I'm having trouble finding klitoris in the repos. Anyone know where it is? AUR?

[–] baguettefish@discuss.tchncs.de 44 points 1 month ago (1 children)

it can take an entire lifetime to find klitoris. just buy my $999 (now $666 for a limited time) course where i will show you how to sometimes find it 100% of the time guaranteed*

[–] cows_are_underrated@feddit.org 29 points 1 month ago

The course be like:

grep -R "klitoris" /

[–] Rai@lemmy.dbzer0.com 18 points 1 month ago

Something something “yay”!

[–] Nyadia@lemmy.blahaj.zone 16 points 1 month ago

It's in the AUR as klitoris-gtk-git. Or is it klitoris-qt-git? There might have been a klitoris-qt-bin but the maintainer stopped updating that one like a year ago and nobody's picked it up. Actually now that I think about it none of the AUR versions are up to date, you gotta get it straght from github. Ah, no wait that one's a fork, the OG is on sourceforge. Or was it gitlab? No no no actually I remember now, it used to be up on gitlab but they moved over to GNU Savannah, so the gitlab version is out of date. Oh by the way it relies on old versions of libraries and other dependencies that no distros actually have in their repos anymore. It won't compile with the newer versions of those dependencies and they don't provide a binary. People are complaining about that on the Issues page but it's only developed by like one guy and he doesn't even know why the newer versions won't work he just knows it works on his system. Still refuses to provide a binary though. Oh right there's that fork I mentioned, that might work. Ah wait nevermind that was an attempt of making a gtk version of klitoris but the developer abandoned that project unfinished and hasn't been seen since 2022.

It's just "Copilot" for everything in Windows these days

[–] olenkoVD@lemmy.dbzer0.com 92 points 1 month ago (2 children)
[–] ProfessorProteus@lemmy.world 22 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Missed opportunity for the search input placeholder to say "Search for Copilot"

On Linux it's klitoris, forked to CLItoris, then open-clit, then freeclit then onepiece

[–] basxto@discuss.tchncs.de 36 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Some people definitely rewrote it as μCLIt and BSDclit for size/licensing reasons

[–] Spezi@feddit.org 17 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (2 children)

And then there will be endless discussions if it should be pronounced uclit or microclit

Microsoft: Task Doing-er 5

Linux: some cute animal

[–] Agent641@lemmy.world 55 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Linux: some cute animal except spelled awkwardly. Quomodo. Ekidnah. Magpye. Blootoona

[–] jxk@sh.itjust.works 9 points 1 month ago

Me: These are unironically good names

[–] bestboyfriendintheworld@sh.itjust.works 18 points 1 month ago (2 children)

Apple would use a minimalist and confusing name like: Task

More like Linux: "Kritoris" which achtually is a 2500 year old greek symbol for harvest tools.

[–] 4am@lemmy.zip 28 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Linux devs would name something “Klitoris” literally just so the project website could say “you’ve finally found what you’re looking for”

[–] PlexSheep@infosec.pub 8 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

[–] Jankatarch@lemmy.world 28 points 1 month ago

It's by kde.

[–] 4am@lemmy.zip 20 points 1 month ago

10x devs just vibe code it in Rust to balance out the security issues 🤔

The first K would stand for KLITORIS.

That's just KDE. But why am I imagining a mirror dimension universe where its called CDE and all the software names are normal words with the k's replaced with c's.

i love Linux

[–] jaybone@lemmy.zip 12 points 1 month ago

Oh I’m not in femcelmemes

[–] FishFace@piefed.social 9 points 1 month ago (11 children)

Is this just a reference to The GIMP or are there other common apps with dodgy names? I'm struggling to think of any.

[–] PotatoesFall@discuss.tchncs.de 14 points 1 month ago

The app starting with K is probably a nod to how KDE names many of their projects something that starts with K. (Konsole, Kate, Kdenlive, Krita).

The litoris part probably refers to how linux apps often name things after random weird stuff, e.g. gimp, but it's not always genital/sexual related I guess.
