also you can pay their fee using cash in an envelope.

don't send cash in the mail by the way.

[–] rapide@piefed.zip 58 points 4 days ago (2 children)

Why not? Mail is much more protected legally than online transactions are.

Except that most postal services prohibit sending cash, and will therefore not give a shit if the cash gets lost

Most postal

First example of allow cash letters: https://www.deutschepost.de/de/e/einschreiben/kuendigung-abo-themen/geld-verschicken.html

Registered mail is allowed with an amount of up to 100€ (insured).
And the recipient has to accept it personally.

This is what Mullvad says on their payment page.

Following these instructions helps us to process your payment more quickly

Do not use the same token more than once. Do not send coins, checks, or money orders. Do not send parcels or boxes. Do not seal the envelope with excessive amounts of tape. Do not use registered mail. Do not send large amounts of cash. Expect post to take at least two weeks before it arrives in our PO box. We check our PO box and credit accounts every day of the working week. Please be patient if your account has not been credited. We deal with payments as quickly as we can.

I guess they aren't saying that they won't accept registered mail, just that it will take longer to process.

Except mail is easily lost or stolen and cash cant be traced.

cash cant be traced

I think this is a feature, not a bug. You assume the risk in exchange for some privacy assuming you don't deanonymize yourself on the return address.

Yeah well, it’s a trade off that might be worth it for some in specific situations.

Personally, I've never not received something that was sent in the mail. I've had stuff stolen on my doorstep, but my mail carrier has a 100% success rate at getting things to my door.

[–] LodeMike@lemmy.today 18 points 4 days ago (1 children)

This is why you don't send over $100

[–] testaccount789@sh.itjust.works 7 points 4 days ago (1 children)

I used to send €10 O_o
Mostly because I liked getting all the different stamps to send it with.

It would take quite a while in the end. Print address to envelope, print code, insert money, close envelope, take out all the stamps, calculate the combination to get right value, check the available stock for each stamp, recalculate (no way I am using ones out of stock), take a soft brush, dip in water, wet the stamps, stick them on, make sure they're on well, let dry, take to mailbox, wait up to 10 days for it to arrive and get credited.

You could print a random letter or graphic(s), preferably on heavier paper, and wrap the cash inside. That should make it a little harder to feel or spot on x-ray.

I was expecting this at the first half of the sentence: https://27bslash6.com/overdue.html

Very much outside US as well: https://mullvad.net/en/help/partnerships-and-resellers

Yesterday I tried Proxy Store for the first time (previously I used German Amazon), I'll see how that ends up. Though I wasn't able to pay with card, because PayPal. Apparently, we now have instant bank transfers accross entire SEPA, so it was sent out on the same day.

[–] lime@feddit.nu 2 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago)

oh for some reason i thought you meant like some sort of generic cash vouchers. i even have those mullvad scratch-offs myself. i'm a dumb.

[–] boonhet@sopuli.xyz 1 points 4 days ago

Apparently, we now have instant bank transfers accross entire SEPA

We've had those for nearly a decade, some banks just took ages to update their apps and websites to actually make use of it for all eligible payments because of course they did.

Just 4 years ago, it cost like 3 or 7 euros to transfer money to Revolut from Swedbank Estonia and it took a business day, because it was considered a foreign transfer and Swedbank had "domestic transfers" and "foreign transfers" as separate options and the former couldn't send to a Lithuanian IBAN and the latter didn't use SEPA Instant. Other Estonian banks did it instantly already by then.

VPN with options for total privacy.

They have been raided many times in their Swedish headquarters and never had any data to give to the police
