  • 72,996 Palestinians killed by Israel (7 Oct 2023–14 Jun 2026, (UNRWA)
  • 46,590 Ukrainian civilians killed by Russia (24 Feb 2022–31 May 2026 (OHCHR)

According to ACLED, from 7 Oct 2023 - December 5, 2025, Israel attacked these countries (There have been many more attacks since then): (LINK)

  • Gaza and the occupied West Bank 8,332 times
  • Lebanon 1,653 times
  • Iran 379 times
  • Syria 207 times
  • Yemen 48 times
  • Qatar once
  • Tunisian waters twice, Maltese and Greek waters once each

Countries attacked by Russia since 24 Feb 2022 - Ukraine

Sanctions on Russia: 20 Sanction Packages

Sanctions on Israel by EU and HERE (harder to find any) 3 Sanction Packages

Israel war crimes in the war on Gaza. They've cut electricity, fuel, food and water to Gaza’s population and severely curtailed life-saving humanitarian aid, all of which are acts of collective punishment. The ICC has issued arrest warrants naming Israeli leaders and alleging war crimes and crimes against humanity (including starvation as a method of warfare). They have also been accused multiple times of attempting genocide. Israel is accused of the gravest war crimes - how governments respond could haunt them for years to come

~~I can't find any accusations of Russia using white phospherous~~ - EDIT (thanks @Gust@piefed.social)

The two wars are different in that The war in Ukraine is a state-to-state conflict, while the one in Gaza shows an asymmetric war in the besieged enclave

FACTBOX - Ukraine and Gaza wars compared

The Israeli wars are just dirtier than anything most have seen or heard of. In the UK you are more likely to be awarded something for protesting against the Russian invasion of Ukraine than anything else. But protesting against the more violent, more aggressive and more illegal wars commited by Israel will likely get you arrested and possibly treated as a terrorist.

Let that sink in.

In the UK if you protest against a genocide in another country, the government have ordered the Police to arrest you.

Petition: End the prosecution of peaceful protestors in the UK)

Largely agree with what you wrote, but let's not whitewash russia to make isreal look bad in comparison. They have absolutely used/been using white phos munitions on Ukrainian civilians

[–] Babalugats@feddit.uk 11 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Edited. Thanks. Wasn't whitewashing Russia at all. I used Qwant, DDG, Google, and even asked a couple of AI bots, but couldn't find anything about Russia using it. But I never said that they didn't, because I am well aware that they commit war crimes too.

[–] Gust@piefed.social 10 points 5 days ago (2 children)

Huh. Thats concerning if those kind of general searches about russian warcrimes are being suppressed. For reference, I remembered the bakhmut thing offhand so my search query for the article I linked was something super specific like "2023 bakhmut phosphorous"

[–] Babalugats@feddit.uk 6 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago) (2 children)

Yeah, I'll have a look through my history and see how I phrased it, but it was something like "accusations of Russia using white phospherous or illegal weapons and war crimes" in a few different ways.

ai was useless (no surprises) but thought I would see if it spat out anything different anyway. They just asked me for reference links to feed them with. Which I obviously didn't have.

Good comparison and data, but I'd like to point out that the leading stats are actually 16k civilians killed in Ukraine (and 46k injured), as per the source. While in Gaza there are 72k direct deaths and 172k injured (mostly civilians and 50% women and children)

It's disgusting how Western governments still approach one country with all possible sanctions, and the other is just business as usual (and finger wagging if we're "lucky").

[–] Babalugats@feddit.uk 9 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago)

There are so many sources citing different figures, I just picked the one that is mostly used by media. Also, it is believed that the figures in Gaza are much higher than the figures that the data shows. But without proof, I didn't/couldn't link it.

I hate Israel. Of all the nations I'd have thought them the most compassionate after what happened at Hitlers command. How can you do this to people. And who produced the goods/delivery system cos you're equally to blame. Sincerely hope you are judged for this

[–] Solrac@lemmy.world 7 points 4 days ago

Look up the Havara Agreement. Look up what they did in Palestine right after Palestine accepted them.

[–] Gates9@sh.itjust.works 9 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago) (1 children)

Don’t a lot of abused children become abusers themselves? I’m not justifying it, but it seems to that it’s the result of inter generational trauma. Not just centuries of oppression and pogroms, not just the Nazi holocaust, but a lot of Israelis came directly from places in the former Soviet Union and Eastern Europe that were brutally oppressive.

[–] VindictiveJudge@lemmy.world 9 points 5 days ago

Babylon 5 still being relevant, unfortunately:

Sinclair: "In order to be free, you had to learn to fight; no one questions that. But you've over-compensated. You're like abused children who have grown big enough to do the same thing to someone else... as if that will somehow balance the scales, it won't. If you let your anger cloud your judgement, it will destroy you."

Yes they permanently scar important agricultural land that may be necessary to the future of humanity for basically no reason, but asking them nicely to stop would be antisemitic.

[–] theacharnian@lemmy.ca 26 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago) (1 children)

For Zionism being all about the "land of Israel", and wanting to build "greater Israel", why do they hate and abuse the land so much? I mean ok, they hate the people, I get that, they are fascist colonizers. But why the land? They do the same to the West Bank when they destroy centuries old olive groves, and that's in their supposed "Judaea and Samaria" that they are supposed to love so much that they want to ethnically cleanse.

Simple. Money. Just look at New Gaza Project

Oh, i am and some others too, but it would take someone with an army to fucking bomb Israel back to the stone age to stop those madmen. I never thought i would say that, but if Israel vanished in a giant nuclear fireball, it would be a net positive for the world at this point.

[–] ryper@lemmy.ca 35 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Israel disappearing would probably be a big step towards peace in the Middle East, given their tendency to start shit with their neighbors.

I used to think "dude, why does everyone on the middle east seem to hate Israel"

Then I got a minor in history

Then I tried using it. It's embarrassing how many years there were between the two. Please don't ask

I told every politician that represents my address taking AIPAC money is a nonstarter for my vote a long time ago. They didn't give a fuck. Being angry enough has nothing to do with it, they won't / don't care until supporting isn't real starts losing them money. And this blue no matter who shit some people love to throw around explicitly helps further genocide. Never vote AIPAC, no matter who.

Oh... so they're war criming against Lebanon exactly like they have their other enemies?

Can't really say I'm surprised

[–] TankovayaDiviziya@lemmy.world 29 points 5 days ago (1 children)

I see on social media and Reddit of Israel-apologists and obvious Hasbara accounts saying the white phosphorus are for smoke covers. Like, sure, the smoke from burning bodies of victims of white phosphorus provide smoke covers.

[–] ironycanal@lemmy.dbzer0.com 11 points 5 days ago

Are you suggesting that Real Jews should die for lack of smoke cover from the bodies of untermench children? Do you think dead burned untermemench are worth more than a life from the master race? Antisemite!

[–] Zier@fedia.io 49 points 6 days ago (6 children)

Why are we bombing Iran when we should be bombing Israel instead?

[–] Mulligrubs@lemmy.world 25 points 6 days ago

Because we made Israel for a reason, and it's delivering.

[–] mrdown@lemmy.dbzer0.com 18 points 6 days ago

Because both the usa and israel are terrorist states

[–] bold_atlas@lemmy.world 6 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago)

Because they have nukes.

But honestly America could tank a few Israeli nukes. We need to just rip the bandaid off.

Israel uses American-made 155-millimeter M825A1 artillery projectiles and denies deploying the substance in violation of the laws of war.

All the photo and video evidence shows they did but they're in full "nuh uhuuuhh!"

Fuck Israel

Again. Again again.

They keep doing this.

[–] Maeve@kbin.earth 20 points 6 days ago

This is SOP, they do it in Palestine and Syria.

[–] panthera_@lemmy.today 15 points 6 days ago (3 children)

The UN should investigate to determine if this is true.

[–] Mihies@programming.dev 27 points 6 days ago (27 children)

Israel has been using it for a long time and nobody does nothing.

Its been reported 1000s of times for decades. Israel doesn't deny it's use either, they just lie about the purpose of it's use.

Majority of countries have signed onto international agreements to not use it during war because of how detrimental it is.

Israel uses it on civilian populations but lies about its battle use to get away with harming civilians and the growing fields that they depend on.

Edit: And to beat you to the hollow response, its been reported by the UN and the Human Rights Watch (UN Partners)

It's true, there were videos of it a few months ago. They've been using it for a long time
