lets wait and see.

100% andrew is scum and should be in prison.

but they had decades of accusations and reports. our govt only gave a shit once it was revealed the state was the “victim”. They immediately arrested him.

lock him up, throw away the key.

[–] scarabic@lemmy.world 20 points 2 weeks ago

Decades to gather the will to act.

Seconds to start lording their superiority over the US.

He wasn't arrested for the pedo stuff, pretty sure it was state secrets.

[–] gnutrino@programming.dev 25 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

He was still arrested though and not, to pick a completely random example, elected president for a second time when no one had an excuse not to know what a massive cunt he was.

[–] D_C@sh.itjust.works 10 points 2 weeks ago

No. However in the UK, unsure about other countries, whatever they find during the searches they are doing today will bring other charges in the future (if serious enough).

If there's an inkling of paedo stuff at all then they'll rearrest and charge him again.

My understanding is that they got him on sharing trade secrets

[–] pressedhams@lemmy.blahaj.zone 27 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Exactly, nothing related to the sexual abuse and exploitation of children.

[–] scarabic@lemmy.world 4 points 2 weeks ago

The will to act is related to the sex allegations.

They’ll pin the charges on him that they’re best prepared for.

Either way, it’s related.

[–] tetris11@feddit.uk 4 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

He's about to find out like King Richard II, that it definitely is possible for a Royal to commit treason

[–] Vile_port_aloo@lemmy.world 3 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)
[–] tetris11@feddit.uk 2 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

But he's so silver-tongued and charismatic...

[–] resipsaloquitur@lemmy.world 3 points 2 weeks ago

About as appealing as an infected toe.

South Korea: That's how you deal with a wannabe dictator!

[–] blinfabian@feddit.nl 27 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)
[–] Geobloke@aussie.zone 4 points 2 weeks ago

Probably just wanted to make him sweat

For those who don't remember, he claimed that he couldn't sweat

Thats normal procedure for non-violent crimes (this wasnt about rape/abuse/trafficing), arrest them, interview them, release on bail while they go through all the material they took in the search while he was in the nick.

[–] Hayduke@lemmy.world 26 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

It would be if that was the reason they arrested him.

Oh, it's not being a massive nonce they got him for. It was leaking information.

Which is presumably why Epstein let him fly in and have a go on his girl collection in the first place.

We're hitting the point where fucking the kids is OK, but paying for it isn't.

[–] Damorte@lemmy.world 10 points 2 weeks ago

Yeah he's not convicted for fucking kids, he's convicted for fucking money. Which of course is a much worse crime as far as our owners are concerned

[–] ramenshaman@lemmy.world 17 points 2 weeks ago

And South Korea could teach us how to deal with insurrectionists

[–] Evil_Shrubbery@thelemmy.club 11 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago) (1 children)

Wait until they are old, only do something out of fear of otherwise worse consequences, and even then never even prosecute the right stuff, give them a slap on the wrists never dismantling the precesses that lead to the problem?

Yeah, idk, I keep hoping for better, but we kinda keep "giving" rich ppl more & more power, so idk why would things suddenly, magically improve.

A bit like

Did I miss something? The UK arrested his one?

[–] Hayduke@lemmy.world 7 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Yes, but not for the pedo stuff

[–] D_C@sh.itjust.works 1 points 2 weeks ago

It's still how you deal with a paedo like him, yes?

[–] wildbus8979@sh.itjust.works 7 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago) (1 children)

Yeah they arrested Andrew~~s~~

[–] atomicbocks@sh.itjust.works 3 points 2 weeks ago

Just Andrew, Andrews is a treasure and, as far as I know, has not been implicated in the files.

[–] ceenote@lemmy.world 10 points 2 weeks ago

I was looking for exactly this meme when I read that South Korea sentenced their ex-president to life in prison.

[–] mickus@sh.itjust.works 8 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Hardly. They waited so god damn long to investigate. The first photo andrew had with that girl should have been reason enough to put him in for questioning

[–] ohulancutash@feddit.uk 3 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

For what? She wasn’t underaged. The photo wasn’t evidence of a crime.

[–] davetortoise@reddthat.com 2 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

More than enough grounds for suspicion based on the context

[–] ohulancutash@feddit.uk 2 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

The bar for arrest is much higher than that.

[–] davetortoise@reddthat.com 2 points 2 weeks ago

Crouching over an unconscious woman/girl in a pedophile's mansion? Seems like if that doesn't meet the bar, it really should.

*rapist

Judge people for their actions, not how they were born

[–] Virtvirt588@lemmy.world 3 points 2 weeks ago

Agreed, it can essentially be an ableist term for those which actively fight against this illness to have a chance at a normal life.

Everyone celebrating before the trial has even began, as if it’s already done

[–] Puddinghelmet@lemmy.world 3 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

Fr👍🥳🥳🥳🥳

[–] RelativeArea1@sh.itjust.works 2 points 2 weeks ago

uhhhh... i dont know rick, this feels like its just being done to protect their status quo and that bitchass ends up in a fancy ass house arrest or smth.

[–] over_clox@lemmy.world 2 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

The rapist formerly known as prince...

Edit: Don't hate on me, I realize he wasn't arrested for that, but still, who knows what all information is left to unearth in the files...

[–] CADmonkey@lemmy.world 1 points 2 weeks ago

Didn't they let him go ten minutes later?
