Flippant Anarchism. A lighter take on social criticism with the aim of agitation.

Post humorous takes on capitalism and the states which prop it up. Memes, shitposting, screenshots of humorous good takes, discussions making fun of some reactionary online, it all works.

This community is anarchist-flavored. Reactionary takes won't be tolerated.

Don't take yourselves too seriously. Serious posts go to !anarchism@lemmy.dbzer0.com

Rules

  1. If you post images with text, endeavour to provide the alt-text

  2. If the image is a crosspost from an OP, Provide the source.

  3. Absolutely no right-wing jokes. This includes "Anarcho"-Capitalist concepts.

  4. Absolutely no redfash jokes. This includes anything that props up the capitalist ruling classes pretending to be communists.

  5. No bigotry whatsoever. See instance rules.

  6. This is an anarchist comm. You don't have to be an anarchist to post, but you should at least understand what anarchism actually is. We're not here to educate you.

  7. No shaming people for being anti-electoralism. This should be obvious from the above point but apparently we need to make it obvious to the turbolibs who can't control themselves. You have the rest of lemmy to moralize.

From Wikipedia:

Webb's ex-wife, Susan Bell, told reporters that she believed Webb had died by suicide.[74] "The way he was acting it would be hard for me to believe it was anything but suicide," she said. According to Bell, Webb had been unhappy for some time over his inability to get a job at another major newspaper. He had sold his house the week before his death because he was unable to afford the mortgage.[74]

I think the inclusion of the implication that murder as covered up does more harm to his legacy. Many people will throw the baby out with the bathwater.

Edit:

Also, contemporary reporting says he left four suicide notes, instructions on the door to call 9/11, organised cremation paperwork and personal items for family.

Also, surviving point blank gunshot suicides are not unheard of. Rare; not impossible.

My problem is this generation is flippant on what it wants to know.
Fascist killed a comrade? “Who cares!”
MrBeast raped kids! “Dats my GOAT!”

He died 6 years after the "groundbreaking" book in question was published. He was kind of right about some things, but wrong about a lot of the details.

It is definitely possible to shoot yourself in the head twice while trying to commit suicide. Your skull is actually very dense, and if you don't know exactly where to point, you could easily fuck it up, but still be conscious enough to finish the job. This infograhic has been around for years and persists because of its inflammatory nature even though it's incredibly misleading.

I highly recommend you read about this man regardless.

Especially when you've got arms long enough to reach the back...twice.
