I feel like I'm not on this sub enough to get the joke. Are we referring to the Tuvix incident?

[–] Kirk@startrek.website 1 points 3 days ago

dingdingding

[–] Solumbran@lemmy.world 49 points 1 week ago (5 children)

I mean... Crimes of war Sisko?

[–] HobbitFoot@thelemmy.club 35 points 1 week ago

War crimes are not a burden. After all, he can live with it.

[–] NotASharkInAManSuit@lemmy.world 11 points 1 week ago

He was a really good dad, so it evens out.

[–] GuyFawkes@sh.itjust.works 4 points 1 week ago

Those war crimes saved the Alpha Quadrant!

[–] Skullgrid@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I mean… Crimes of war Sisko?

Fucking yes! More people recognizing Sisko is a bastard.

[–] Solumbran@lemmy.world 10 points 1 week ago (1 children)

For me it was always obvious.

I mean, Janeway was thrown into a hostile environment with basically nothing, and sometimes picked the less moral choices, to make her crew survive.

Sisko decided to ruin the lives of basically a whole planet, just because he was to arrogant to admit that he got defeated.

I think there's a matter of context, and Sisko has no way to justify his behaviour other than "I see myself as god so I can do whatever I want"

Hey, if space-Jesus is going to make his omelet, he's gonna have to break some eggs.

I'm sorry, but were you under the impression that Janeway, in any fashion, fucks around?

[–] Evil_Shrubbery@thelemmy.club 33 points 1 week ago (1 children)

(Except for the salamander fucking around.)

[–] HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world 9 points 1 week ago (1 children)

that was not around. that was a committed salamander relationship

[–] GuyFawkes@sh.itjust.works 3 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Committed? I heard they split like immediately after their first brood, THEN became deadbeat parents who never saw them again!

[–] HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world 4 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

yeah, but that was when they was filthy hue mahns. as salamanders they would never

[–] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 3 points 1 week ago

Those salamander babies are going to grow up and evolve into intelligent reptilians, and Janeway and Paris will be their Adam & Eve.

[–] zero_spelled_with_an_ecks@programming.dev 31 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Even Troi had to kill someone to complete her bridge officer test.

[–] Kirk@startrek.website 14 points 1 week ago (1 children)

yes but she felt bad about it

[–] TheFerrango@lemmings.world 3 points 1 week ago

I sure feel bad about sacrificing everyone in this planet, but I really want that admiral promotion

[–] veeesix@lemmy.ca 17 points 1 week ago (4 children)

Hol up. My feelings matter?

Well no, not yours.

[–] Thedogdrinkscoffee@lemmy.ca 16 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Not really. It's just what captains say to keep crews slaving away and risking their lives without compensation.

[–] xkbx@startrek.website 4 points 1 week ago

Their feelings matter it’s just that nothing’s gonna really be done about it

[–] evidences@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Bro it's a post scarcity society what do I need a pay check for?

Maybe you're the exception that proves the rule

[–] hakunawazo@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago

Yes, sure... now put your security officer suit on and beam on this episodes dangerous planet.

[–] Evil_Shrubbery@thelemmy.club 11 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Coffee addition is "ok", murder was absolutely necessary.

[–] Kirk@startrek.website 5 points 1 week ago

"if i somehow couldnt do murders anymore id probably just fly into a black hole" -Janeway

[–] OpenStars@piefed.social 4 points 1 week ago (1 children)

No fucking way. Janeway like her coffee SO MUCH (how much is that, you ask? I will tell you, she loves her coffee SO MUCH!!) that she would even go to the extreme ends of not murdering someone to get it.

Possibly not Tuvix though, bc fuck that one guy in particular.

But a normal everyday murder, on a Tuesday, she would absolutely forego in order to have her coffee fix.

[–] Evil_Shrubbery@thelemmy.club 5 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Lmao, given the choice between coffee and killing Tuvix she would still kill Tuvix. Like any good captain.

[–] OpenStars@piefed.social 3 points 1 week ago (6 children)

We all have to make sacrifices, in order to kill Tuvix.

But the important thing is, can she find a way to also get coffee out of the situation?

If the answer is anything at all related to proton torpedos, then the answer is an obvious yes!

Just a little murder, now and then. As a treat!

[–] BeardedGingerWonder@feddit.uk 7 points 1 week ago

Think of all the murders she did when the camera weren't rolling.

Man, when Pike said that line I burst into tears. Incredible performance by Anson Mount.

Not the political compass I'm used to

[–] NigelFrobisher@aussie.zone 7 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Sometimes you’ve got to break some eggs

[–] Omegamanthethird@lemmy.world 5 points 1 week ago (1 children)

To be clear, the eggs are people.

[–] IratePirate@feddit.org 6 points 1 week ago

Weird omelette, but I'll try it.

[–] TootSweet@lemmy.world 5 points 1 week ago

Archer: Racism is ok.

[–] fireweed@lemmy.world 5 points 1 week ago (1 children)

How come Picard gets to wear his v2 uniform but not Sisko? (Also why's his hair upside-down?)

[–] Kirk@startrek.website 11 points 1 week ago

ummmm temporal anomaly (for both questions)?

[–] Snowclone@lemmy.world 4 points 1 week ago (1 children)

What's even crazier is they had to promote Sisco from Lt. to Commander to give him a whole space station, then promoted him to Captain and gave him a ship for his space station. When I'm pretty sure if your running a space station you should at least be an Admiral. Did this never make sense to anyone else?

[–] King_Bob_IV@startrek.website 7 points 1 week ago

It was meant to be a backwater station around a planet that was unstable. Mostly they job was be in the way of cardasian return and try valiently to get things towards Fed membership. I believe he had been a Lt commander aboard ships serving as the XO. He was at least a project lead at the ship yards. He may have even run the yards, I don't recall right now.

He was pushed into a command role that was intended to bring him back to where his career was many to be.

The rank of a station commander depends on the importance of the station in the fleet. Admiralty are posted to stations that are region command stations. The postings serve as command of the fleets in the region as well. For smaller posts the rank to command them drops a lot. Sisko was placed in command of one small station with a couple runabouts. The rank of Commander suits the post. Once it got more important he was already imbedded deeply with the the bajorans.

Admiral Marcus be like:

Let's kill the entire crew of the Enterprise so I can get away with starting a war

[–] Grandwolf319@sh.itjust.works 3 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (1 children)

My issue with the “you’re not a burden” is that, it may be true and that you can totally be a burden.

Whereas I think it’s always okay to ask for help is universally true.

[–] Kirk@startrek.website 4 points 1 week ago

That's... uh, that's the one you have an issue with?
