Yeah, our lab is excited every-time one explodes. When we do backyard fireworks, the main concern is holding her back so she doesn't shove her face in them.
*The number of firework events that irritates dogs, is too damn high
There, fixed it for you.
My dog loves fireworks for some dumb reason.
To the point where I think if he could he’d run to find where they are coming from and try to bite them.
Yeah my corgi that is fucking afraid of everything, like jackets, cats, plastic sacks and so on, adores fire works. I have no idea what's wrong with the fucking animal.
corgi's are just derpy lil guys.
my hound couldn't give two fucks about the blammo-booomo bullshit. my staffy will try to merge with the basement floor at the molecular level.
My old dog was a puppy when the local baseball team won the world series. We took him outside after the game, and our neighbor behind us started lighting off some pretty big fireworks.
The first one or two startled him a little, but he saw that we weren't reacting and quick settled down. Then he started to enjoy them. He'd watch the neighbors light one up, watch it shoot into the sky and explode, and then back to the neighbor, tail wagging waiting for another one.
After that, any time he heard them going off somewhere he'd run around to the windows trying to get a better look. If he could find a good angle he'd happily stand there and watch the entire show.
My current dog just doesn't react to them at all. We got her at about a year old, so I don't know what, if anything, her previous humans did to desensitize her, but at most she just kind of groans and rolls over if they're close enough to disturb her nap. I actually use them as a good excuse to take her for a walk because she is kind of dog-reactive and I know no one else is going to be out walking their dogs during the fireworks.
Dogs are the best. Who fucking knows what they are thinking. A friend of mine has a dog who isn't really food driven, but do you know what he fucking loves? Raw baby spinach leaves. Ohhh boy, if you open a bag of spinach in front of that dog, you best be giving some to him. Funny little creatures they are. All of them with their own quirks. But all of them the best.
We discovered how much my last tux cat loved watermelon when we cut one in half, got distracted by I don't know it's not important, came back in half an hour and she was standing in the watermelon devouring it. She had eaten half while my back was turned. I'm not even sure I can eat that much watermelon that fast, it was a big melon and she went down to the green. I stop at the white. We made sure to buy her a new melon every week while they were in season, but we kept her to much more reasonable portions.
I had a cat who went gremlin mode over spinach, silly little fucker
My dogs don't even react to fireworks. 🤷♂️
Same. But if i put on the headlamp i use when cutting claws, i might aswell have tried to kill her family in front of her.
And God forbid I gently blow on my dogs face. This is akin to waterboarding for him. But he will happily stick his head out of a car window at full speed.
I don't always understand why dogs are the way they are, but I sure am happy that they are.
Yeah, the kitty who is on Prozac, didn't care about fireworks at all. The kitty who has normal kidney function has needed so many cuddles today.
if a dog isn't bothered by it what's the problem?
I'd rather fireworks be opt-in by way of traveling to a fireworks show than being forced to endure most of my neighbors setting off explosives for no good fucking reason
Let's just be real, 90% of dog owners are awful. This is entirely par for the course.
Idk how people can do this. Like, I was invited to a 4th of July party and I wasn't going to go if I couldn't find someone to sit with my dogs. I ended up paying my mom to watch them for me. My beagle is terrified of fireworks and he has reactions to emergency anxiety meds, so just sitting with him and keeping him company and hugging him is very important. Apparently he had a great time lol. My doodle doesn't give a shit about fireworks. She's just down to do whatever the beagle is doing lol.
