3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.

4. Post titles should be the same as the article used as source. Clickbait titles may be removed.
Posts which titles don’t match the source may be removed. If the site changed their headline, we may ask you to update the post title. Clickbait titles use hyperbolic language and do not accurately describe the article content. When necessary, post titles may be edited, clearly marked with [brackets], but may never be used to editorialize or comment on the content.
5. Only recent news is allowed.
Posts must be news from the most recent 30 days.
6. All posts must be news articles.
No opinion pieces, Listicles, editorials, videos, blogs, press releases, or celebrity gossip will be allowed. All posts will be judged on a case-by-case basis. Mods may use discretion to pre-approve videos or press releases from highly credible sources that provide unique, newsworthy content not available or possible in another format.
7. No duplicate posts.
If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.
8. Misinformation is prohibited.
Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.
9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.
All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.
10. Don't copy entire article in your post body
For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.
Release the voting information. Name and shame the people who voted against it.
There can be reasons it didn't pass besides the name.
Okay, I did some quick research. This looks like a clean bill. Republicans don't want to pass it because it might increase abortion rates.
It does only move the legal age from 17 to 18, and at 17 it does require judicial review. However getting married under 18 is a problem because you have limited rights before you're 18. It's difficult to get out of an abusive marriage, for instance, before you're 18.

In CA, you can get married at any age, as long as a judge agrees to the marriage... but it is illegal to get divorced before 18. How fucked is that?!

I don’t mean to make a joke about this but was there no public opposition because they are legally not allowed to vote, and thus aren’t part of the legislation.
At least it's not whatever state(s) allow 12 year olds to marry. Or whatever other horrible shit I read about some old piece of shit advocating last year. Ffs, just let the southern states go. That doesn't geographically include Ohio, but we can make an exception. A lot of midwest states who aren't in the south can go too.

California allows marriage at ANY age. There is no minimum, as long as a judge agrees to let the marriage happen. So it isn't just Southern states.

I've lived in CA likely longer than you have been alive. I also seem to have much better reading comprehension. Legal marrying age has been a big issue for a long time now, with the ACLU fighting to KEEP the laws intact. You might love CA and think it can do no wrong, but wait till you find out that not only can kids under 18 get married as long as a judge agrees, but those same kids cannot legally get divorced. How fucked up is that?
You should take a breath, learn that all places have weird, fucked up laws, and take this as a lesson that you aren't as smart as you think you are.
