Showerthoughts

A "Showerthought" is a simple term used to describe the thoughts that pop into your head while you're doing everyday things like taking a shower, driving, or just daydreaming. The most popular seem to be lighthearted clever little truths, hidden in daily life.

Here are some examples to inspire your own showerthoughts:

Rules

  1. All posts must be showerthoughts
  2. The entire showerthought must be in the title
  3. No politics
    • If your topic is in a grey area, please phrase it to emphasize the fascinating aspects, not the dramatic aspects. You can do this by avoiding overly politicized terms such as "capitalism" and "communism". If you must make comparisons, you can say something is different without saying something is better/worse.
    • A good place for politics is c/politicaldiscussion
  4. Posts must be original/unique
  5. Adhere to Lemmy's Code of Conduct and the TOS

If you made it this far, showerthoughts is accepting new mods. This community is generally tame so its not a lot of work, but having a few more mods would help reports get addressed a little sooner.

Whats it like to be a mod? Reports just show up as messages in your Lemmy inbox, and if a different mod has already addressed the report, the message goes away and you never worry about it.

Flannel shirt is fine, but flannel pants are pajamas are only for wearing inside. A T-shirt made of jersey material is fine to be worn out, but thin jersey pants are pajamas and should only be worn at home, so says conventional wisdom.

But, if shirt is made of pant, then it's nice/slightly fancy. Denim shirt? Nice, durable, suitable for a restaurant.

I don't know if this applies to women's fashion, as it seems to have very different rules to men's wear

Are you, by any chance, Canadian?

I live in Cleveland. Only thing seperating me from Canada is a lake. I could cross the lake.....but that lake is Erie.

Detroit is closer and you can at least see Windsor from the shore. Suck it.

By being sorry to not being one, aren't you already half Canadian? 😆

If only immigration thought the same. I lost my health insurance this month. I'd kill for Canadian citizenship

It'd be pretty funny to go get breakfast somewhere dressed in one of those old fashioned pajama gowns with the cap, a little blanket and a teddy bear.

Why is last Tuesday funny? I was sleepy AND hungry. I got a booth. Powernap and waffles.

linen can be considered a shirt material but linen pants are okay outside

Linen! My brother and I tried to find an exception and couldn't think of one. Lineb is a good one, but I think you have to live in Miami for it to work lol

Miami, or you know, any hot place on Earth...

Well what did you think it was

[–] TheRedSpade@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago (1 children)

An old word for "towels". The "linen closet" was where the towels were kept, and the few times I heard "linens" the people saying it were referring to towels.

You know what, that makes sense. It's one those things that you don't hear everyday so you have no reason to investigate the meaning.

A light fabric adhering to your top half is generally looked at differently than a light fabric adhering to your groins.

What? Have you never seen the Mighty Mighty Bosstones? You can definitely get legitimate (plaid) pants. Probably not flannel not sure that matters here if the pattern is what you have in mind.

Not sure thats the same though, I think they're talking about the material, which is generally not warm (windproof) enough to have as outside pants.

That's a good point. Flannel would probably not wear well as pants, either. I'll simmer down 🫣

Pyjamas are for wearing wherever tf you want
