Lmao I am freshly banned from Reddit (including all of my alts which are not linked to my main account somehow) for suggesting they protect pedophiles (they do). I don't miss it, half of it is bots nowadays anyways.
News and Discussions about Reddit
Welcome to !reddit. This is a community for all news and discussions about Reddit.
The rules for posting and commenting, besides the rules defined here for lemmy.world, are as follows:
Rules
Rule 1- No brigading.
**You may not encourage brigading any communities or subreddits in any way. **
YSKs are about self-improvement on how to do things.
Rule 2- No illegal or NSFW or gore content.
**No illegal or NSFW or gore content. **
Rule 3- Do not seek mental, medical and professional help here.
Do not seek mental, medical and professional help here. Breaking this rule will not get you or your post removed, but it will put you at risk, and possibly in danger.
Rule 4- No self promotion or upvote-farming of any kind.
That's it.
Rule 5- No baiting or sealioning or promoting an agenda.
Posts and comments which, instead of being of an innocuous nature, are specifically intended (based on reports and in the opinion of our crack moderation team) to bait users into ideological wars on charged political topics will be removed and the authors warned - or banned - depending on severity.
Rule 6- Regarding META posts.
Provided it is about the community itself, you may post non-Reddit posts using the [META] tag on your post title.
Rule 7- You can't harass or disturb other members.
If you vocally harass or discriminate against any individual member, you will be removed.
Likewise, if you are a member, sympathiser or a resemblant of a movement that is known to largely hate, mock, discriminate against, and/or want to take lives of a group of people, and you were provably vocal about your hate, then you will be banned on sight.
Rule 8- All comments should try to stay relevant to their parent content.
Rule 9- Reposts from other platforms are not allowed.
Let everyone have their own content.
Rule 10- Majority of bots aren't allowed to participate here. This includes using AI responses and summaries.
Ehh I'm not missing much from reddit. But when I'm modding a console, all the helpful posts are on reddit.
Sucks when I hate the website and everything about it, but there is information on there you cannot find on lemmy.
Make a new post and copy and paste it so the next person finds it here
That's hilarious but I have a question. How would people who were banned from Reddit be participating on r/bannedfromreddit?
VPN and/or a fresh IP/Device.
I got a new device and I thought "hey this is fresh and clean I wonder if I could start a new Reddit account!" Then the first thing my device asked me to do was sign in to google. Literally can't do anything on that phone unless I divulge my Google login which certainly reveals my identity and last 30 years of internet activity 🤦🏼♀️ Cover blown. I need to get tech savvy and find a way around this.
Reddit's getting on the VPN ban thing, unless you've got your own IP it blocks popular VPN hosting IPs.
Thats a good question! But maybe their ban was only temporary.
Coming to the fediverse and using it to complain about reddit always feels like going on a date to complain about your ex to me
I understand that point of view but I sorta see it more as mourning what was once a good* site that I spent over a decade being a part of. Like using a similar analogy, it's like keeping up with that ex that you loved very much but broke off from after they got addicted to fentanyl and started pawning your things or something.
*good as in not a money and data hungry corporation, the userbase has always been a bit shit but it wasn't this kind of of aggressive shit
If no one talks about the shitty things reddit does outside of reddit, no one will have any way of knowing until it happens to them personally, because reddit itself is clearly censoring that stuff.
Me in 3030 AD getting crucified for discovering the lemmy haters!
I don't disagree, but by the same token, this is specifically !reddit@lemmy.world that you're in advocating not talking about Reddit.
That one guinea pig community probably wouldn't appreciate me telling them not to talk about guinea pigs.
Fair enough. I admittedly did not notice the community, I was browsing my all feed.
Don't talk shit about your exes, it's poor manners and makes you look bad, besides. Many think you should extend to your exes some courtesy, at least, and most of us get that.
Complaining about the actions of companies? I don't owe fealty to any company on Earth, fuck them and fuck Reddit
Coming to a community whose purpose is to talk about reddit and complaining doesn't seem any better...
There's a very simple solution to this: don't use Reddit.
Unfortunately, most of the interesting niche hobby discussions are going there these days.
The only times I've been back in at least two years are when posts here force me to go there for the content I'm looking for. Hate when that happens, but I take solace in the fact they're losing money on me due to using ad-blocking & a browser that forgets everything by default (Firefox Focus).
That bugs me, too. For images, at least, Lemmy can host just fine. It just takes an extra step to copy the image or link and add it to the post. Considering that Reddit blocks a lot of VPNs, hosting the image here means better visibility (for the many people here who use VPNs.)
Besides, who wants to give Reddit the extra views? I sure don't.
Are you suggesting they should ban Reddit before Reddit bans them?
That seems like the best option to me.
my rude i vore your username
Fuck you, spez.
Reddit moment
Just waiting for "Reddit bans r/reddit" for the circle to be complete.
My flair in one of the big subs on Reddit is degrading to mods. I got a mod who was on the way out to assign it. 🤞 the admins don't drop the banhammer.
Can it ghisllaine
Thats really funny.
Makes sense. :)
Weren't those just troll farms though, full of right wing losers upset they couldn't be openly racist enough?
I got several ridiculous bans from reddit.
One was for saying that Hans Kristian Graebner (the Neo-Nazi known as Stonetoss who was had his IRL name leaked online) deserves to get the Brock/Allen Turner treatment (having his RL name put on blast everywhere).
One was for "inciting violence" - I was joking about mosquitoes getting cancer under a picture of a mosquito perched on a cigarette
One was for pasting the list of DOGE staff (it's a government job so it is public record) because Elon whined to his buddy Spez
The final permanent ban was for saying that the mods of r/cybertruck are losers.
Same here. All mine were ridiculous in a similar vein.
The permaban was for agreeing with a Muslim that the bloke who disarmed that Bondi shooter and didn’t shoot him was because he’s a peaceful, forgiving man who couldn’t do it which was in fact the truth.
I don’t think I was alone, I think a few got banned at the same time. I was already here before then because I could see the writing on the wall.
i think the closest mine was to a real "advocation of violence" was when i posted my daydream about krasnov dying like elvis, only it happening on camera so it's more ignominious. and a whole lot of weegees and luigi twerking gifs because if you are not rebelling against the absurdities and injustices of existence in even the teensiest ways and making yourself laugh, what are you doing?
i've posted here about the Robert-François Damiens because i pushed the boundary that far (and no further) and got away with it.
I got banned from reddit because users were cheering the harming of trans kids, and I told said users I hoped they'd get hit with a brick.
Reddit is a right-wing shithole with a neo-liberal facade.
Oh I'm pretty sure the admins have banned me site-wide since I called them out for doxing a trans coworker to the mods of a far-right UK subreddit, I have a laundry list of ridiculous bans including joking about a dog shooting another dog in the same post as Garry Tan's name, I'm not defending Reddit.
Its just that last time I went to r/bannedFromReddit it was AA cesspit.
You were banned for inciting violence. Which is the reason for every ban I ever got:
- "can't wait for the first influencer to die in one of these" (1man quadcopter)
- facetiously telling someone to place a stick through their own spokes while riding their bike in response to a very dumb question.
- saying everyone linked in the Epstein files should get the rope.
I didn't notice a political correlation.
The banhammer gets triggered by a certain combination of names and acts of violence.
A rule that is all too often conveniently & unevenly applied.
You tend to not see the posts where the rule has already been applied
I got a warning for saying I wanted to shoot (in Reddead Redemption) children (who were being pests on voicechat).
i have to say, there were days when after dealing with the really pesky kids in my wife's class i fired up the old fallout

I was banned for pointing out a mods hypocrisy of removing some ads while keeping others even when the sub specifically had a rule for no ads. Reddit admins called it harassment when I only sent one message to the mod and reported their reply for breaking the TOS/Moderator Code of Conduct.
My post on that sub didn't appear to have trolls or right wing losers in the replies.
beep why are you providing enough citation for us to figure out what the fuck is going on. bad beep.
Why do I hear the Larry David credits song in my head?
