Going nude adds to the fear factor for the intruder. They know you mean business and don't give a rat's ass.

IIRC, pajamas were popularized during WWII because of air raids and having to possibly get up and go to a building bomb shelter in there middle of the night. Also works for earthquake prone areas and homes with ghosts.

So, posting a (gold classic) copypasta and adding an extra sentence makes a "best of lemmy" post, apparently. Cool cool cool. Sure glad I left reddit's inane bullshit behind.

Aside from personal preference you shouldn't sleep in the nude because encase of emergency you may need to run out to render assistance to a family member at night and you don't want to traumatized your kids or grandma. Also people shed and sweat in their sleep so unless you are changing your bed coverings every couple of days then you'll be sleeping in you own filth, with pajamas at least the contamination will be kept to a minimum.
