No it didn't, there is a difference between implication and your assumptions. My "here you are" is me saying the bait worked, not that it has an effect here.
Also, just so you're aware: comments do play a part in the algorithm here on Lemmy. Specifically the "Active" sort.
Not here, but this is a screenshot from a video, likely from a platform where there is something to gain.
Fediverse doesn't promote posts based on comment engagement though, does it?
I know for 'Active' sort it does. I don't think any of the other sort options do.
I'd assume it's only a minority of people sorting by active, though
