When mobsters visit a local business they also collect payment for protection.

The best practice is to buy a separate PC for each system and while you are at it, try buying a new house to perfectly isolate both systems /s

The "primary" enemy is not the only enemy. And for each European country it might be different. It's still important to have a strong army and unity. If we are weak or divided, even if russia is on its knees, you can't be sure that another dictator won't try to take a part of Europe, like Greenland for example... I heard dictators like islands.

When you consider how many students were shoot with 3d printed guns... Oh wait, those were all manufactured by a proper business, carry on then, we don't want to interrupt big businesses.

They know. They just don't care. North Korea might be a poor shithole but Kim is an Emperor for life, and can do whatever he wants. I would guess that's what Donny aims for.

I'm not saying Kirp123 shouldn't switch now, just saying that unlike Microsoft with Win11, there is no pressure to switch to Linux, people can do it when they feel ready.

Not really, Linux is constantly getting better. I tried switching a few years ago and failed miserably. I switched again recently and it feels much better now.

Since there are no CEOs and investors controlling everything, I am convinced the improvement trend will continue.

I recently started using usenet, still learning how it works. I read a few articles and decided to go with Eweka as a provider and Nzbgeek and Nzb.su indexers. Then I found that bundled with Eweka comes the NewsLazer app that has multiple cool features like browsing groups and downloading / generating previews... The problem is, that I am searching for content in my language and there is not much of it. So instead of searching things I like, sometimes I would like to check what is available. NewsLazer seems to be only aware of a few languages (and has some other issues). Is there another tool capable of the same but maybe with additional customisation?

Newbie question: is there any benefit of invite only indexers over good (paid) open indexers?

If yes, what is it? Or is "invite only" policy, only a marketing strategy? I just started and I don't know much but seeing people asking for drunken slug invites makes me want one, even though I have no idea what's behind those closed doors.
