Anyone have experience with Amazon alternatives in the US? I have also canceled Amazon prime
Depends on the product really. Like I buy alot of tot stuff, and I woukd shop BigBad, Entertainment Earth, or Hasbro Pulse before Amazon for domestic, and Goodsmile shop or even import from AmiAmi for Japanese stuff. But with shipping rates I don't use AmiAmi anymore.
i mean it depends what you are looking for. they have their thumbs in a lot of pies. my favorite amazon alternative is the local public library, but my library is pretty awesome. only end up buying the books i really want to add to my personal library now.
god damn patriot!
Congratulations, seriously.
I stopped using mine years ago but still got a monthly "bill" of $0.00 for aws services for some reason.
I'm happy to report I've finally fully deleted my account. I feel so light. ๐ฅฐ

Mein gott, muss das sein? So ein bockmist aber auch.
(thats the full extent of my German language skills)
Hahaha, that seems extensive enough :P
They are working on translating the page, but I didn't want that to keep me from posting that awesome project :)
Good that you shared, I like knowing that these projects exist :)
What's the European alternative?
just out of curiosity, why does there need to be a marketplace? there are plenty of stores everywhere and 99% are online. i live in a small ass country and I've never had to use amazon. i just type the item name in a search engine followed by "price" in my language and it hasn't failed. but maybe my needs aren't specific enough?
It's almost always possible to find anything amazon offers on other european stores. It's not a one-stop-for-all, but that's an unnecessary convenience.
I also do local online searches before buying on Amazon but some things they are much cheaper.
Find a webpage comparing prices from different shops and buy from shops in your country or even city. For Germany I use idealo.
I deleted mine a year ago and I've found, that I don't even need it.
If I'm buying something online, I just go to the actual website of the vendor/producer
Ditched them and my prime account a year ago, welcome to the club!
Good work! I cancelled my prime subscription and have not ordered anything from Amazon 2 months ago. When my current sub time ends in October I plan to also delete my account.
I've been making a more conscious effort to avoid buying American ever since Trump got re-elected (both for reducing dependency or American tech firms, as well as not finanicially supporting a country with a fascist government) and Amazon was one of the easiest companies to cut out of my life.
There's still plenty of alternative webstores in the Netherlands at least.
โThank you for your attention to this matter!โ ๐ค๐ป
I have one remaining but have deleted almost everything. My monthly cost is like 30 cents. :)
Better late then never my friend! I got rid of mine about 10 years ago. If a product only exists on Amazon, then I don't want it
It's genuinely surprising how you just don't have to use it and it's not a problem. The closest I've come is ordering something from an individual and it comes in an amazon box
It feels like you'd miss it but it you just try to find an alternative or wait a week, either you'll find your alternative or more often even realise you never needed the thing in the first place.
And for anyone who is like "but I CAN'T get this one thing that I NEED anywhere else" I believe you. So just get that one thing from amazon and try your best to find everything else from another source.
You aren't helpless.
