People biting the onion is 90% of the fun of it. Let them be silly.

[–] prole@lemmy.blahaj.zone 14 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago) (3 children)

The Onion is way more subtle and clever than just making up fake quotes by celebrities

[–] hypnicjerk@lemmy.world 38 points 2 months ago (1 children)

clickhole is by the onion lol

[–] RickyRigatoni@piefed.zip 15 points 2 months ago

And were doing the fake quote thing before they made clickhole.

[–] RickyRigatoni@piefed.zip 10 points 2 months ago (1 children)

It's pretty obviously a joke quote when you take the time to read it

[–] Klear@piefed.world 6 points 2 months ago (1 children)

You got downvoted, presumably by someone who thinks it's not obviously a joke, which I find both hilarious and sad.

[–] RickyRigatoni@piefed.zip 4 points 2 months ago

Some people just have no whimsy.

[–] SmoothLiquidation@lemmy.world 4 points 2 months ago

I still picture the headline “Laura Bush noisily devours infant” from time to time and that had to be from an onion (probably a physical one) from around 2005.

[–] Viking_Hippie@lemmy.dbzer0.com 19 points 2 months ago (1 children)

You mean this ISN'T the real reason Beto lost to Human Candidate Ted Cruz?

[–] axexrx@lemmy.world 5 points 2 months ago

Hes right though, Practice abortions are the best way to ensure women arent nervous and afraid when it comes to the real thing!

Its no different than doing practice exams, mock job interviews, etc.

*hilarious bullshit quotes.

She def said it. Confused the living shit out of me back in the day.

[–] SpontaneousCombustion@lemmy.world 30 points 2 months ago (3 children)

It’s even worse that it was considered a “big creative risk”.

People out of touch with reality often think they are trend-setters, when they're usually years, if not decades, behind the times.

It depends on when they became rich or famous.

We also don't know when this quote came out. After years and years of being asked about the same song you have to say something. Maybe she did worry for an afternoon or a day, and now she just needed a story. People are voracious.

[–] Hawke@lemmy.world 10 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

We do know. Despite what the sibling poster said, it came out 2015, May 26. It’s a fake quote but we do know when it was released!

[–] Watermark710@piefed.social 6 points 2 months ago

We also don’t know when this quote came out.

We actually do, the answer is "never". It's from a satire site called Clickhole. She never said this.

[–] _haha_oh_wow_@sh.itjust.works 2 points 2 months ago

I was about to say, wtf?

[–] yakko@feddit.uk 18 points 2 months ago (1 children)

I'm choosing to assume she was joking, because if she was then she's hilarious

[–] sudoMakeUser@sh.itjust.works 18 points 2 months ago

Everyone taking this post seriously is hilarious

[–] BreadOven@lemmy.world 7 points 2 months ago

At least credit click hole.

[–] BeUnique@lemmy.zip 7 points 2 months ago

This sounds like something a bunch of disconnected music executives tried to tell her.

[–] Thorry@feddit.org 5 points 2 months ago

Don't listen to the h8ters Avril!

[–] Etterra@discuss.online 5 points 2 months ago (1 children)

To my knowledge and nobody ever accused her of being a genius.

And yet, millions seem to think Trump is one.

Makes you wonde what value the word has, eh?

[–] TBi@lemmy.world 3 points 2 months ago

Those people probably asked what the 8 meant…

[–] DarkCloud@lemmy.world 4 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

The 8 is because there are eight skater boys, right?

[–] Big_Boss_77@fedinsfw.app 4 points 2 months ago

Only ever confused her

[–] Proprietary_Blend@lemmy.world 3 points 2 months ago

Big? That's YUGE!

[–] Kaesekalup@lemmy.wtf 3 points 2 months ago

Melissa never said that. I must know it, she is me

[–] melsaskca@lemmy.ca 3 points 2 months ago

I guess she never read "Thrasher" magazine. They were using that phrase well before the song.

[–] batucada@lemmy.world 3 points 2 months ago

Next you are going to tell me that the correct pronounciantion for Canadian musician Joel Zimmerman's stage name is not "dead - mau - five"

If this video is supposed to be saying it wasn't original and plagiarized all these songs, then the person who made it is an idiot and knows very little about music. Like this is made by an edgy 12 year old or possibly even an AI.

It straight up just includes a cover.

[–] brokenwing@discuss.tchncs.de 1 points 2 months ago

I despise the fact that, I can't read English to fathom this humorous statement.
