Bell shits will be no more.

The only fast food that had ever made me sick was White Castle. That shit is disgusting

[–] lightnsfw@reddthat.com 3 points 3 days ago

Same and it's happened a few times.

[–] Entertainmeonly@lemmy.blahaj.zone 12 points 4 days ago (9 children)

Just ate taco bell today. Thats the fourth time this week I've eaten at taco bell. I have great solid shits. I'm so confused by the hate taco bell constantly gets.

If you cant normally handle taco bell, you probably should see a doctor, or you're of a weak bloodline.

[–] tpotatomasher99@lemmy.zip 5 points 4 days ago

True story, was constipated years ago and gf took me to Taco Bell FOR the diarrhea. Cleaned me out beautifully.

[–] DEJED@feddit.org 3 points 4 days ago

I have never NOT had diarrhea after Taco Bell. This is the way

[–] InvalidName2@lemmy.zip 4 points 4 days ago

Fast food places and their dollar menus (it was a real thing like dinosaurs) got me through some very difficult times when balancing time and money was the difference between eating anything at all (even if it was junk) or going without entirely.

Taco Bell was one of my preferred places in those days because for reasons and such.

But times change and honestly every time I've given Taco Bell a second second chance again for the second or third time in the past 5 ish years or so, I've regretted it. Not because the food made me sick or gave me any unusual bowel symptoms, but because the food is now objectively gross and also way more expensive and the service has gone to shit.

[–] makeshift0546@lemmy.today 4 points 4 days ago

Taco Bell is fantastic. Stop you're bitching.
