"CT scanners are woke" - Trump supporters, probably

[–] DrSoap@lemmy.world 97 points 2 months ago (3 children)

Does this count as drop shipping?

[–] schnokobaer@feddit.org 43 points 2 months ago (1 children)

I mean, is it even shipping?

[–] hoshikarakitaridia@lemmy.world 22 points 2 months ago

Drop skipping

[–] D_C@sh.itjust.works 7 points 2 months ago

Did someone say pants shitting?
I do the best shitting of pants, tremendous. Big men come up to me with tears in their eyes -from the stench- and they say "sir," they all call me sir, they say, "sir, that's the best pants shitting I've ever smelt. The sound is like a volcano erupting. Please, do it again".
Some people say that they've never seen pants being shit on so vigorously. Yet it's something I do multiple times a day!!

[–] boonhet@sopuli.xyz 5 points 2 months ago

White labeling. It could ALSO be dropshipped but no idea about that.

[–] EmpatheticTeddyBear@lemmy.world 48 points 2 months ago (3 children)

So far, the ONLY benefit I've seen about this phone is that of you go into the developer options, you can immediate jail break it.

[–] ButteryMonkey@piefed.social 67 points 2 months ago (2 children)

Obtaining root isn't jailbreaking, it’s just taking full control of your linux-based system :)

Jailbreaking is so called because you have to escape the walled garden (jail) of apple products, which is a challenge because they wrote their own code. Not a problem you really have with android to begin with. You don’t even need root for most of what you want to do with android.

[–] amzd@lemmy.world 58 points 2 months ago (6 children)

I want to install an app in September

Well, you won't need root for that

Jailbreaking does not only refer to apple products. It just means overcoming software limitations set by the manufacturer. Rooting an android phone is also jailbreaking

[–] GamingChairModel@lemmy.world 19 points 2 months ago (2 children)

It just means overcoming software limitations set by the manufacturer.

With you so far.

Rooting an android phone is also jailbreaking

Not if the method to do so consists entirely of steps that the manufacturer allows and documents.

Depending on the manufacturer and model, unlockable bootloaders mean that custom software can be installed without a jail to break out of.

To be fair, it kinda originated in the Apple world

they moved the position of the light LED nearby the camera. That's a surprising amount of effort for something that even has the wrong number of stripes on the american flag

[–] ilinamorato@lemmy.world 41 points 2 months ago

It's worse than having the wrong number of stripes. There's the right number of stripes on there, because he's using his name as the bottom stripe.

He's basically saying that he's more important than Georgia.

[–] Apepollo11@lemmy.world 9 points 2 months ago (1 children)

I'm probably just going blind, but I can't see this moved LED light. The layout of the two images looks identical to me.

Kinda sucks because I am legitimately interested in a gold HTC phone.

[–] KoboldCoterie@pawb.social 40 points 2 months ago (2 children)

This creates an interesting question.

How much cheaper than the base price would it have to be for you to willingly carry around a Trump branded phone that's so immediately recognizable that everyone you meet will know what you're using?

[–] BarbecueCowboy@lemmy.dbzer0.com 25 points 2 months ago

I'd like to say I'd stick to my principles here, but cases cost $10. Worst case I'm in a red state, wouldn't be proud of it, but a bit of maga camo would make my life easier.

[–] DickFiasco@sh.itjust.works 7 points 2 months ago

You'd have to pay me to carry a Trump-branded phone. Like, pay me a lot. And it would have to be a recurring monthly fee.

[–] Dettweiler42@lemmy.dbzer0.com 13 points 2 months ago (7 children)

What if you bought an HTC phone and printed a case with Gold TPU?

Trump supporters after getting scammed by the Nth time: "I still back Trump!"

[–] Thebeardedsinglemalt@lemmy.world 13 points 2 months ago (1 children)

After buying the cheap made in China hats...

After buying the cheap made in China flags...

After buying the shitty scam shoes...

After buying the gas-station quality knife...

After buying knockoff watch...

After buying preordering the phone...

After preordering the cOmMeMoRaTiVe gold and silver coins...

Them: "The next one will be legit!"

[–] OhStopYellingAtMe@lemmy.world 8 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Don’t forget the $trump meme coin.

And they’ll even admit it. They’ll admit to how bad things are and still do it. Conservatives are requisite morons and no, being “educated” has nothing to do with being or not being a moron.

[–] NorthWestWind@lemmy.world 20 points 2 months ago (1 children)

This technique is like an average bootleg phone you can buy from mainland China

That's kinda crazy. HTC stopped making phones then kinda sorta started again but not in the US

trump... scamming people??? WHO COULD HAVE SEEN THIS COMING?!

[–] d5273@lemmy.world 6 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Wait, wasn't HTC banned from US sales due to security concerns about Chinese devices?

[–] zikzak025@lemmy.world 38 points 2 months ago (2 children)

You're thinking of Huawei. HTC is a Taiwanese company that used to be a major player among Android OEMs, but their business dried up and they exited the global market. I didn't even know they were still making phones, to be honest.

[–] passenger@sopuli.xyz 10 points 2 months ago (1 children)
[–] d5273@lemmy.world 5 points 2 months ago

You are correct. I had a ZUK phone at the time, it kicked ass. Miss that little thing...

The image has no label, but I suppose the Trump phone is the left one, since the other is cooler

[–] Akasazh@lemmy.world 5 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Whats the price difference?

[–] monotremata@lemmy.ca 20 points 2 months ago (4 children)

And say what you will about the T1, but let’s give credit where it’s due. Trump Mobile aren’t gouging their fanbase…not yet anyway. Against all expectations, the T1 is actually well priced when compared to the equivalently specced 512GB U24 Pro, and the only things you give up are the 60W fast charging and your dignity.

That's from the iFixit article. I checked the website and they're currently listing it for $499, whereas Amazon has the U24 Pro 512gb (which I think is what they're saying is the equivalent?) for $699. So maybe it's actually cheaper? But I wouldn't buy either one at this point anyway. The U24 Pro released in July 2024 with the promise of two years of security updates, meaning it'll be out of support in a month. I can't imagine this "new" version will get any support at all.

[–] NikkiDimes@lemmy.world 7 points 2 months ago (5 children)

Im guessing it comes preloaded with spyware anyway. I mean, they all do, but...

OK but isn't HTC's reputation pretty good? Or maybe used to be...

So far I always heard the T1 would be some even cheaper no-brand from China.

OTOH, it could still be exactly that - a no-name rip-off of the HTC U24 Pro. The article actually supports that: the boards are the same but not identical. Like somebody used the same plans, not the same factory.

[–] cyberpunk007@lemmy.ca 8 points 2 months ago (3 children)

Does it matter? This phones like 2 years old lol

[–] A_norny_mousse@piefed.zip 9 points 2 months ago (2 children)

I know 8yo phones that still receive updates.

I wonder how the Trump phone will handle this. Not at all, I suspect.

[–] cyberpunk007@lemmy.ca 10 points 2 months ago (3 children)

Its not about that, its about this "new trump phone" being some old phone being sold as new

The article actually supports that: the boards are the same but not identical. Like somebody used the same plans, not the same factory.

The article literally says:

Digging deeper into the phone reveals more of the same. As in the same component shapes, the same component placement, the same screw placements, and even the same anti-tamper sticker placements. Do you know what else is likely to be the same? The factories that made these parts. The biggest clue? The mainboard itself.
