Welcome to the News community!

Rules:

1. Be civil

Attack the argument, not the person. No racism/sexism/bigotry. Good faith argumentation only. This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban. Do not respond to rule-breaking content; report it and move on.

2. All posts should contain a source (url) that is as reliable and unbiased as possible and must only contain one link.

Obvious biased sources will be removed at the mods’ discretion. Supporting links can be added in comments or posted separately but not to the post body. Sources may be checked for reliability using Wikipedia, MBFC, AdFontes, GroundNews, etc.

3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.

Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.

4. Post titles should be the same as the article used as source. Clickbait titles may be removed.

Posts which titles don’t match the source may be removed. If the site changed their headline, we may ask you to update the post title. Clickbait titles use hyperbolic language and do not accurately describe the article content. When necessary, post titles may be edited, clearly marked with [brackets], but may never be used to editorialize or comment on the content.

5. Only recent news is allowed.

Posts must be news from the most recent 30 days.

6. All posts must be news articles.

No opinion pieces, Listicles, editorials, videos, blogs, press releases, or celebrity gossip will be allowed. All posts will be judged on a case-by-case basis. Mods may use discretion to pre-approve videos or press releases from highly credible sources that provide unique, newsworthy content not available or possible in another format.

7. No duplicate posts.

If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.

8. Misinformation is prohibited.

Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.

9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.

All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.

10. Don't copy entire article in your post body

For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.

He shot someone after instigating a fight with them. Really hoping he gets buried under the prison and gets the book thrown at him. Guy is a legit degen and danger to society.

I've found that maggots get really pissed if you pronounce it like macaw but with a G - "muh GAW"

He then refused to pay for his meal costing $371.55

Did this meal include multiple full bottles of alcohol?

[–] P00ptart@lemmy.world 4 points 21 hours ago

There were 2 entrees, which he obviously had himself because nobody would be seen with this guy, and yes, alcohol. But that's no excuse for this shitbag.

For people confused on why he’s going to get BTFO:

Restrictions on Deadly Force: Deadly force is generally not justified if the defender was engaged in criminal activity, provoked the conflict, or if the aggressor had a legal right to be present. Historically, Tennessee did not permit deadly force solely to protect property.

He provoked the conflict, then shot the guy.

Tennessee

$10 days he gets a light sentence, a bunch of parole, and a personal ball gargling by the Governor

Nah, he’s gonna get the book thrown at him. He used a firearm in a fistfight after instigating it.

He has a history of bucking up to people and trying to start fights to illicit a response. He’s screwed if he doesn’t take a plea deal.

That is all true.

He also tweeted about his premeditated his desire to kill a black man and claim self-defense.

But he's also a white MAGA man in Tennessee, accused of trying to kill a black man, who did fight back.

I would be very surprised if he gets the book thrown at him.

You should expect him to eventually escape with few consequences, at least don't be surprised if that's what happens.

Or, he's a dumbass and makes the other racists look bad, so they throw the book at him and claim they aren't racists. Using this conviction as cover the next time they strip away rights from minorities.

[–] ZombiFrancis@sh.itjust.works 2 points 10 hours ago (1 children)

Or they let him off, creating more case law to let themselves and their failsons off when they go and do a racial murder.

They know the court of public opinion is separate from the actual power behind legal mechanisms. They don't need to hide their racism, the stripping away rights of minorities is supported locally, by the state, and backed up by the federal government.

No, the clansmen in power use the cops for their enforcement, not randos who try to kill people in the street, outside the courthouse.

I've seen very similar scenarios play out.

It's a case of lawful evil vs chaotic evil, the lawful evil likes the motives of the chaotic, but cannot abide the chaos. Attempted murder, in broad daylight, in front of the courthouse, with a posted comment talking about his plans for murder. This guy is going to be made an example.

Idk, shooting at a courthouse tends to bias the judges against you. I wouldn't be shocked if you're right, but I'd be at least a little surprised.

He looks like a Viltrumite with a meth addiction.

[–] Fishnoodle@lemmy.world 7 points 1 day ago

He's on that Viltrumeth
