IIRC, pajamas were popularized during WWII because of air raids and having to possibly get up and go to a building bomb shelter in there middle of the night. Also works for earthquake prone areas and homes with ghosts.
Otherwise Ebenezer Scrooge would have to spend that whole trip with the ghosts with his dick out.

Pajamas are appropriate at emergency shelters and on Pajama Day.
