Rules:

1. Be civil

Attack the argument, not the person. No racism/sexism/bigotry. Good faith argumentation only. This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban. Do not respond to rule-breaking content; report it and move on.

2. All posts should contain a source (url) that is as reliable and unbiased as possible and must only contain one link.

Obvious biased sources will be removed at the mods’ discretion. Supporting links can be added in comments or posted separately but not to the post body. Sources may be checked for reliability using Wikipedia, MBFC, AdFontes, GroundNews, etc.

3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.

Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.

4. Post titles should be the same as the article used as source. Clickbait titles may be removed.

Posts which titles don’t match the source may be removed. If the site changed their headline, we may ask you to update the post title. Clickbait titles use hyperbolic language and do not accurately describe the article content. When necessary, post titles may be edited, clearly marked with [brackets], but may never be used to editorialize or comment on the content.

5. Only recent news is allowed.

Posts must be news from the most recent 30 days.

6. All posts must be news articles.

No opinion pieces, Listicles, editorials, videos, blogs, press releases, or celebrity gossip will be allowed. All posts will be judged on a case-by-case basis. Mods may use discretion to pre-approve videos or press releases from highly credible sources that provide unique, newsworthy content not available or possible in another format.

7. No duplicate posts.

If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.

8. Misinformation is prohibited.

Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.

9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.

All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.

10. Don't copy entire article in your post body

For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.

Perfect example of the Streisand Effect. I would never have seen this photo if it weren't for this article.

Transgender???!?1!1!2?!

[–] paraphrand@lemmy.world 14 points 20 hours ago

Oh no, her true normal human appearance.

This incident will accelerate her case of Mar-a-Lago Face.

I never would've seen this photo if they hadn't mentioned they were upset with it.

[–] garretble@lemmy.world 5 points 17 hours ago

I can see why they are upset, she's out of focus there on the left.

the agency was “made aware” that the White House did not like the photo, but stressed that the decision to remove the image was “an internal editorial one, based on our standard quality and selection criteria” and that there was no external pressure.

For what it's worth, as an amateur photographer I agree. It's a very weird image of Karoline Leavitt towering over a turkey and—as the oblique angle suggests—threateningly.

Press photography does not need to be flattering. It can also be framed to tell a story.

[–] Aatube@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 17 hours ago

an incredibly bizarre story that isn't true, unless leavitt is that long-foretold slayer of the cuccoo

I'm pleased to see an honest assessment from someone in the business.

... Isn't the turkey at the White House Thanksgiving dinner... ceremonially pardoned?

Like its kind of an ongoing joke?

I mean, I would not put it past these people to kill it, just because they can, but... eh ...?

Anyway yes its very stupid to get mad over a somewhat unflattering photo.

Almost no one looks good from this kind of angle, and... anyone who knows anything about photography would know that, and thus not really care that much?

Its a goofy picture.

I guess the White House is the no fun allowed zone.

sigh

[–] Aatube@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 17 hours ago

i wonder how many "fun" pictures the AFP does have

[–] TheHighRoad@lemmy.world 20 points 23 hours ago

I would have never seen this picture if not for this, and my life would have been measurably better.

Because tRump only likes hot blondes with tight little bodies and she knows this

[–] TryingToBeGood@reddthat.com 12 points 1 day ago

Isn't she pregnant? All the photos are about to get a lot less flattering.

[–] keyhoh@piefed.social 10 points 1 day ago

Another piggy that should stay quiet.

[–] Quilotoa@lemmy.ca 2 points 22 hours ago

What meltdown? All I read is that some made the whitehouse aware the photo was unflattering.

[–] lemmyng@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Oh yeah, I can see how unflattering that photo is. That turkey looks more fuckable than her.

[–] Didntdoit71@feddit.online 2 points 21 hours ago

Be honest...nothing could ever really make her fuckable for a man with any sort of taste. The devil himself would do a hard pass on that ass. Source: I am Satan.
