Also Rocket Money.

Spend money to save money without having to look at your own bank statements! Makes perfect sense!

Sponsor Block is one of the essential YouTube plugins. Thanks to that I don't know half of these companies.

[–] Mac@mander.xyz 22 points 3 months ago (2 children)

And Dearrow by the same creator.

[–] Paddzr@lemmy.world 7 points 3 months ago (4 children)

What's dearrow? Downsides?

[–] sorrybookbroke@sh.itjust.works 13 points 3 months ago (1 children)

It replaces the thumbnail with a more representative frame from the video (voted by users). The 'arrow' was in reference to a trend where people would put a big red arrow pointed at some shit as clickbait. This is meant to stop clickbait

[–] Paddzr@lemmy.world 4 points 3 months ago

Thanks, downloaded and bought it. Happy to pay for good software.

It’s funny that DeArrow has lead to me watching more videos with super click bait titles. It’s almost as if actually using the content for the title instead of some vague notion or off content question is more likely to pick a video to watch.

I know there’s a reason channels do it but this is just my experience.

I love sponsor block, it works pretty much flawlessly apart from when YouTube recommends me a video from literally 30 seconds ago, which is surprisingly often that I can now count it on 2 hands as of the last time I got a scarily new video on my feed,

Nebula is the youtubers advertising for their own platform. It's like "like and subscribe" or "subscribe to my patreon".

[–] Gladaed@feddit.org 11 points 3 months ago

They are right anyway.

Skillshare is there, next to Hello Fresh.

[–] Peppycito@sh.itjust.works 5 points 3 months ago

Oops. So used to skipping them I guess.

[–] zout@fedia.io 33 points 3 months ago (3 children)

I'm missing Betterhelp, that one really expensive safety razor, and Bambulab for makers.

[–] Zwiebel@feddit.org 13 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Hensson. It is a very good razor, just double the price of others

[–] zout@fedia.io 5 points 3 months ago

That's the one!

[–] FatVegan@leminal.space 11 points 3 months ago

Better help is so shitty that it makes me turn off a video when my sponsor block isn't working. Bambulab at least makes something "good".

[–] Flatfire@lemmy.ca 11 points 3 months ago (1 children)

I've actually never seen an elgato sponsorship

[–] real_squids@sopuli.xyz 9 points 3 months ago

It's when somebody's elgato stops working so their logo remains the only thing on the screen for a minute or so

I'm proud to say that I block so many ads, this is the first time I'm seeing most of these names.

[–] JayGray91@piefed.social 22 points 3 months ago (1 children)

These sponsors are more and more being baked in the video themselves and not part of the system youtube use. That's why I use sponsorblock to automatically skip the portions of the sponsors.

[–] RickyRigatoni@retrolemmy.com 18 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Did you really need to write this like you were sponsored

[–] JayGray91@piefed.social 6 points 3 months ago

I swear it's unintentional

[–] Sivecano@lemmy.dbzer0.com 12 points 3 months ago

Sponsorblock go brrr

[–] harrys_balzac@lemmy.dbzer0.com 10 points 3 months ago

This was put together by someone who doesn't watch any sports channels. Completely missing all the sports betting sponsors like Fanduel and Underdog.

[–] cRazi_man@europe.pub 8 points 3 months ago* (last edited 3 months ago) (3 children)

You guys are seeing sponsors? Don't people use sponsorblock? I've never heard of (or seen) half these things.

[–] Decq@lemmy.world 8 points 3 months ago (1 children)

You would be surprised how many people still watch with the normal YouTube ads, so never mind sponsorsblock. I guess the big tech companies succeeded by dumbing everything down to bite-sized technologies. So many younger people can't even comprehend the notion of ad blockers. They are basically on the same level as boomers when it comes to tech literacy.

There are some creators who's content ads have the same effort as the rest of the content. As a heavy ad block user this is the only way for advertisers to reach me and im okay with it.

Morgan & Morgan have been showing up recently

[–] PhobosAnomaly@feddit.uk 7 points 3 months ago

I'd love to see the YouTube analytics of a handful of really popular videos that have embedded sponsors. Even before the "jump ahead" feature, there must be a massive drop-off of people who just skip five or ten seconds ahead until the sponsor isn't showing again.

[–] Golden@lemmy.blahaj.zone 6 points 3 months ago (4 children)

Idk if this is outdated or I just watch different content than OP, but I've been seeing mostly Helix & MeUndies the last year

[–] purplemonkeymad@programming.dev 4 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Only seen meundies on two channels so far. Not come across helix yet. Yt is large enough for you to be able to just completely miss a sponsor.

[–] protogen420@lemmy.blahaj.zone 3 points 3 months ago (1 children)

I have come accross meundies when watching Alec Steele, amazing channel, would recommend, big enough to have sponskr segments labelled consistent too

And I have never ever used one of those services.

[–] CobblerScholar@lemmy.world 3 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Got a set of Raycon headphones, they're fine but nothing special

[–] JamesBoeing737MAX@sopuli.xyz 3 points 3 months ago (4 children)

Dankpods heavily criticized them.

This seems less like a starter pack and more like the whole collection.

[–] Echolynx@lemmy.zip 4 points 3 months ago

You watch mostly tech and video game channels, I suppose?

The single blade razor company, Henson, is missing.

Also cut elgato, g2a and raid.

I mean, their advertising obviously worked. We all recognize those names even though more than half barely even do sponsorships anymore or not at all. Instead of making commercials look like memes they just flooded the internet and let us make the memes for them.
