Down side: you're more likely to get hit by car due to bigger hotbox

Don't forgot the LED headlights that outshine kilonovas.

[–] TheObviousSolution@lemmy.ca 2 points 9 hours ago

They already have those. They call them jeeps.

I believe cats have been getting wider by an average of 5mm per year for the last few decades

[–] WhiskyTangoFoxtrot@lemmy.world 8 points 7 hours ago

Maybe ease up on the lasagne.

You'll bring ruin upon us all!

[–] SLVRDRGN@lemmy.world 16 points 19 hours ago

The big sad box is highly accurate.

Canyonero! (Unexplained fires are matters for the courts)

[–] csm10495@sh.itjust.works 9 points 17 hours ago

The federal highway commission has ruled the Canyonero unsafe for highway or city driving.

She blinds everybody with her super high beams! She's a squirrel-squashin', deer smackin' drivin' machine!

[–] _stranger_@lemmy.world 35 points 23 hours ago

12 yards long, 2 lanes wide, 65 tons of American Pride!

[–] Gork@sopuli.xyz 30 points 1 day ago

Westside Customs in shambles for not coming up with it sooner

[–] aeronmelon@lemmy.world 11 points 21 hours ago

Stretching a 4:3 image to 16:9, IRL.

[–] Cris_Color@lemmy.world 12 points 22 hours ago

I am both horrorfied and delighted by this, thank you

[–] grue@lemmy.world 8 points 20 hours ago

I want to see that and the half-width Jeep (also owned by the same museum) driving down two lanes side by side.

[–] Etterra@discuss.online 6 points 18 hours ago

When you think your copewagon proves that you really are the main character.

[–] Tikiporch@lemmy.world 15 points 22 hours ago (1 children)

I drive a Chevrolet Movie Theater.

[–] SillyDude@lemmy.zip 3 points 19 hours ago (1 children)

I can't believe this was like 15 years ago. I also remember from the same time that I don't drink beer, I drink liquor.

[–] Soggy@lemmy.world 5 points 18 hours ago (1 children)

Fifteen? Interior Crocodile Alligator was 2007, back when ytmnd was relevant.

[–] Semi_Hemi_Demigod@lemmy.world 24 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Cars are wider because the bigger the area under the car the lower the fuel economy is allowed to be.

[–] village604@adultswim.fan 1 points 2 hours ago

There's also the fact that all of the modern safety equipment takes up more space.

[–] mech@feddit.org 7 points 19 hours ago

Which makes sense, if course

[–] aeiou@piefed.social 24 points 1 day ago

don't give them ideas

[–] speckofrust@lemmy.dbzer0.com 8 points 20 hours ago (2 children)

I’d love to know why anyone is downvoting this. Truly curious what’s to dislike here.

[–] village604@adultswim.fan 3 points 2 hours ago

They don't like being called out

[–] Naich@lemmings.world 4 points 16 hours ago

Probably strikes a nerve with some people.

[–] pancakes@sh.itjust.works 2 points 15 hours ago

That would look fierce parked diagonally 8 standard-sized parking stalls and 2 handicap stalls.

[–] StellarExtract@lemmy.zip 10 points 22 hours ago

These ads really sold me on the concept of wide cars as a kid. Just look at it, it's so wide.90s Pontiac Grand Prix magazine ad

[–] SillyDude@lemmy.zip 4 points 19 hours ago (1 children)

I drive a vehicle that's 2.5m wide, 3.5m tall, and 11m long.

[–] mech@feddit.org 5 points 19 hours ago (1 children)

Sounds perfect to drop the kids off at school. Like, all of them.

[–] SillyDude@lemmy.zip 6 points 19 hours ago (1 children)

I could hypothetically transport like 40 children depending on how you pack them, probably pretty easy because of how soft their bones are.

But I live in this thing so no trespassers.

[–] SlurpingPus@lemmy.world 1 points 1 hour ago

A bus from my childhood with very close dimensions is specced at fitting 110 adult people, eight per square meter. It was believed to possibly actually fit 200 at peak rush hour. Folks gave it a loving nickname ‘cattle wagon’.

[–] lime@feddit.nu 8 points 23 hours ago (3 children)

the latest volvo is 1.98m wide. the underground garage at my last place had a 2.2m wide door which i once managed to clip in my chevy volt. i wonder if the auto-pilot or whatever is good enough to navigate that.

[–] SlurpingPus@lemmy.world 2 points 2 hours ago (1 children)
[–] lime@feddit.nu 1 points 42 minutes ago

wow that's... tight

[–] HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world 4 points 22 hours ago* (last edited 22 hours ago)

shit i wonder if i'm good enough to navigate that. there's a reason i ride a bike (it's more fun)

[–] kungen@feddit.nu 3 points 22 hours ago (1 children)

EX90? And when the mirrors are extended, you're easily up to 2.1m wide. It's like they want to crash into stuff when driving in the city. Or "störst går först" mentality...

[–] lime@feddit.nu 2 points 15 hours ago

no the ex60, the "smaller" one...

[–] MadMadBunny@lemmy.ca 4 points 1 day ago

Already happening in Texas.
