Acting like he was at an exceptional dinner theater performance. What a fuckkng idiot.

On second thought, maybe he actually was. 🤷

[–] freeman@sh.itjust.works 46 points 2 days ago

Probably froze and is trying to keep ua macho persona

[–] SnarkoPolo@lemmy.world 28 points 2 days ago (2 children)

Because you knew it was staged, you faux-macho cuck.

[–] Jankatarch@lemmy.world 10 points 2 days ago (1 children)

At this point I just wanna know if it was distraction from the files, ballroom budgeting excuse, or polymarket.

[–] Croquette@sh.itjust.works 6 points 2 days ago

Why not a healthy mix of everything?

All fighting is a little like that though. Boxing has “journeymen” who often have 5:100 win:loss records and are just there to train startup boxers and not risk hurting them.

Once in a while they win against morons like Jake Paul, but I think that usually happens when they’re ready to retire, since that might keep them from getting called up again.

And with all the betting apps now I think the likelihood of fixing all sports are astronomically higher.

I wonder when the serious people will try. With the amateurs getting this close solo so many times...

[–] Pyrixas@piefed.social 32 points 2 days ago

Well, Mr.White, if you'd like, you can find how awesome it'd be to be in the frontlines. Go on forth and never duck for any cover, you'll gladly take the first bullet fired at you.

[–] Etterra@discuss.online 2 points 1 day ago

Oh so he's fucking crazy and a moron.

[–] IAmYouButYouDontKnowYet@reddthat.com 12 points 2 days ago (1 children)

If I didn't live in america, I would would assume all Americans are worthless.

[–] PapaSkwat@lemmy.wtf -1 points 2 days ago (2 children)

Well, according to Lemmy, it wasn't even real, so...

[–] grue@lemmy.world 8 points 2 days ago (2 children)

I mean, either he knew in advance that it was staged and he wasn't in any real danger, or he's literally insane and delusional about his own mortality. Neither is a good look on his part.

[–] ArcaneSlime@lemmy.dbzer0.com 5 points 2 days ago (2 children)

Said it before about the guy eating soup and I'll say it again, I wouldn't have moved either unless he made it in the room. No fucking way he was making it past all the security and even if he did, I'm not the target, I'll give him the ol' "he went that-a-way."

"Fucking awesome" is a little far though lol, didn't at least one guy die/get shot in the line of duty?

[–] curbstickle@anarchist.nexus 5 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Personally I'd have no faith in some unknown rando's ability to shoot accurately or in the ability of an interior wall to protect me.

The ability to get through security and into the room are not the only concerns.

[–] ArcaneSlime@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Eh, more like 30 semi-randos, even if your average gun owning civilian is a better shot than average law enforcement officer that only quals once a year at best (which only applies to Police afaik, I do not know how rigorous the Secret Service is, I assume "more" but never know), that's still working in my favor just by odds. The interior wall, fair, but still, it had to be over pretty fucking quick, how many shots did he even get off? How far away does it sound? Those details would also play a role in my decision.

[–] curbstickle@anarchist.nexus -1 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Eh, more like 30 semi-randos

Holy crap you're right and its so much worse

how many shots did he even get off?

I wouldn't be waiting to count them to react, the first is the indicator.

How far away does it sound?

Close enough that you can hear it, close enough to go for safety first and assess after.

[–] ArcaneSlime@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 2 days ago (2 children)

Tbf, it was "fine" (respects to the family of the guy who did get shot of course), the shooter didn't make it anywhere near soup guy and probably not this guy either.

Shootings get to a large number of casualties when they shoot at unarmed people, this guy stormed a line of armed people, much harder.

At the end of the day it's their gamble to make anyway, but it by itself isn't evidence of a set up, they could just be passively suicidal if you prefer that to logically thinking about the fact that he will not get past the guards.

[–] PapaSkwat@lemmy.wtf 1 points 1 day ago

this guy stormed a line of armed people

And threw his life away. What's even funnier, is that he did all that, wrote his mainfesto, and Lemmy doesn't think any of it's real anyway.

So the shooter didn't even get to make the point he thought he was making! lololololol He had a good job, good life. Now he's gonna go to prison for the rest of his life. The republicans will always think he is a sicko. Democrats believe he was just a plant. Best justice ever! lmao

[–] curbstickle@anarchist.nexus 1 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Oh I'm not saying it was fake, I'm saying the lack of response is a complete lack of self preservation.

Reacting is the typical response. That's all.

[–] ArcaneSlime@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 2 days ago

Some are lol. I mean you're not wrong it is "normal" but also not necessarily a lack of self preservation, could be faith in the Secret Service. Or faith in The Lord™ I guess, maybe he believes and doesn't mind meeting him lol.

[–] grue@lemmy.world 1 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I mean, he could make a guess, but there was no way for him to know for sure the shooter wasn't trying to target him. (Unless he had been told in advance.) If it were a genuine incident, then for all he knew, maybe the shooter intended to murder everybody in the room or something.

Normal, sane people simply do not react the way he did in a situation like that.

[–] ArcaneSlime@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Yeah, I'm in a room with Trump and I'm the target. Sure lol. We all know who the target is. He doesn't have enough time and ammo for the whole class, his real target is getting away, he's slow, if you hurry you can maybe catch up...

[–] grue@lemmy.world 3 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (1 children)

Assuming you're not an insane idiot with a death wish, are you really gonna be doing all that logic in your head while somebody is actively shooting in your general direction? C'mon, now.

[–] ArcaneSlime@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Was it in my general direction? It's a big place, could very well not be in the backstop. How do I know the shot wasn't a secret service agent neutralizing a threat, seems quiet now I guess they got him.

[–] grue@lemmy.world 0 points 2 days ago (1 children)

You could catch a stray from a SS agent returning fire almost as easily as you could from the shooter himself.

The bottom line is, a reasonable person ducks. Only a clown or a troll doesn't understand that.

[–] ArcaneSlime@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 2 days ago

One would think they'd be aiming in the direction the attacker is coming from, which since this isn't amogus is "probably the other way."

[–] PapaSkwat@lemmy.wtf 0 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (1 children)

Or he's just bullshitting trying to look tough to match his image. Not everything is fucking fake news. Do you know what party used to go around screaming "fake news!" for everything just a few years ago?

You guys are becoming them. Is that what you want?! lol

[–] grue@lemmy.world 2 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

He was hardly alone in the room. If he were lying about not ducking somebody would have called him out on it immediately.

As someone recently said, "Not everything is fucking fake news."

[–] kandoh@reddthat.com 5 points 2 days ago (1 children)

We're in a bad place when both sides refuse to believe anything

[–] PapaSkwat@lemmy.wtf -2 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (2 children)

Agreed. Lemmy users claiming that every assassination attempt is fake is just as cringeworthy and bizarre as when some Republicans used to insist school shootings were fake or staged.

I'm watching Lemmy posters slowly morph into the very people they claim to hate. They just vote D instead of R. That's the only real difference. It's crazy to see it happening in real time. In this very thread there is a guy saying it was "staged." lolol (Hi @SnarkoPolo@lemmy.world )

[–] TubularTittyFrog@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

most of them don't vote at all. they just day-dream about the glorious future of communism and UBI.

voting is too much real-world effort for them.

[–] PapaSkwat@lemmy.wtf -1 points 1 day ago

And don't forget they want the UBI so they can smoke weed and play video games all day. LMAO

[–] yuri@pawb.social 1 points 2 days ago (2 children)

this kind of attitude seems disingenuous

[–] TubularTittyFrog@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (2 children)

it's not. it's called horseshoe theory. the more extreme ends of the political spectrum have far more common than they do with the people in the middle.

often the far left and the far right are basically only talking to each other, and they do not acknowledge the 80% of people who are neither, or they are extremely hostile to them, seeking them as being part of the other side.

[–] 0_o7@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 1 day ago

It's not. it's called horseshoe theory. the more extreme ends of the political spectrum have far more common than they do with the people in the middle.

See, this is the disingenuous part they are talking about. Lemmy and fediverse as a whole is by nature not aligned with either end of the political spectrum.

It's how tankie and western propaganda are being dismantled by the community every fucking day.

You disingenuous fucks try to frame it as polarizing ends because your bubble are being burst, influence fading and your programming is to cope.

We have extreme left on ml, hexbear and zionist platforms that are more or less hated and demonified, unlike places where one rules over the other.

And yes we love safe spaces for minorities where they can be themselves away from wannabe nazis and neoliberals who don't give a fuck as long as they are not affected.

Take your pathetic attempt at discouraging people from fediverse somewhere else.

[–] PapaSkwat@lemmy.wtf 2 points 1 day ago

Great explanation! That sums up what I was trying to point out perfectly. Thank you!
